I'd love to do it... I'm new to Goodreads though and don't have any friends yet! Anybody want to be my friend??? LOL
How do you come up with all of these??? You are an evil genius tempting all challenge addicts....Of course I'm in (maybe I'll stick to Yearly Challenges next year).
Sounds fun enough so, I'm in of course. This should work good with Awesome V's challenge I almost forgot about. Looks like the rest of my busy year will have to spill over to the next LOL. Thanks, Steph for helping me beat that Dirty TBR into submission ;D
I just sent you a friend request Stacy! :)Steph--I have a question: 4 of my first 5 GR friends are my mom, 2 brothers & s-i-l. I haven't looked at their lists yet, but I have a feeling I'm going to have a problem. My 2 brothers read fantasy, so I should be able to find something there, but one only has 69 books on there and the other reads mostly stuff I have recommended, so I've probably alread read anything on his list I would want to. And my s-i-l only has 83 books. Plus, I don't think any of them have been on GR in probably a year.
Mind you, I have to go get ready for work, so I haven't even looked at their lists, but I figured others would have the same problem, so I'd be preemptive. :)
So...is it ok if we choose our 1st 5 actual GR friends? That is, people we met on GR who actually read the same kind of stuff we do?
Yeah I have a couple of new friends! LOL....I think for the Lose Weight book I'm going to choose The Witching Hour. I owned the book, never read it, gave it my sister (who read it) and now she's given it back to me. I think it's the perfect candidate. Plus it's over 1,000 pages long. Definately qualifies.
Great challenge idea!
I will give it a try. Since the categories seem easy to fill it shouldn't be difficult to work this in with other challenges. :) Which of my challenges are you referring to, Amber?

Yes, you can use the first five friends you made on GR, instead of family. :)
And, I'm happy to accept any friendvites if you need/would want more, Stacy (or anyone else).
Charlotte (Buried in Books) wrote: "What are we calling a chunky book - something over 450 pages?"Sorry I didn't specify. Yeah, 450+ sounds good, Charlotte.
Stacy, I read The Witching Hour last year, in fact it was about this time, I think. It was good, a killer hefty, but good. It definitely could've been shorter, IMO. I had a reading marathon one day and remember knocking out a massive chunk at once.
Awesomevegan wrote: "I will give it a try. Since the categories seem easy to fill it shouldn't be difficult to work this in with other challenges. :) Which of my challenges are you referring to, Amber?"Probably your Dirty Dozen challenge. But, just a guess. :)

It has a lot of historical detail on the family during the middle of the book. It is a very interesting read, and worth it. I read that book and the second book Lasher, but I haven't gotten around to finishing the series and reading Taltos.

I know... it's pretty warped. Kind of like soft porn but the problem is... I'm not into guy on guy, but I keep reading them! I keep asking myself, how on earth can she have so many concurrent relationships with so many men? And what exactly is going on with her and her Vampire Master? I don't get it but alas... I keep reading them.
I'd like to join!
I have a question though (or maybe two...). Should the two books in each category be/not be from the same series, or can you mix them as you want? :)
Also, can you use a book you've started reading, but never finished?
Then I have a problem. I don't borrow books, since no one I know reads the same books I do (and most PNR/UF books aren't available in Swedish, so they don't know much about them). I never get gift cards for other than clothes either, so I was wondering if maybe I could use books I get for Christmas instead? Otherwise I guess I could always go through mom's thrillers ;)
