I thought about making The Valley of Amazement my first Amy Tan book

Australia has always been luck when it comes to Elizabeth Haynes

Wow. And I already have it. Apparently it is available from QBD. Sensible of them to get it out before Xmas rather than just after though.

Now that one definitely goes on my TBR list!

Don't start me on these pre-release scores. If they have been given an ARC then that is fine - although most publishers like you to wait for a week prior to release. But these are just doing it anyway!
I doubt very much whether she had an ARC Sally - and I totally agree with you! I wish it could be policed, but difficult when we DO receive ARCs!
But why pick three? Usually it is either five (fans) or one (haters). People are very strange sometimes.

I know, it's an odd rating!

me too; added to my tbr, thanks, Mish

Brenda, I think they pick 3 as it is a middle of the road opinion. Because they haven't actually read the book, they can't have a love/hate and a 3 might seem safe to them. I think it's pretty poor to rate a book you haven't read.

It most definitely is Bette! I don't understand their mentality!

Yeah it's pretty exciting Brenda & Bette. A friend of mine has been given an ARC to read & review. She said it's very explicit and brutal compared to Room and might put people off...but I'm still keen to read it :)
