Finished 1. The elephant whisperer
2. The land of seven rivers
Listening to
Aunts aren't gentlemen
Reading
The wolf and the watchman
reading Delhi: 14 historic walksIndia Discovered.... loving them both.... To have had such an amazing past and to have reduced them to a few boring pages of history in school seems to be a crime... Pure pleasure to rediscover the past..
I started reading The City of Joy by Dominique Lapierre.I read always old books about India. I should start reading something more actual!

Didn't know about a movie! Has it the same title of the book? I will look for it but after I have finished the book.
I'll soon be starting to read 'Shantaram' and am already mesmerised by the sheer brilliance of the cover. People who have read it would never stop gushing about how well written and spell binding it is which makes me a little jittery. It's a ridiculously fat book which is hogging all the attention away from the rest of the books

I won't say more because I know this book is loved by a lot of people also in this group and I don't want to hurt their feelings and be hated!
Arushi wrote: "The book has cost me an arm and a leg and y'all are making me really nervous."You mustn't! Perhaps you may like it :D
I'm sure that was a devil's laugh :P I'll have to read it anyway to find out what's there to hate so much
Arushi wrote: "I'm sure that was a devil's laugh :P I'll have to read it anyway to find out what's there to hate so much"No, no devil's laugh! It is true, a lot of people love this book; I wasn't able to appreciate it because of a lot of reasons.

@Dely An interesting dichotomy of opinions seems to surround this book which makes me even more curious@Meryl I am sure I'll :)

HaHa! I would recommend you to read the Shiva Trilogy. Its awesome ;)
@Meryl I have indeed read and liked the first two parts but the Oath of the Vayuputras couldn't just hold my attention past the first 50 pages so I had to abandon it but maybe I should reconsider it. What do you say?
I have finished reading The City of Joy and really liked it (will write something about it in my reading-progress-discussion as soon as possible). But I have a question for people who have read the book. I was reading some reviews on GR and I have found out that the different editions don't have the same characters! There is Harasi Pal (the rickshaw puller) Max Loeb (the American doctor) and in my edition there is the French priest, Paul Lambert. In other reviews I have read that the priest is Polish and his name is Stephan Kovalski.
Why? Somebody knows why this huge difference of name and nationality? It is very curious!
Currently, as usual, I am reading a lot of books. Some of them are:1. The Hound of The Baskervilles (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)
2. Frankenstein; Or, the Modern Prometheus (Mary W. Shelly)
3. Delta of Venus (Anais Nin)
4. Turned - Vampire Journals #1 (Morgan Rice)
5. The Diary of A Young Girl (Anne Frank)
Books I've finished reading recently -
1. If On A Winter's Night A Traveler (Italo Calvino)
2. Think And Grow Rich (Napoleon Hill)
3. A Study In Scarlet/Sign of Four (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)

What did you think about If on a Winter's Night a Traveler?
We had a cozy read some weeks ago.
I am listening to the "Selected poems" by Emily Dickinson and one particular poem bewitched me. It goes like There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!
Actually her poems came to me through different authors who would begin their books with beautiful snippets from her poetry. She is a gifted poetess and I recommend you read some of her poems.

It was a nice book, and the concept was really cool. To be very honest, I found it very interesting. But maybe, I am not much experienced, so maybe, I am wrong. :D
But in my opinion, Italo Calvino left us a masterpiece before he departed. It should be in the "Top 100 books one must read before dying" list.

Yes, I agree! And thinking that I didn't want to read it because I don't consider a lot Italian authors.

neither do I. But this one was quite different and so I got inclined to them. Now I am going to read all of Calvino's best works.

I just finished reading Haroun and the sea of stories. Just loved it. Below is my review: http://sanchitasarkar.wordpress.com/2...
I'm finally reading The Lowland. Liking it so far, but it hasn't gripped me as much as The Namesake.
Just read replay by ken girmwood.Nice book but not what I expected.
Now I will read Along came a spider by James Patterson.
I hope it will be good..
just finished The Swoop: Or How Clarence Saved England . Very different from other works of PG Wodehouse. This is a cheeky tale where England is under simultaneous attack by nine invaders. Has some laugh-out-loud moments. An easy and short read. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished Saffron - The Blood Swan by D. Aswini young adult fantasy novel and decided to read "Possession". I'm interested in reading more fantasy and horror books.Saffron - The Blood Swan by D. Aswini

Just finished: When did you see her last? By Lemony SnicketReading: Feast for Crows by George RR Martin and Sycamore Row by John Grisham
Smitha wrote: "its a book I've wanted to read. do tell how you find it"I liked it and I'm sure you will like it too. Perhaps you won't like a lot the end because it's open but I think it's the right end for this book.
I started reading Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. I have read only the first 100 pages but I'm liking it so far.Who knows Patricia Highsmith? Is she good? I have bought yesterday The Animal-Lover's Book of Beastly Murder and I hope it will be good. It should be a mystery where the murders are animals.
