Christine | 6 comments Jeez guys!!! This looks like so much fun...and a challenge I would love to participate in but there is only one problem! I am leaving for the weekend in a few hours and can't get a list right now. Can I just get the books as I will be reading them or do I really need to make my whole list right now?

message 103: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments you can join in anytime - you just have to post the list before you start...so you could wait until you get back and post your list - use this weekend to put it together or something like that

Have you read Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern? Quick, funny and endearing book about the author's family- really good. Or how about one of Chelsea Handler's books? All funny and non-fiction. I read this one last year for the SRC Challenge and loved it- I Love You, Ronnie: The Letters of Ronald Reagan to Nancy Reagan by Nancy Reagan- completely non-political, just a beautiful love story in the form of all the letters Ronald Reagan wrote to Nancy throughout his life- I cried at the end.

message 136: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12285 comments Debbie, I thought of another non-fiction I also read for the SRC group- Reading Women by Stefan Bollmann Reading Women by Stefan Bollmann - my library had this- a large beautiful book with paintings and photos throughout time depicting women reading. Interesting backstory given on most of the pictures, also a quick read.

Classic (BONUS): Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte (Audiobook)

Discussion: Have you tried this genre before? What did you think about this book/author?

Comments on book(s) read
Religious Romance - I just finished Love's Long Journey for my religious romance. I'd heard a lot about Janette Oke's books since they had been made into movies but never read one. This is actually the third in the series, but I didn't feel lost without having read the others because its about the daughter of the original book. It was a short sweet read. Not sure if I will read other books by her in the future, but I enjoyed it for what it was. This is the first time recently that I have read any books in the religious romance/inspirational romance genre, although I remember reading some in my teens.

Fantasy - Started and finished up Some Girls Bite in a rather short period of time. I was completely engrossed in it. I liked the interaction between Merit and Ethan and look forward to more in the future. Definately didn't pick up on who the bad person was until it was revealed, a sign of a good plot to me. I already have the next two sitting in my cart at Amazon (waiting for the third to officially be released in a few days). This is the second book I've read in the Urban Fantasy genre (the first being Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. I will definitely be seeking more out in this genre in the future.

BDSM - reading Owning Rachel for my BDSM selection. It was ok...but I don't know if I would run out to read another one in the series. It opens with Rachel who is a successful lawyer seeking treating for her sexual dreams that she is having...her therapist provides her a phone number to call and it goes from there - she is kidnapped and made into a "pet" - i've read a lot of BDSM and will continue to read this genre, but overall, wasn't too impressed with this variation. I have another book in the series that I'm going to try out before I completely make up my mind though.

Chick-Lit - I have no idea why I keep listening to the Queen Betsy series by Mary Janice Davidson ((Undead and Unappreciated)...they are goofy yes, and I can't say that I love them, yet I've used three of them for challenges now and plan to use book 4 in August. AT this in this installment there was some progress on the relationship between Betsy and Eric (aka Sinclair). I guess the idea of a vampire queen with a shoe fetish is just attractive to me;) I'm not typically a fan of chick lit, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons and these ones aren't too bad, so i'm sure i'll seek more out in the future.
