Beth F | 669 comments 15.8 - festivus – the airing of grievances

We have two inside cats and one of them is very territorial and he cannot handle seeing strange cats on our porch, on the deck, in the garage, in the flower bed, on the stone wall, in the front yard or hanging by their claws from the window screen--ugh. So every time one of the neighborhood cats comes on our property our cat tweaks out and starts yowling like a demon just freed from hell.

One neighborhood cat in particular frequently shows up at the house on purpose at all hours of the day and night, only because I think it likes to see my cat flipping his lid. So anyway, my pet peeve is...

The neighbor's idiot cat won't stay off our property so I read -

Raw Food for Everyone: All the Essential Techniques and 300 Simple-to-Sophisticated Recipes

I haven't decided to go all raw but I would like to incorporate more raw foods in my diet for the health benefits. I couldn't decide which way to go with this challenge because in the past I have always hated Christmas but I have had to admit to myself lately that now that I have children I really do enjoy it:-) So I read what has to be one of the most depressing books I have ever read. Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn

I had originally rated this as 2 stars, but bumped it up to 3 stars. (I rate most books I read as 3 -- they really have to work for the 4's and 5's!) What bothered me most about the audiobook both times is the female narrator. She just reads the text with little inflection and no voice changes for characters. The story itself is decent, and maybe I'll get around to reading some of the other books in the series someday.

I don't enjoy very many YA books, so these were suggested to me by other SRC members with the genre they fit in. I believe they are YA because the characters in them are teenagers. They fit in the genres I listed because in one the main character is dealing with love and living on his own (issues) and the other is considered paranormal because it has otherworldly characters and a kind of dream realm.
