Well, Happy Early Birthday then! Celebrating birthdays should be a week-long event anyway. :D

I am itching to go back to Borders I just want to know if the sci fi books are reduced yet. But unlike you I have not brought my books for next semester so perhaps I should stay home LOL

Discount just jumped to 40-60% off entire store and an additional 15% if you still have your Borders Reward card... Checking to see if they are still getting new releases on Tuesday. BIG wish list of books coming out tommorrow!
I honestly have 2-3 yrs of reading from my TBR pile, might need an intervention. My Borders clerk said about two more weeks, so I compulsively picked up:
Lis wrote: "I honestly have 2-3 yrs of reading from my TBR pile, might need an intervention. REALLY need some kind of bookshelves.....)
That darn Borders closing sale.... I swear I had no off button either time that I went. I think the only thing that stopped me was that my arms got full. (Thanks to Borders, I think I very nearly own every Jacquelyn Frank book that is out. I ♥ her books.)
Alyssa wrote: "I think I very nearly own every Jacquelyn Frank book that is out. I ♥ her books..."I'm so glad I'm not the only one! And I started collecting the Jacquelyn Frank books from HPBs and finally got all the Nightwalkers and started with Jacob and really liked them. I was afraid they'd be too fluffy, but the storylines are good.
The Nightwalkers series was the first one I read. I think I saw some people reading Jacob in a group I'm in and just decided that I had to check it out. Bought the rest of the books that were out for the series soon after. I've been dying to Adam come out ever since. I really like the Nightwalkers series. I would say they're kind of similar to the Lords of the Underworld series, which is my current obsession. They each have the hot, steamy romance, but there's all this awesome action going on too. :-)

@Dawn - LOL - I am going to visit Tuesday hoping to pick up several new releases. Here is the latest email:Everything at Borders is now 50-70% off! The final weeks are here and Everything Must Go. Books, Music, Movies and even the store furniture is for sale.

LOL! Enabler hehe For sure - the lot of us!!! >:)
I haven't been to Borders but I might venture there this weekend. But most of my haul came I'm waiting on one more package.
Haha Steph, funny you should say that in my family we used to have Birthday Weeks, where we could do whatever we wanted for the week. My sister and I constantly fought over the TV and XBox so for that week we got to dictate when people could watch TV. It's not like that anymore because I no longer live at home but I'll always live with that motto - of Birthday's lasting a whole week. :D
So.... I did it again. I went to Borders. I'm just going to admit it. My name is Alyssa, and I am addicted to buying books. (At least right now....)So, here's what I got from Borders. (I'm actually feeling more happy than guilty, cuz a majority of what I got are books that I'm really interested in reading.)
I also went by B&N cuz I was looking for a few specific books. They didn't have any of them! I was dying to have them too. Super sad.
The two I got are ones I've wanted for a while, just not what I wanted right this second. *coos at books* Don't worry babies, I'll still love you just as much as the others.....
Almost done....
Two books I pre-ordered came out this week, and I ordered one other book. I pre-ordered
, and it got here today. Still waiting on my other pre-order,
, to get here. The other book is
.And finally.... I got two books from the library. They're gonna be fast fun reads, cuz technically they're for kids ages 8-12. I couldn't help myself, the first book sounded too cute. (I read it last week.) I enjoyed it, so I got the next two.
Ok. That should be it for like the rest of the year, sort of.... Minus a few new releases that I can't live without, like
,
,
, and
.I really really could use a free bookshelf right now..... (I think I've bought at least 30 books from Borders in like the last 5 weeks. Whoops.) I think I need to join a support group.... *sighs*
Went to Borders because of all the lovely ladies that have been talking about it. I feel like I scored big time! I might not have gotten a lot of books but I'll explain...Here's what I picked up:
Swoon was marked $2.99 as a bargain book but it wasn't really a bargain book, but the cashier gave it to me as one anyways so it ended up being $1.20. She also forgot to charge me for Forbidden, so I got it for free. I didn't even realize until I got home and looked at my receipt. I noticed the total was less than I expected but I just thought I miscalculated.
Final days are here, Border's clerk told me 10 more days... and there are still some bargains to find in PNR...
My splurges:
and
in audio.
I just got an email from Borders with a big EVERYTHING 60-80% off -- last week! Man, I really wanna splurge! Wonder if I can sneak some funds from the hubster without him knowin'? And, of course, by some funds I mean A LOTTA dough. I just know I'd go wild with such a sale. So, I'm being good and staying clear. As much as it pains me to say that. :(
LOL! Just opened that e-mail a little bit ago and trying to figure out how to squeeze another trip into the budget.
I plan on stopping by Borders this weekend... but I'm not sure if I should. I've had like three big hauls in the last two weeks of books and I don't think I can fit anymore. I wish I could post a pic of my bookshelves to show that they are bursting at the seams.
Me either! I have enough books to be able to read for several years......but I still went to HPB and got about 7 or 8 more on the 31st. I had a coupon that was going to expire.....I had to go....it wasn't an option!
I'm going to Borders today. It's been decided haha My fiance owes me Bday presents so I'm making him take me to Borders :D Nothing better than getting books especially if I can get a whole bunch for cheap. Cindy, I have so many books I haven't read that I could probably spend two years (or at the very least one) reading only books I own and I wouldn't finish. Coupons are always, always at the top of the must use pile. You can never let a coupon go to waste! It's horrible, the coupon just sits there like: why won't you use me?? I'm yours to be used!! ;)
Sarah - I could probably read for 6 years without buying anything else, or rereading any of my keepers. Luckily, I have a very small stash of keepers.....well, when you compare it to the massive mountainous stacks of TBR books. :)Just buying the books has become an addiction in itself. It didn't really get out of control until my DD and her family moved back in with me. It seems like my books are the only things in the whole house that are just for ME! So, I'm collecting my comfort objects. At least they are useable. Not just little knick-knacks and stuff.
Enjoy the picking and choosing! Be sure to let us know what all you came home with.....
Cindy - I completely understand the whole addiction thing. I definitely have a problem. See the thing is I get financial aid for school and although I spend the majority of it on school I do have enough left over to go crazy with so in the last year and a half I've been buying books like crazy! Plus with Borders going out of business it's been nuts! The two Borders stores that were by my house went out of business at the beginning of the year, now the one by my mom's house is shutting down so I've been there twice. I did go crazy once again so here's what I got...
Also through a swap I got:
Unfortunately, all our Borders closed several months ago......otherwise I would be right there with you!Did you get the swap book thru GR?
I was very, very bad at Borders on Friday night. How bad was I you ask? Bad enough that I'm probably going to have to go on a PB & J diet . . . for the next month!! Eat, read, eat, read - which do I choose? LOL.
I got some really good deals though.
SF/F at 60% off made the regular pb $3.20 each and the two trade $5.98.
Kittredge & Chance filled in some holes in series that I want to continue reading at some point. I love Devon Monk's series, but I borrowed the first one from the library the first time. Since I know I might reread these at some point, I had to go ahead and pick it up too.
70% off romance made the pb $2.40 and the trade size $4.95
A friend went with me and she really enjoyed herself watching me as I sat and sorted through a great big pile. I managed to weed out another 11-15 books that had found their way into basket. When I went to put them on the reshelving cart and started looking that over, she motioned me back over, mouthing "Stop that."
Time? Never seems to be enough of that stuff laying around. It wouldn't be so bad. Except, like many SOS members, I have an out of control TBR shelf groaning under the weight I force it to carry. If wood could speak, it would be shouting for mercy. LOL. On top of that, I currently have 24 books that I've checked out sitting in my library basket. Those tend to float to the top of my list and the TBR shelf keeps expanding. I look at it this way: I'm saving up reading materials for when I retire and can't afford to buy so many books.
I have an Ikea coffee table with 6 spaces for baskets. I filled the spaces with books instead. Can't move the table anymore.
So jealous of those prices, even when our Borders was closing, prices were $8+, down from $16-$25. And that's why I buy from BD.Nice haul ladies!
Nice Daffodil!! I wish the Borders I went to had a good selection but, alas, there were barely any SF/F and even fewer Romances. :) I don't have enough time to read anything anymore haha but I still try to squeeze in what I can.
This particular Borders continued to get new shipments from the warehouse throughout most of the process -- probably because it's a high traffic store. Champaign, IL home of the U of I and the major shopping mecca for most of the little towns in the area (we're about 30-40 minutes away in our town). There were still lots of books all over the store. The biography shelves were still packed. I never even made it over the mystery section or the cookbook section, I figured I better not chance it. LOL. There were lot's of DVD deals too. My friend walked out with the entire Thin Man movie set for $24. I was kind of jealous, but I know we'll have a TM marathon together some weekend.
