Oh, yes! Rebecca's reading it too!"

Yes! I've been planning to reading it, but for some reason it fell down my to-read pile. Thought this was a great way to push it back up! It's gotten really high ratings, so I'm curious about reading it.

Judithe wrote: "Welcome, Rebecca!

Good questions, and I'll let Steph handle those, but a book you receive for Christmas should fit."

Thanks! My first yearly challenge. Loved the idea of Reading Resolutions!
And I hope so. They're almost like getting a gift card, except for skipping the step of buying the books yourself. ;) Although, as long as a book doesn't have to be in English, I guess borrowing books won't be that hard to arrange.

Absolutely. You can read books from any series, unless stated as "read #1" of a series.

A book you receive for Xmas would definitely work. If you don't get any for Xmas, we can figure out something else that may work for you.

You could go to a library for the "Save Money" one. I am borrowing books I think for that one. I am still working on my list.

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1242 comments Question: Regarding selecting a book from a friend's shelf.

Am I selecting a book that I don't already have?

Or am I looking for a book the friend has read, which I as own, but haven't gotten around to yet? (ex. I own Hunger Games, but I haven't read it yet).

Okay! And I'm pretty sure that I'm getting at least one book (I always do), so it should work out. :)

The libraries here don't have the books I read though... Otherwise it would have been a great solution. :)

That's completely up to you. You can pick either. It just has to be a book you haven't already read. :)

And, Hunger Games is a WONDERFUL choice! Fantastic series!

I so understand that! I'm returning a couple today that I just couldn't read...thought I'd try them for a challenge, but NO, just couldn't get into them. And they have basically NO paranormal. Great choice of classics though, LOL!

@Lily~I'd forgotten about Eldest...it's been on my TBR/physical shelf for ages! Another tentative book selected :D Lots of my fave books/series on your list!

Good, because that's the book I picked from your shelf. ;-)

Also, the Quit Smoking resolution -- how about firefighters? Or dragons? Going with the whole "smoke" theme.

I'm so looking forward to read them all, I've browsed through the group posts and seems like most of them have very nice reviews.

Re Eldest I've looked at it on the shelf for the past 3 years (along with Brisingr), but something else always comes first. The other book in that category (The Standing Dead) I'll only be reading because I don't like to leave my sereies unfinished, and this challenge is just the push I need!

Cross them off the list as you go. Put <.s.> before and <./s.> after each title (no periods) to cross them off. I believe we are editing the original post for this one. (Someone correct me if I am wrong?)

We have that here in Japan, but I prefer to read in English...and PNR/UF just aren't that popular in English here @ the libraries...I read to RELAX, and reading in Japanese just never feels like relaxing! ; ) Feeling serious envy attack when I think about libraries in the US & Aus!

message 80: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacybinnj) | 55 comments Question... can we change the books that we picked along the way?

@Judithe - not all of the libraries in the US are that great. Mine has a lot of good books but they don't carry many PNR/UF and if they do, the only carry a few books in the series. Plus I have to pay $155/year for the card (long irritating story)

No worries, ladies. Don't want it feeling like homework. Supposed to be fun. List after you read, as you read, before you read, up to you. I think Time to Climb Mt. TBR is our only "no changes" challenge. Those are most definitely rare around here.
