Cacophony | 102 comments Hi Katrina!
I tried to pick from a selection of different genres so you could read what you were in the mood for. Besides the selections from my TBR pile I have read and loved all these books. It seems like our tastes are quite similar for the books we have both read so I hope these picks will work for you!
From your TBR
Welcome To Temptation - Jennifer Crusie
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
Favorites
Open Season – Linda Howard
River of Fire – Mary Jo Putney
If you like Lisa Kleypas’s books I think this author will appeal to you. This is a favorite of mine.
New
Jacob - Jacquelyn Frank
This author has a fun paranormal world and plenty of romance. This is the beginning of the series and I think it just gets better.
Moon Called – Patricia Briggs
I absolutely love this series. It seems to me that many urban fantasy heroines tend to be morally ambiguous. Patricia Briggs created an interesting but still emotionally well adjusted heroine.
My TBR
The City of Fallen Angels - Cassandra Clare
It looks like this is the next book for both of us to read.
The Masqueraders – Georgette Heyer
This author is a legend among regency romance readers. I thought this book sounded particularly interesting.
Welcome to Temptation (Dempsey's, #1) by Jennifer Crusie Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh Open Season by Linda Howard River Of Fire (Fallen Angels, #6) by Mary Jo Putney Jacob (Nightwalkers, #1) by Jacquelyn Frank Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare The Masqueraders (Harlequin Single Title) by Georgette Heyer

Polina (p0lit0o) | 71 comments Hi, Sarah! Here are my picks for you. Happy reading!

From your TBR

1. Vampire Academy - This book is the first in one of my absolute favourite series. It may seem a little slow but the next ones are so much better.

2. Poison Study - Great book! Wonderful story, fast-paced action, great setting and the best characters - what more to ask for?

New to You

1. Spellbound - I had a tough time coming up with new books for you because you've read all of my usual suggestions. This book I haven't read yet but I've heard good things about it. Plus, it brings a little variety to my recs for you.

2. Good Oil - I just read this book a couple of days ago and rated it five stars. It is fun and sweet and worth the time.

My Favourites

1. Going Too Far - I absolutely love this book, I've read it more times than I can remember.

2. Kiss an Angel - Another one if my favourites. I see you don't read much contemporary romance but I think you should give it a try.

From my TBR

1.I Am the Messenger - I am planning to read this book soon and it is on your to-read list so it seemed like a perfect pick. Let me now if you want to do a buddy read. :)

2. On the Jellicoe Road - I see you are a fan of young adult books and so am I. I've read other books by Melina Marchetta and she is a wonderful author. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with this book. Again if you want to do a buddy read, I am up for it.

I hope you enjoy your picks! :)

Victoria (flame_2712) | 126 comments Hey Cynthia!

This is my first PIFM challenge, so I hope I picked well for you! Or you could just PM me, cos I have some alternatives in mind! :)

From your TBR
1. Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught
2. Fires of Winter by Johanna Lindsey (Author)
3. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

I chose the first because I absolutely adored it, though the starting may not be that interesting. Also, I found it a change from other historicals. The other is a Viking romance and I really loved it. The third is from your own-to-read shelf and I loved that book too!

New to You
1. Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey (Author)
2. Oh My Gods by Tera Lynn Childs

The first is a historical romance, 2nd is a fantasy book with greek mythology in it, one of the few YA that I enjoyed.

My Favourites
1. Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon
2. Perfect by Judith McNaught

One is a paranormal romance, the first in the Dark Hunter series that I really enjoyed, the other, is one of my favourite contemporaries that I have ever read.

From my TBR
1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
2. Mine Until Dawn by Ednah Walters
3. The Forbidden Game by L.J. Smith

I realise you don’t really read contemporary romances, so I thought it would be good to give it a try! The first is a time travel romance I believe, and the reviews said it was really good, 2nd is a contemporary, and from the excerpt, the book seemed really good. I’m gonna be starting on it soon!

So I hope my recommendations for you are right! :) Enjoy the books! :) These are all my favourites to be honest! I’m sorry there’s pretty a lot of Judith Mcnaught and Johanna Lindsey, but that’s cause I normally read books by the same authors and these authors are the ones that really touched my heart. Besides, I realised you did enjoy a couple of them!
Almost Heaven (Sequels #3) by Judith McNaught Fires of Winter by Johanna Lindsey Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1) by Eoin Colfer Gentle Rogue (Malory Family, #3) by Johanna Lindsey Oh. My. Gods. (Oh. My. Gods, #1) by Tera Lynn Childs Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #0) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Perfect by Judith McNaught Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon Mine Until Dawn (The Fitzgerald Family) by E.B. Walters The Forbidden Game (The Forbidden Game, #1-3) by L.J. Smith

New to you:
Eldest (Inheritance, #2) by Christopher Paolini Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate

I saw that you read the first book in the Inheritance series but didn't have the others listed. I have read and really enjoyed Fallen.

I love both of these books, and can read them over and over again.

Thanks Kate! I've actually read the 3 books in the Inheritance series, but since I haven't read it for quite some time, it'll be a good opportunity to read again! Thanks! I think I'll start with Outlander and The Royal Treatment! It sure looks interesting! :)

~Megan~ (megadee) Tania,

Excited to be picking for you this month, and had so much fun perusing your TBR shelves! I hope I found something you might like here....I had a hard time narrowing it down. I seriously wanted to recommend about 50% of your TBR shelf LOL!

From your TBR shelf:
Blown Away by Sharon Sala - This trilogy is really unique, as all three books take place at the exact same time. It's not so much the characters that tie it together, as it revolves around a huge storm and the same town.
Truly, Madly by Heather Webber - Super fun series of mysteries about a chick who can find lost things
Hard Day's Knight by Katie McAllister - Guaranteed to make you laugh out loud!

Blown Away (Storm Front, #1) by Sharon Sala Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) by Heather Webber Hard Day's Knight by Katie MacAlister

New to You:
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen - I probably recommend this author every month for the PIFM. She is a favorite of mine, and this book is a magical treat.
Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley - Read this one a few months ago and was kind of blown away by it....super emotional read.

Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley

My Favorites:
Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks - One of my favorite UF series! I think it is one of the most underrated out there.
Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts - This is my personal favorite of the NR trilogies. I figured since you have about 4 pages of her books on your TBR, we should knock some out. Some elements of this still creep me out if I think about them.
Alpha & Omega: A Companion Novella to Cry Wolf and Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs - You love Mercy Thompson as much as I do it seems, and these books are just as good, if not better in some cases. Be sure to read the companion novella at the beginning. I love Charles!

Tempting Danger (The World of the Lupi, #1) by Eileen Wilks Blood Brothers (Sign of Seven, #1) by Nora Roberts Alpha & Omega A Companion Novella to Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, Prequel) by Patricia Briggs Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs

From my TBR:
Skin Game by Ava Gray - I've had this one on my TBR for a while and I'd be happy to knock it out this month!
On the Edge by Ilona Andrews - I finally jumped on the Kate Daniels bandwagon and devoured them all last month. I've been wanting to start this other series, but I'm afraid it won't measure up. Maybe I need a buddy to support me in my Curran withdrawals?

Skin Game (Skin, #1) by Ava Gray On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews

message 268: by Amy J. (last edited Aug 29, 2011 07:10AM) (new)

Amy J. | 349 comments Hey Amanda A I enjoyed picking for you even though it was something of a challenge. We don't have very many books in common and you don't have an extensive TBR pile. I'm a bit jealous there, mine has grown overly large.

Regardless, I hope you find something in my recommendations that you'll enjoy.

From your TRB- As I said not a lot to chose from and I don't know anything about these books. So, I chose the two that sounded the most interesting to me.

1. Don't Mess with Texas- I'm currently living in TX, so I thought this would be appropriate.
2. Until There Was You- I really liked this one's description.

Don't Mess with Texas by Christie Craig Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins

New to you- Based on the books you enjoy, I thought you might also like these:
3. Glass Houses
4. Wake

Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampire, #1) by Rachel Caine Wake (Dream Catcher, #1) by Lisa McMann

My Favorites
5. Pride and Prejudice- I'm of the opinion that anyone who likes romance should read Jane Austen. This is my all-time favorite book. I read it at least twice a year.
6. The Hunger Games- This is one of my favorite series.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins

From my TBR- These are both books I plan on reading in September. IF you want to read them with me, let me know. I'd love to have you join me.
7. Like Water for Chocolate
8. Beyond the Highland Mist

Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

message 275: by Alix (new)

Alix (alacrity15) | 6 comments Hey Kami ! Picking books for you was really fun! I hope you enjoy them. I got to put the first books to a few of my favorites series, so let me know what you think! This is my first time picking, so I hope I did it right.

2 books from their TBR:
Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey (very good start to an interesting series-great female protagonist and erotica/fantasy mixed together very successfully)
Divergent by Veronica Roth (one of the best books I’ve read in a while. Excellent protagonist, interesting story and a lot of action)

2 Books New to them:
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier (wonderful female protagonist and a beautifully told, magical story. A start to a great series. She is a beautiful, lyrical writer.)
A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole (In my opinion, a so-so, but necessary, start to a wonderful series. I am one of the few that did not love this book, but I can guarantee even if you don’t like this one, the ones that follow are incredible. It’s my favorite paranormal series. It’s important you read this one first as it provides very important setup.)

2 Your Favorites:
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh (great start to a great series-I recommend this wholeheartedly. I’ve reread it at least twice. However, my favorite books in the series are the 3rd, 4th and 5th. I see that you read Angel’s Blood and liked it. I do find the Angel series to be not quite as good as her Psy-Changeling books.)
Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon (I saw that you rated Outlander as 5 stars and I thought that I would push the second one at you. Outlander is probably my favorite romance novel and the series continues to shine.)

2 from your TBR:
On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta (I have heard wonderful things about this book and it seems like a special read.)
Intrinsical by Lani Woodland (this seems to be quite an interesting read. Got great reviews and it has an interesting plot)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments Hi Mandy!
I enjoyed looking through your shelves. I'm a little wary because you gave low ratings to some of my favorite books, and high ratings to books I didn't enjoy so much. So, take a look here and I hope you find something you will like!

From Your TBR
This was pretty easy, since there are only 3 books on your TBR I have actually read.
Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas (one of my favorite authors)
Glory in Death by J.D. Robb

New To You
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

My Favorites
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
One Day by David Nicholls
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

From My TBR
Warrior by Zoe Archer (I saw that you mentioned this one to your PIFM partner)
Divergent by Veronica Roth

L-D (lannie95) Elizabeth - I sent you a friend request so you can see my TBR. I have a TBR / I own list and a regular TBR list. If you can pick from the TBR/I own list that would be great but I'm flexible with whatever. Thanks!

Hi Jessica! Here are my picks for you:

You only had 4 books in your TBR so that was the easiest:
Your TBR
1. Vampire Academy #2
2. Dragon Reborn (Wheel of Time #3)
Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) by Richelle Mead The Dragon Reborn (Wheel of Time, #3) by Robert Jordan

New To You - I chose these based on the books I saw in your Read list to make sure it is a similar genre to ones you have liked. I also picked one classic and one new book.
1. Enclave - this a YA book by Ann Aguirre about a post-apocalyptic world where people do not live beyond the age of 25. I thought you would like this based on the YA titles you have already read. I rated this 5 stars
2. Magician by Raymond Feist - this is the first book in Feist's classic fantasy series. I chose this book for you based on your interest in the Wheel of Time series. This book is about Pug, an orphan boy and his transformation into the most powerful sorcerer in history. The entire epic saga consists of about 10 separate trilogies and 27 titles. I've read them all and I love this series. Magician was originally published as two separate books, Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master, but was re-published into one book called simply, Magician.
Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre Magician (The Riftwar Saga, #1-2) by Raymond E. Feist

MY Favs - these picks were a little more challenging because based on our lists, we don't have a lot of overlapping books. So I did my best to pick books that were not only 5 star reviews of mine, but also similar in style to the books in your Read list. I also tried to stick to YA because you have a lot of YA books in your list. This was tough for me because I do not do a lot of YA reading but I did my best trying to pick books that you will like.
1. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - I chose this book for you because the series is a 5 star series for me. Additionally, this is a YA series with a touch of romance and a lot of action. Similar to your fantasy genre books in your Read list, this series has a lot of fantasy-type story-lines. There are vamps, weres, fairies, warriors, angels, demons and more. An excellent series that is being made into a movie. I think this is a better series than Harry Potter which you've read already.
2. Hollowland by Amanda Hocking - originally I was going to recommend her My Blood Approves series based on your reading of the Vampire Academy series but I thought to myself that it's not really one of my favorites. So instead, I picked my favorite book by the same author, Hollowland. I think this is a great book about a post-apocalyptic world with zombies and all that good stuff. The heroine is searching for her brother and has an immunity to the zombie virus. This is a YA book but it was a very quick and easy read if you're looking for something to fly through. Also it is only 99 cents to buy the ebook.
3. Divergent by Veronica Roth - I added this book because I realized that Hollowland is only on ebook and you may not have an ereader. This is a sci-fi book about a society that is broken into 5 factions. Children are born into factions based on the factions their parents belong to, but when they come of age, they are able to choose their own faction. Choosing a faction you weren't raised to can cause issues and a break from your family. When the female lead chooses a new faction, she goes to training camp. What she doesn't realize is that the Dauntless faction does not take all new recruits and she must battle her way through a difficult selection process or face becoming one of the factionless. I thought this was a very interesting book for a YA title and a new author. I gave it 5 stars.
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare Hollowland (The Hollows, #1) by Amanda Hocking
Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth

Books from MY TBR - this was a little easier for me to choose. Since I haven't read these books, you can't really blame me if you don't like them ;)
1. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa - I put this book on my TBR list because there were a lot of recommendations by other Goodreads readers. Apparently the guy is superhot and went up against Jace from City of Bones (see above) in the finals for a YA hottest male leads showdown. - enjoy ;)
2. Hounded by Kevin Hearne - book 1 of the Iron Druid Chronicles is getting a lot of airplay on these forums so I added it to my TBR. Since he is a druid I am assuming this will be similar to the fantasy genre that you enjoy. Not sure if it's YA but since it's a male POV, there should not be any explicit themes.
The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne

Those are my recommendations. I hope you get a chance to read one or some of these and let me know what you thought about my picks! Happy Reading!

Emily May (emily-may) Picks for Tugce Nida! Hope I've found some books you'll enjoy :)

2 books from your TBR
You are currently in the middle of reading two of my favourite series ever, so I thought I'd recommend the next two books: Bloodfever and This Side of the Grave. I absolutely adore both of these books, the Fever series just gets better and better as it progresses and I love Frost's quirky characters and dialogue.

Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost

2 books new to you
I saw you'd added some Gena Showalter books but I would recommend the second book in her Lords of the Underworld series, The Darkest Kiss, it's up to you whether you want to read the first one before but it isn't necessary and I enjoyed the second far more. The other book I picked was Grave Witch, you seem to like urban fantasy and I really enjoyed it.

The Darkest Kiss (Lords of the Underworld, #2) by Gena Showalter Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price

2 of my favourites
I'm going to choose The Handmaid's Tale as it's a bit different from my other recs and possibly my favourite novel of all time, it changed my views on a lot of things and it's surprisingly easy to read. And also Succubus Blues, I just finished this series and it's incredible, by far Mead's best in my opinion.

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead

2 books from my TBR
I'm very excited about reading Bloodlines and I see it's on both of our shelves :) And for the other, I picked A Quick Bite because it's been sat there looking at me for ages and I know I need to get it read! I'd be happy to do a buddy read for either of these if you'd like.

Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1) by Richelle Mead A Quick Bite (Argeneau, #1) by Lynsay Sands

You're welcome, Pollyanna. I'm actually reading that right now.
