April - Pick It For Me Challenge

And Jennifer E., I'm working on your picks as we speak!

★ When you move your mouse over the picture a drop down box will appear.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
★ I copy (right mouse click) over the html option, then...
★ Paste that long list of instructions to a comment box on GRs. They usually start with an less-than-sign before an a (no space between) and end with an less-than-sign / a >
★ I, personally, like the ones that move! However, they can be irritating to the eyes, so I often but them under "view spoiler".

I love Smiley. :-)
Now I have to figure out how to C&P into my GR member reading list. If I can't figure it out, I might bug you Jane (PS).["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

1. Friends - Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. I've been told to read this several times, and I have it on my shelf, but I just haven't picked it up yet!
2. Romance - November of the Heart by LaVyrle Spencer. It was the first romance novel I ever read, and has remained my favorite throughout the years! I cry every time, and read it at least once a year!
3. Intense - Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult. This was one of those instances where you just keep hearing about an author, and it makes you a little weary to try them because it seems to mainstream? Well, I finally decided to try her out, and the cover of this book intrigued me. The title coupled with a girl skating on ice, a million things went through my head. So, I read it, could not put it down, and cried several times throughout the book.
4. Emotions - Black Creek Crossing by John Saul. One of my favorite horror authors. He writes paranormal suspense, but the catch is, will the ending turn out to really be paranormal, or is there a logical explanation? Well, read this one, and at the end, you're going to catch yourself saying "What!!!"
5. New - Evermore by Claudia Gray. I saw you liked the Twilight series, and this series by Claudia Gray is similar, but with a different twist.
6. Don't Forget - The oldest books you have are from September, and I couldn't find anything that would be considered the "oldest" that I could really recommend. So I went with one of the first ones, and that's Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
7. Support - Dark Lover by J.R. Ward. I've been wanting to start this series, but just haven't yet. So, if you decide to read this, send me a pm and I'll read it with you!
8. Bonus - Eden Close by Anita Shreve. Wonderful story of childhood friends, lose touch, and end up reconnecting and helping out each other.

I'm backing you up Jane, that's exactly what I do- but like you, I can't insert pictures either

Here are your recommendations:
Friends : Naked in Death by J.D. Robb I saw you have a Nora Roberts shelf and thought you might like to check this out.
Romance : To See You Again: A True Story of Love in a Time of War by Betty Schimmel
Intense : Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
Emotions : The Ruins by Scott B. Smith I LOVED this book!
New : New, New, New - The Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason
Don’t forget : The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Support : Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

If you don't see anything you like, please let me know and I will make new recommendations.

Here are your recs.
1. FriendsThe Hunger Games- Didn't see this one on your list. This was rec to me in a past challenge. It did not disappoint!
2. Romance[book..."
I think I will read Beyond The Night. Thanks for the recommendations and the author info! I didn't know she wrote under another name! :)

Sorry Pollyanna, that was Dabney's response to my picks for her. It looks like yours are still to come.

Hi Elise. This is the first time I have done this challenge.Hopefully I have picked some books you will like :)! ..."
Thanks Michelle, you did a great job I will probably ... read Acheron or Blood Born. :0)

I am currently working on the list right now, but I'm afraid I am gonna pass out here soon.

Friends :
These were both recommendations given to me through this challenge! The Awakening and The Struggle, by L.J. Smith
Evernight, by Claudia Grey
Romance :
This is one that I just really liked, and the characters stuck with me, Just the Way You Are by Christina Dodd
Intense :
I was also recomended this book, it is a first out for her but it was great I have the second one on my TBR
One Scream Away, by Kate Brady
Emotions :
Both of these books were really great ones that were happy and sad and wonderful! Accidentally Yours,by Susan Mallery
Phantom Waltz, by Catherine Anderson
New :
I have two new Authors for you on this one! Both are PNR but both so much fun and really great series too! A Quick Bite or really anything at all by Lynsay Sands they are all great!
Also most of the books by Katie MacAlister but a good one to start with is A Girl's Guide to Vampires
Don’t forget :
this one was easy as I chose for you the one on your TBR list that was the first I came across that I had read! While this was a good book i like a few of the others in this series better but its a great starting point Shadow Game, By Christine Feehan
Support :
The Darkest Passion, by Gena Showalter I want to read this I just keep finding new stuff to read and forget its out there!
Bonus :
The Accidental Bestseller, Wendy Wax this is a really great "friends" story!

Hope you find something good here!
Friends : Vittorio: The Vampire by Anne Rice. I read this last month for my very first Pick-It-For-Me.
Romance : Remembrance by Jude Deveraux. I’ve seen you have read a few of hers and without a doubt Remembrance is my favorite romance novel. Total tear-jerker.
Intense : Beloved by Toni Morrison. Deals with intense topics and intense emotions and the writing has a way of eliciting pure emotion from you. Very good.
Emotions : Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. Makes me laugh out loud every time. And even if you are a little religious, it shouldn’t be too offensive, as long as you can take a grain of salt with your savior. ;-D
New : Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. On your TBR and, since she didn’t write anything else, an author you haven’t read before. This is my favorite book in the entire world- but warning: it is quite lengthy, so be prepared if you pick it. Still, the story is amazing and epic.
Don’t forget : Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coehlo. This has been on your TBR for a few months now, which surprises me because it seems you have read a LOT of Coehlo. It also sounds really good.
Support : The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. We both want to read it, and I have definitely been on a dystopia kick lately.

Hi Elise. This is the first time I have done this challenge.Hopefully I have picked some books you will like :)! ..."
Thanks Michelle, you did a great job I will probabl..."
Let me know when you want to start reading "Blood Born". My stepmom suggested I read it last fall. :)

I tried to pick mostly from your TBR list and I think I even picked a few from your Own Not Read list:) Hope you find something, and if not let me know and we can try again!
Friend: Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione- This series was in your Own But Not Read list. I had this series recommended to me on Yahoo Group for Black Dagger Brotherhood I was part of. I was so glad I gave it a try because I ended up loving it:) I just got a friend to start them and she read them all in a week!
Romance: Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward- I noticed you had read Dark Lover and had rated it high so I thought you might enjoy the second book. Lover Eternal is 1 of 2 of my fav. In this series, and is intense, raw, and sweet all at once. (I was going to recommend Persuasion by Jane Austen but you had read it! It's my fav romance ever:)
Intense: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins- This is another book that you read the first book of the series and rated high. I loved this book, and it truly is one of those books that consume you from start to finish!
Emotions: Options 1: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold- The content of this book is def. hard to read, and for me evoked all kinds of strong emotions. Anger, fear, sadness, sympathy… It just goes on. Even though it can be difficult to read at times, it is an amazing read and I highly recommend it.
Option 2: The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan- I was originally going to suggest Forest of Hands and Teeth, but you had read it and Dead Tossed Waves. The Dark Hallow Places was just recently released, so I decided to go ahead and use it for a second option. The emotion….FEAR, the first one is scaring the ever loving day lights out of me!
New: And One Last Thing ... by Molly Harper- You had several Chic Lit books in your TBR list so I’m assuming it’s a genre you enjoy. However this book wasn’t in there and it’s one of my favs. So I thought I would suggest it! It is HILARIOUS! Molly Harper also has a Vamp series (Jane Jamison, Good Girls Don’t) and a Werewolf series (The Naked Werewolf) and these are just as good and just as funny! (One Last Thing is her only Chic Lit)
Don't Forget: Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost- - Another Own But Not Read title. You started the series and stopped at book 3. This is one of my Fav. Series ever, so here is a little reminder the book four is still hanging out in the TBR pile:)
Support Option 1: City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare- - I can’t wait for this book! This is my fav YA series! Since it is released at beginning of April and it’s on both our list it’s a perfect Buddy Read!
Options 2: Intertwined by Gena Showalter- I’m going for YA here for some reason:) I have had this book hanging out in my TBR for a while, and I love Gena Showalter, so this is another book I would enjoy reading for a Buddy Read.
Bonus : I am giving two options and both are book NOT in your TBR list since most of the other selections are! Always good to try something new!
Option 1: Simply Irresistible #Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvil- - This book deals with 3 half sister, who are completely different, and really struggle with their relationships with eachother. The first book shows them forging new friendships with each other, and learning to accept one another. This is Contemporty Romance which you didn’t seem to have a lot of in your TBR. This book is sweet, funny, and emotional! I love it and am eagerly awaiting next book.
Options 2: Secrets of a Summer Night #1Wallfower series by Lisa Kleypas- - This series deals with a 4 women who form a friendship to help them find husbands, and stop being the Wallflowers at each social gathering. This series is Historical Romance another genre I didn’t see a lot of on your TBR. I just recently read this series (new author for me!) and I LOVED it! I read whole series back to back and can’t wait for more by Lisa Kleypas!
Happy Picking!!!

Friendship: Dead Until Dark bu Charlaine Harris. Many people recommended it to me but I've never got the chance to read it.
Romance: Vampire Academy b..."

I am planning on reading : " And then there Were None", "The Hunger Games", "Vampire Academy", & "Dead til Dark". 3 of the books will count in another challenge I'm working on in April. Let me know when you start reading "Pride and Prejudice". Debbie thanks for all the hard work !

I tried to pick mostly from your TBR list and I think I even picked a few from your Own Not Read list:) Hope you find something, and if not let me know and we can try again!

I hope you find something you like, I haven’t read a lot of your books and I tend to read PNR, HR and fantasy … so if you don’t find anything you like let me know and I’ll pick others.
Friends: Soulless by Gail Carriger (PNR Recommended by a close friend & I really loved it)
Romance: Saving Grace by Julie Garwood (HR – actually any of JG’s HR I loved)
Lover Mine by J.R. Ward (PNR Vampire … steamier than what I’ve seen on your TBR)
Intense : The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (YA most intense book I read last year, it’s sad, heart-warming …)
The Cellist of Sarajevo by Stephen Galloway (it’s sad, heart-warming …)
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom (a small book but definitely intense)
Emotions : Fluke: Or I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore (1st book I read of CM’s , it is one of the funniest & oddest books I’ve ever read)
Dear John by Nicholas Sparks (broke my heart)
New : City of Bone by Cassandra Clare (totally new for you, and 1 of my ALL time favourite series)
Devil's Bride by Stephanie Laurens (HR – SL is my other fav HR writer)
Don’t forget : Crystal Flame by Jayne Anne Krentz
The Missing by Shiloh Walker
Support : The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs (I saw a Vampire Knitting book … this is knitting, I love to knit and it’s been on my shelf for too long)
Winter Roses by Diana Palmer (it’s been on my shelf forever)
Bonus : The Accidental Bestseller by Wendy Wax (the ups and downs of friendship)
The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong (YA new friends)

Hey Lindsey! Thanks for the recs. (I think you have picked for me before, and I THINK it was Heaven, Texas which I really liked!). (BTW are the bluebonnets blooming? I miss bluebonnets so much!)
I will try to read [book:Shadow Game since I very conveniently have it sitting in a pile next to my bed. I am a little leery because I thought Dark Prince was dull and repetitive. BUT I will give Ms. Feehan another shot! I'm also intrigued by Evernight and I can get it at the library. I would also like to read Vampire Diaries but not sure I want to get sucked into another series just yet. Heck, I'll probably pick it up at the library as well! :-)
Thank you!

Sandy, Shadow Game is very good, as is the whole series. I think you will like it. I am up to Murder Game and I've enjoyed every one so far. Very different from her Carpathian series (but that series gets much better after the first one) I am reading Evernight too, for the random list challenge.

It seems like the first of Covet was slow and I was having a hard time to, but it gets very good!! So, good luck and happy reading!! :)

I think this book is interesting.
I'm also going to read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon but unfortunately it's always sold out, this always happens to me whenever I want to read a new book, it's always sold out in every bookstore - literally.
I'm also excited for City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. I would like to read it with you. :)
I've been planning to read Wake by Lisa McMann, I'll take your world for it and maybe read it this weekend.
Thanks for the recommendations. I think I'm going to enjoy reading them. :)

I would love to read The Seceret for a buddy read if you want. I found it a used book store yesterday so I have it and will be ready whenever you are. Just let me know!

Thank you so much! You've given me so many great suggestions I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to just one. I think for this challenge I am going to go with both The Great Gatsby and Water for Elephants. But I also wanted to let you know that I have now added The Ruins and To See You Again to my TBR shelf. I have been very VERY hesitant to start the In Death series just because I know it is such a loooooong series so I'm waiting till I've got the time, energy and resources (read $$$) to start that one. LOL
Thanks again Katherine!!

For those of us (which includes myself) that have not gotten recommendations, we need to try to be patient, only a little while longer.
Have until April 2nd (9pm CST) then I will utilize the 15 (and counting) wonderful volunteers that have offered to make sure we all get recommendations.
Thanks for the cheers (back a page) ladies, it was greatly appreciated.
