Tonight I am working on First day of the Rest of My Life. My copy is an ARC and for work I need to write a review of it soon. It is a very ineresting book.

I just finished
andit's a fantastic book. I borrowed it from a friend. I'm going to get a copy for me! I don't know what I'm going to start next!

I read Water for Elephants recently and looooved it. I don't know why Hotel on teh Corner of Bitter and Sweet seems so disappointing. I guess I'm just having a hard time getting into the love story. I don't find it at all believeable, and the characters don't ring true. Oh well, can't win them all I suppose.
I have just finished Ask Me If I'm Happy by Kimbrly Menozzi and I absolutely loved it. The story was great and the Italian feeling was so real. Maybe that's why my week at work has been crap....I have been in Italy the whole time (with my mind).
I finally jumped on the Game of Thrones bandwagon, so I'm 40 or so pages into the first book and mostly enjoying it. I'm still a bit confused at times, but hopefully I'll get accustomed to it soon.

Once you figure all of that out, you will just fly through the book. Enjoy!
i am reading "A VIRTUOUS WOMAN"by Kaye Gibbons,so far i love this book .i am going to the UK so i am going to do some reading in the plane i hope
I finally started Zazen. I read half of it in one night and hope to finish it tonight. It's interesting and I really like it but I'm not sure how universally relate-able it is. I'll post a review when I finish.
Hey guys- new here. I really want to find a great community to discuss our love of books. I'll give this forum a try! :) Anywho, since the recent gift of a kindle from my dear boyfriend, I've been reading a few books at once, whatever I'm in the mood for. Almost finished with "The Reading Promise: My Father and the Books We Shared" by Alice Ozma, and I'm inching my way into "Dracula" by Bram Stoker (reading aloud to my boyfriend-nerd status haha, but it's actually a great book to read aloud... definitely give it a go if you enjoy that!) Anyway, They are SO different so it's kind of neat to be reading them synonymously. Ozma's novel is lovely, an easy read, although it is rather elementary in style and can begin to lag after a while due to the basic nature of it. I believe it is worth the read though, a truly charming reflection on reading and on her father, and essentially, her coming of age. You really feel a relationship to little Alice growing up- not to mention, I'm sure you all read all the books she read growing up! (I had forgotten about the days of Encyclopedia Brown and Ramona until she jogged my memory, which was totally worth the read in itself!!)
Conversely, "Dracula," although I'm not too far into the novel, is exciting and adventurous. The very beginning chapters really suck you in (no pun intended- ha!) with Jonathan's journey to the castle and in the castle. Stoker really throws some fantastic, but subtle twists into the book, but also maintains a lyrical language that is easy and invigorating to read. It slows up a bit at the point I'm at, where he begins to document a lot of journal entries and letters other than Jonathan's. It is all purposefully constructed in this very unique way, though. It is obvious Stoker is building quite the mystery and I am definitely hooked...
Okay, sorry for the first post rant. Interested in seeing what else you guys are reading!

Jordan - When I first read "Dracula" I found it very scary. When his three wives first appear is truly creepy. It's a classic of it's kind.Mafalda - I recently read "Murder on the Orient Express" and enjoyed it.
I'm currently reading "The Magician and The Card Sharp". It's great. It's a true story about a professional magician named Dai Vernon who tracks down a card sharp in the midwest of the US in ordert to learn what is an almost impossible sleight of hand move.

Jo wrote: "I'm inching my way into "Dracula" by Bram Stoker..."Hi Jo! I just read Dracula last month and also enjoyed it. I read it as a precursor to Dracula in Love by Karen Essex, which I also liked. Was interesting to read Mina's version of the classic novel through the eyes of Essex.
After reading several romances back to back (I needed a few lighter, fun books after the above mentioned novels), I've just started a thriller, The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker. Have not read anything by him before and only a couple chapters in so don't know what I think of it yet.
If you like Dracula check out "Carmilla" by Joseph Sheridn Le Fanu. It's a short novella that predates Dracula by I think about 40 years.
Emilly R wrote: ""MURDER IN THE ORIENT EXPRESS" i love that book!"me too, just like all of her books!
I wish I was still reading Ask Me If I'm Happyat home, between a Madrid guide and started reading on the tram It Must Be Love. Not sure yet about the latter one.
I'm about half way thru My Life in France and at this point I just don't know if I'm gonna finish it. I hate not too since I've drug myself all this way.
Scott wrote: "Rayna wrote: "I finally jumped on the Game of Thrones bandwagon, so I'm 40 or so pages into the first book and mostly enjoying it. Too bad I now have to rush through it to get it back to the library so that everyone else on the waiting list can read it!
I've decided to try to read The Alienist again. The first time I tried was not really a time I could commit to this book so I'm assuming the reason I put it aside was me and not the book.
I'm finally about to start Kane and Abel. Dad was looking bored and pitiful, so I let him have it first. He's retired, but can't do a lot because of his bad knee. I'm having trouble finding him enough books!I tried reading The Complete Stories by Flannery O'Connor, but I just couldn't like them. She's supposed to be one of the best short story writers ever- what am I missing? Any thoughts?
I'm reading Cage of Stars by Jacquelyn Mitchard and Inside the Kingdom by Carmen Bin Laden. Both of them are very interesting so far.
I was right about The Alienist. I was trying to read it at a time when I didn't really have time to read. I'll definitely finish it this time!
Leila wrote: "I miss reading :( Haven't been able to finish a full novel for more than 6 months now :( :("I would get depressed, bored, annoyed.... good luck!
Just finishedIt Must Be Love which I thought would be boring, fluffy, empty and at the beginning it was. London, good job, great flat, wedding on Christmas eve to a rich guy..... not really my thing. But now I have a nice cozy feeling after having read about Sarah going to the West coast of Ireland and becoming a different person, one I liked much more than in the beginning. And even if ehr friend Abigail didn't make a huge part of the story, but mroe a huge part on the back ground part of the story, I feel like she is my favourite person in the book.
Just finished "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and immediatly picked up "Girl Who Played with Fire". Mikael Bloomkvist and Lisbeth Salander combo have me hooked.
I'm reading The Confessions of Catherine de Medici
,
Sizzling Sixteen, Voodoo River
and
The Union Quilters: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel.
Not really sure if it is a good choice for reading on the tram to work, but tomorrow I am starting Middlemarch. If that won't wake up my brain early in the morning!
I have startedOne Thousand White Women: The Journals Of May Dodd. This book is for an upcoming booksd discussion that I am going to lead. The first few chapters are interesting.

Got an ARC of
awhile back and decided to take the plunge just recently. Have to admit, while I wasn't certain what to expect, it is quite good so far. I love books that you can ease into like a cozy chair. This is certainly one of those.
I started reading Jane Eyre, trying to tackle my classics "to read" pile and am finding it quite entertaining.
Loli wrote: "I started reading Jane Eyre, trying to tackle my classics "to read" pile and am finding it quite entertaining."I loved Jane Eyre when I read it (which was just a few books ago)! Hope you enjoy it. Stick with it, its worth it.
I take 12 books a month to read/review and goodreads is the easiest place to keep track of that. If you want to know what I'm reading at any given moment, all you have to do is look at my currently reading list here. goodreads is awesome! :)
I'm reading "Before I Go to Sleep" by S.J. Watson. I'm about halfway through and it is really good so far!
