What are you reading?
I just started A Fire Upon the Deep on Friday. It's great so far! I'm really enjoying the way the author lets the nature of his alien species be revealed to the reader very naturally, without telling it in an obvious, hit-you-over-the-head way. So far it's a great one!
I just finished Stasiland by Anna Funder - loved it. The Berlin wall and how it came about and what went on in GDR during the socialist regime is fascinating and Anna Funder has written a journalistic piece that reads like a story.
I finished The Prince of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafon yesterday. I LOVED Shadow of the Wind, but this one didn't really do it for me. :/Now I'm starting Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer and it's good so far! :)

I didn't know there is a movie, thanks for the tip, I will look for that. I liked Theatre very much!

Just started Up Jumps the Devil
. I have a personal challenge this year called "batting clean-up" where I'm finishing everything I have not yet read of authors I'd already read most of. Margaret Maron is one of them. It's been a while since I read her-- I'd forgotten how much like her!
Lori wrote: "Ooohhhh... Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is such a good book, Allison!!"Thanks Lori, I'm glad to hear you liked it so much. I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it! :)
I think they are planning to make a movie based on Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I haven't the book yet, but it is on my Books of Interest list. I hope to read it someday, preferably before the movie comes out.
Swapnil- I hope you enjoy it when you start it! :) I've been hearing rumblings of it being made into a movie too- should be interesting!
Patricia- I'm with you on reading it before the movie comes out, that was part of why I started it now. Hope you like it when you get to it. :)
Here's the trailer. The movie has been made and it looks incredibly good. Gives me "heavy boots"..

This movie looks really good and I have been wanting to read the book. Might go the watch the movie first, read the book a while later route because I don't think I can get it down any time soon. Currently reading both Neuromancer and 11/22/63.
Finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and now continuing on with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.I almost started 11/22/63 but I kept to my word of finishing up the Harry Potter series.
Scott wrote: "Finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and now continuing on with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.I did finish Harry Potter because my 9y old was listening to CD in my car.... Well... I strongly believed it's the most overrated book has I ever heard... The movies (even I'm always agree what book must be first and books are better) in this case are more then enough and I would happily skipped all these enormously big books to movies only. Sure, if I would read them at 9-12 years old I would probably has a different opinion
Am currently reading One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. I'm probably going to be dragged to the movie in January, so figured I might as well read the book before then. Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating this week!
About 2/3 through Maybe This Time
. The premise doesn't really appeal to me but despite that I can't seem to put it down. I'm remembering that I love Jennifer Crusie and I cannot understand why I let so much time go by between reading her books!
I finished the weird but pretty good Marvellous Hairy and will finish this evening Umbria. Then I will start with a Dylan Dog.
So I just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. Whoa. I really don't have the words to even say how I feel about this book. It made me feel a lot. It was amazing, and if you haven't read it, you should.

Thanks for sharing the trailer! I had not seen this yet, but I knew it was releasing around Christmas. I am looking forward to this movie.
Currently about 2/3 through The Prince of Tides. I'm totally hooked and hope to finish up this weekend.

My current Kindle book is Swamplandia! by Karen Russell (I generally read my Kindle while working out on my stationary bike). It's good, but perhaps not as great as I'd been hoping. I'm still early in the book, so we'll see how it goes...I hope to start (and finish!) The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt: A Novel in Pictures by Caroline Preston this weekend. I love the 1920s setting and the unique structure of the book.
this week."I have read all of Nicholas sparks book, besides the latest ones. This is one of my favorites, love the story."
story.
I'm really enjoying this one too Michael. I've read all but the last 3. I do enjoy his books too.
I'm reading Harlan Coben's Live Wire and finding it to be very enjoyable. Now I'll have to go back and catch up on the other nine books in the series that preceded it!

Okay, finished it, loved it! Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the "current" time period ending I think could have better but loved it until that moment and like I said, almost got 5 stars.
