The largest of the romance novel subgenres, contemporary romance novels are set in the time when they were written, and usually reflect the mores of their time
Vision in White
Historical
Historical romance is set before World War II.Many historical romances include contemporary attitudes, as, for example, the heroines often have far more education than was the norm in their time period.
The Bride
Erotica
Erotic romance, sometimes called romantica, is a blend of romance and erotica. Erotic romance novels are characterized by strong sexual content, but can contain elements of any of the other romance subgenres. Erotic romance novels tend to use more frank language, avoiding many of the euphemisms used in books with milder content. These novels also usually include more sex scenes, often focusing more on the sex act rather than being a more traditional love scene, and may include more unusual positions or acts.
Lisa's Gift
Paranormal
Paranormal romance blends the real with the fantastic or science fictional. The fantastic elements may be woven into an alternate version of our own world in an urban fantasy involving vampires, demons, and/or werewolves, or they may be more "normal" manifestations of the paranormal—humans with psychic abilities, witches, or ghosts. Time-travel, futuristic, and extraterrestrial romances also fall beneath the paranormal umbrella.
Acheron
Urban Fantasy
Urban fantasy is a subset of fantasy defined by place; the fantastic narrative has an urban setting. Many urban fantasies are set in contemporary times or contain supernatural elements.
Dreamfever
Fantasy
Fantasy is a genre that uses magic and other supernatural phenomena as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or setting. Many works within the genre take place in fictional worlds where magic is common. Fantasy is generally distinguished from science fiction in that it does not provide a logical (or pseudo logical) explanation for the scientifically impossible events that occur, though there is a great deal of overlap between the two (both are subgenres of speculative fiction).
Artemis Fowl
Romantic Suspense
Romantic suspense involves an intrigue or mystery for the protagonists to solve.[26] Typically, however, the heroine is the victim of a crime or attempted crime, and works with a hero, who tends to be in a field where he would serve as a protector, such as a police officer, FBI agent, bodyguard, or Navy SEAL. By the end of the novel, the mystery is resolved and the interaction between the hero and heroine has evolved into a solid relationship.
Wild Card
Steam Punk
Steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy.
The Iron Duke

I'm really, really tempted to do #7. Hardy Cates’ Hearty Appetite – Your choice of 9 or more “dishes” - 1 or more selected from each of the 9 “food groups.”
But 9 books? I dunno if I can do that much. LOL I'm trying to force myself to try new things.

I'm really, really tempted to do #7. Hardy Cates’ Hearty Appetite – Your choice of 9 or more “dishes” - 1 or more select..."
Maybe do St. Vincent's where there are 8 choices. I think starting at the beginning of the month will be easier. I don't care which one.

Let us know what you decide. You know we'd love to have you with us again!
Other than the starting date and not partaking of dishes you brought, it's flexible. You can make any changes to the reading list and even the "meal plan" that you need to.
This challenge is very experimental, too. But I'm LOVING the list that was compiled and can't wait to use it in future challenges, and add to the existing list as well.

Contemporary
1) Blue Dahlia
2) Smooth Talking Stranger
Historical
3) The Prize
4) Penelope & Prince Charming
Suspense
5) True Betrayals
Paranormal
6) Lover Eternal

You don't have to worry about that in my case because I'm not much of a re-reader. There are too many books out there that I'd like to get to!
I'd really try to make it because I want to discuss what we think of each other choices. I'm sure some people would say regarding the books I brought...you thought THAT was a good book, LOL!
It would be interesting if we could put together a list and vote among ourselves as to what we think were the best choices, once we read them. :)

Hey Dhes...now that you mention that...why don't you give a choice with less dishes provided people try something they wouldn't normally pick? (This wouldn't work for me because I've read at least 1 book from each category.:)
You have a better way to describing the names, LOL! but you could do something like:
Sir Ross' Exotic Ambrosia
Zachary's Succulent Confection

Knowing that everyone’s tastes differ, I asked you each to “bring” your favorite “dishes” to share, “tasty treats” that some of us may not have ventured to try before. The list of available “food” items to choose from can be found beginning in the next post. Also, because we all have different sized appetites, we’re offering a wide range of “meal plans.” Please choose from one of the following:
#1. Zachary Bronson's Barely a Bite - Choose 1 "dish" from a "food group" you've never tried before.
#2. Jack Travis’ Tantalizing Temptations – Your choice of any 3 or more “dishes,” selected from 1 or more “food groups.”
#3. Kev Merripen’s Manly Morsels – Your choice of any 4 or more “dishes” selected from any 2 or more “food groups.”
#4. Derek Craven’s Carnal Cravings – Your choice of any 5 or more “dishes” selected from any 3 or more “food groups.”
#5. Leo’s Luscious Libations – Your choice of any 6 or more “dishes” selected from any 4 or more “food groups.”
#6. Jack Devlin’s Devine Delectables – Your choice of any 7 or more “dishes” selected from any 5 or more “food groups.”
#7. Sebastian’s Scrumptious Sensations – Your choice of any 8 or more “dishes” selected from 6 or more “food groups.”
#8. Hardy Cates’ Hearty Appetite – Your choice of 9 or more “dishes” - 1 or more selected from each of the 9 “food groups.”
The “food groups” are as follows: Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance, Fantasy, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance, Romantic Suspense, Sci-Fi, Steampunk, and Urban Fantasy. (See Mandy’s post below for a description of each “food group.”)
Now, to make this a little more challenging for those more adventurous types amongst us, if you don’t feel like filling your own “plates,” you can ask one of the other “diners” to do it for you. Just choose someone, and if they are willing, let them know what “meal plan” you’d like and then sit back and wait for them to serve you.
This challenge begins November 1st and runs through November 30th. The only restriction is that you can’t “partake” of any of the “dishes” that you “brought,” because this challenge is about trying new things.
I’d like to thank all of you who brought something to share. There are offerings sure to please even the most discriminating pot luck palette, so please, help yourselves and don’t be afraid to sample something new.
Now, get ready to dig in!
