I'm reading A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry, and The Taker by Alma Katsu...all 3 books are holding my interest so far:)
Just finished
and, once again, thoroughly enjoyed Sanford's work. The Virgil Flower's character is a nice change from his too serious Lucas Davenport. Quirky in a good way.
Just finished Dark Lover: The Life and Death of Rudolph Valentino- quite engrossing and (a little too?) thorough. I've loved Valentino since I saw my first silent movie years ago. My lord, that was a handsome man!Next I'll continue my old Hollywood kick w/ either Becoming Mae West or Clara Bow: Runnin' Wild.
Gitte wrote: "I'm reading Couples by John Updike."I read about half of this book and for some reason I put it aside and never finished it. I came across it a while back and put it back on my TBR shelf. As I recall I enjoyed it, so I don't know why I never finished it.
I have been gone for a while and have really missed this group! Can't wait to catch up with what everyone has been reading. I am reading THE CONFESSION by John Grishom and it is good.

Karen, this is the second time I try too! I started reading it a couple of years ago, and found it a bit slow. Then, just as I was actually starting to like it, my bag was stolen - with the book in it! Now I got a new copy, and again I'm finding it a bit slow... but I've only read about 30 pages, so it's too early to judge... but I think I might end up liking it - if I manage to tell the diffrent couples apart ;-)

Do you need a score card?? LOL
I'm just starting Dead as a Doornail on my Kindle and I'm about halfway through a paperback copy of Beautiful Creatures.
Just finished Envy
which is the third book in the series. I liked it but at the end of book 2 one sister promises to help the other to get her lover back, then in book 3 the first sister pretty much checks out of the situation. She's got one more book to keep from making a liar out of the author. :-). Good series though.
City Of Bones By Cassandra Clare
Really! Thnx It is amazing! I'm at the part when Jace and Clary go inside the Vampires Layer and this other guy i think it's Raphael something like that
Kristilyn wrote: "Reading "White Teeth" by Zadie Smith ... it's such a long read, but I'm liking the story. Lots of detail, humour ... just really long!"I haven't read this book yet but if you're interested it was done as a series on British Television and you can view it on Hulu, just search for "White Teeth".
I changed my mind, I'm going to go back and pick up where I left off with Duma Key by Stephen King. I'm only on page 60 so I have quite a bit of reading ahead of me.
Started The Other Life by Ellen Meister Everyone guessing what would you happen to you life if you would go different ways - for example married the other person and didn't moved from you homeland... How then you life looked would be, how it would be different from current life. I just start reading and very intrigued by main character possibility to moved from her one life to other,,,,

My copy of The Scorpio Races just arrived by mail today! With a Maggie-doodle inside!
Still reading The Greek Treasure enjoying but wish they would stop listing every piece of treasure they find! LOL Seriously, the book would be twenty or so pages shorter if they would stop. About halfways done with Mudbound which is a pleasure to read.
Desiree wrote: "I'm reading Villette by Charlotte Bronte."I remember reading that a few years back. It was a hard one to get a-hold of. How are you liking it?
I just finished Finny which I believe was a group read at some point. Loved the quirky characters. Also just finished Slow Man and am now reading The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (both YA / I'm a teacher), The Red Queen and On Beauty. The later is an audio book.
I just finished Georgette Heyer's Venetia (which I absolutely loved!) so I'm on to reading Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game (which I've been meaning to read for a very long time now), Bram Stoker's Dracula (I started reading this book last year but then stopped a few chapters in. I decided to start reading it again but yeah, it's a bit boring at the moment) and re-reading Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey =)
Last night I finished The Night Circus which I absolutely adored. Loved the story, loved the style of writing, it was great. :) Today I'm reading Alice in Wonderland.

I found it a bit hard going at times, but would put it up there as one of my favourite classics now.
Jane wrote: "What did anyone think about Virgin Suicides?"I was disappointed! Actually preferred the movie!

It gets intense fast. I have read it 3 times and though I struggle with the language I still love the story and get scared every time!

I decided to start reading it again but yeah, it's a bit boring at the moment)...I read Dracula this past summer. Though it was slow-going at times, like Claire, Angie and Jennifer, I did enjoy it in the end. When you're finished, you might be interested in Dracula in Love by Karen Essex, which is told from Mina's POV and was a bit of a faster read.
Heather L wrote: "Li wrote: "I just finished Georgette Heyer's Venetia (which I absolutely loved!) so I'm on to reading...Bram Stoker's Dracula (I started reading this book last year but then stopped a few chapters ..."That sounds like a good recommendation (Dracula in Love). I'll have to read that one.
Finally finished The Greek Treasure. I enjoyed the book but just took so long to read. I'm about 3/4 of the way through Mudbound and still really enjoying it although it's gotten a bit predictable. Just started Track of the Cat for something a little lighter.

It's got Charlotte's fingerprints in a way that, say, Anne's or Emily's works don't. Glad you're plowing forward!
Michael wrote: "I am reading Halfway House, love it so far."I just finished the amazing book, love it. I love how the stories came together at the end and how interesting the characters were.
Emilly R wrote: "I finished "DAUGHTER OF FORTUNE"by ISABEL ALLENDE,which i enjoyed so much"That is a beautifully written book! I need to read another one of hers.
Allison wrote: "Last night I finished The Night Circus which I absolutely adored. Loved the story, loved the style of writing, it was great. :) Today I'm reading Alice in Wonderland."
I just got the annotated Alice with all the interesting little tidbits throughout. I'm looking forward to reading it!
I'm reading Reading Lolita in Tehran and loving it so far. It's easy to forget that reading many of the best works of fiction-- a simple pleasure in the US-- is a secret and dangerous act in other parts of the world.
