message 553: by Anoop (new)

Anoop Pai B (anooppai) currently the penultimate episode of the Tales of The Otori... I must say I am very impressed with the series. Its not Fire and Ice level but still is a good one...

Ronald (ronhadrian) Just read The Fault in Our Stars So many discussions about the book, so I went along and read the book. It is a beautiful book, a book which subtly deals with the frailty of life. The ending is too depressing... highly recommended.

It was an awesome book... a cynical character like Holden is a treat to read...

two questions? Why twice and then three quarters the third time? :D

Indiabookstore | 81 comments The Suitable Boy is perhaps one of the most brilliant books out there. I have never been able to forget it. Now will I ever. All of Vikram Seth's books pull you in and never let go.

Bukowski is one of my favourite poets.Had he written novels? I had no idea. My favourite poem by him is Raw With Love. It's phenomenal.

I didn't much like the choices she made in the end. first time was curious to know what happens, second time- a slower read to inhale the beauty of the writing. 3rd time after along gap- just to refresh the story
(all this was before my ereader era when I had limited no. of books)

message 565: by dely (new)

dely | 5485 comments I have started The Postman Always Rings Twice by James M. Cain for my "novel cure" challenge. This should help for people who suffer from apathy. I'm not pathologically apathetic but sometimes I don't want to do anything (except sitting down with a good book).

Muddle head (adic) | 4646 comments Reading India Was One...
Looks a decent enough read, but all the references/sub-texts to explain the 'indian' words or cricket or food or just some customs.. all of this is a bit tiring to read, without them, probably the book would have shrunk by 30% at least! Still awaiting the partition

dely, what is novel cure challenge? sounds interesting.
Adi, its in my to-read list

I have added this new challenge in one of my placeholders so it didn't show up in the updates.

dely | 5485 comments I have started reading The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James for my "novel cure" challenge. This book should help anxious people.

Henry James- I always wanted to read.

message 571: by Uday (new)

Uday Kanth (udayk) I've started reading A Dance With Dragons, the fifth book in ASOIAF. But since I know that it's going to take me months to finish that tome, I've also decided to do some parallel reading this time. First up is, Something Fresh by P. G. Wodehouse. This Blandings Castle series looks interesting,
