To Splurge or Not To Splurge

for sure, although that would probably be cheaper to purchase online if you have an ereader.
was really good. I'm blanking on any others right now. Have fun on your shopping trip!P.S. You're right. It's super irritating when Walmart doesn't have the whole series... or at least the first book.
Sooo jealous, Daffodil! I wish I was going to Champaign. I love the food at Sarku Japan in the food court in the mall. I've been dying to have it since I moved away.Since you don't have great book shopping in your town, I'd suggest a Barnes and Noble membership. I get free shipping, and they send coupons to my e-mail probably once a month. Also, if you read any teen books, half the time they have them discounted a little bit online. Also, sometimes when I pre-order some books, they're discounted too. I've ordered some for like 45% off. I haven't really seen the $6.99/$7.99 paperbacks discounted, but sometimes the hardcovers are.
Although, if I didn't have the membership and I had to rely more on my library, I'd probably have more money in my pocket. So, there's that itty-bitty downside to it.

I've considered the B&N membership, but haven't bought it yet. I got burned with the Waldenbooks membership. I'd been a member of the free one for years, finally gave in and paid the extra money for the next level and then they announced their bankruptcy and closing within a couple months. GRRRR! And while I got a lot of great books at clearance price, I could have saved the money I spent on the membership fee.
I have a question, with the B&N membership, is that free shipping all the time, no matter what you spend? No minimum?
I was very bad! Spent more than I should in B&N, but I had a great time browsing. All but 2 books were a continuation of series that I'm anxious to get to. (I love Mr Randomizer's choice of Series Catch-Up for BINGO this week. The hard part is choosing which one!!!)
1 book from a favorite author, but new series
And 1 book from a totally new author
Unfortunately I just checked out reviews for it and it might be a bad choice, we'll see.I took your advice, Alyssa, and bought the membership. Thanks.
Lol. No probs, Daffodil.I love it..... but, I would probably have a bunch more money if I didn't have it.... It's deliciously evil. :-)
I have to share this with ya'll because I know that you will understand but I just had to give in and I finally pre-ordered:
not to mention that I recently bought:
So I've been out of control recently (Amazon needs to take some of the blame since they are dropping prices everywhere).Kindle:
Paperback
(for my nan though so it doesn't really count)Pre-ordered
and almost
(but it was the wrong cover) and
(still might)Waaaaahh! I don't want to see my bill :'(
Went to Champaign to have dinner with family and of course I had to stop at B&N. ;DWally world has been slim pickings on some author's I usually buy so I was finally able to pick up:
I also picked up a few NA at the library, but I was interested in:
I could have easily gotten ton's more, but I resisted temptation.
My order came in at the bookstore, so I went back to Champaign and picked up:
It looks interesting and I can't wait to start reading some of the essays.Of course I couldn't leave with just one book and also picked up:
OOhhh, that looks interesting Daffodil, you'll have to let me know what its like. Since Christmas I've acquired
and
both great coffee table books :)
CyberAlmu,I'm anxiously waiting for the release of
. Enjoy Web of Lies, I really like this series and have
on my TBR.
I've had to restrain myself until after my birthday in August as I'm in a birthday group on bookcrossing. I can't risk buying anything on my wishlist for the next few months...*shakes uncontrollably*
OK just realised its been a long, long time since I posted my splurgies, so its gonna be a long list, sorry people. These are the ebooks I bothered to write down:
Sarah, all my bookshelves are groaning. LOL.I loved Helen Harper's series, looking forward to the new one in Feb. And I forgot to add Clean Sweep as well :)
And I didn't include Game of Throne's series, as I bought it for hubby to read, as he loves the TV show. He's on book #2 which is a great achievement as he isn't a reader. At least I don't have to share the bookcases. ROFL.
I didn't know there was going to be another book! I am only a little bit into Blood Politics and I can't deny that although I Love Mack she needs to get it together! Some parts move slow, but she always hooks me in the end. I love the show too, that's why I bought the series when the bundle was reduced for Black Friday! $9.99 for all the books. I could not resist
It's a new series,
due 14 Feb.I was so sad when I heard the series ended, that I took my time reading the last 2 books. I probably should read them all again, closer together. You're right they hook you right in.
That's a great price on GoT, I think we paid just under $50 for the paperback set. There is no way hubby would read it any other way.
Sandra and Sarah, loved looking through your purchases, my to-buy and maybe lists grew a little bit.Sandra -- I was thrilled to see that Jayne Castle's (JAK) Guinevere Jones books are finally being re-released in print. I'm calling the bookstore to order these tonight.
Some of the ones I purchased I have read before: Downside Ghosts series, Jane Yellowrock series, Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, Blood Red Road, and Outlander. They are all excellent!! The most recent purchased/read are Foreplay by Sophie Jordan which was good, Rush by Maya Banks was interesting LOL but I'll probably continue with the series, A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers was good, Hopeless by Colleen Hoover was amazing!, Too Far series by Abbi Glines was good I was definitely hooked and read all three in the series in a day and a half, and I would also recommend the Blood Destiny series by Helen Harper. Sorry that was such a run on sentence haha.
Daffodil, I was thrilled to bits as well.OK, so what have been favs so far, considering I haven't read them all, by a long way.
anything by JAK,
and I enjoy the ebooks of Viola Grace and Eve Langlais
Oh yeah, babe! Now I remember why I haven't been on this thread for awhile. >;) Sooo many purdy purdy books. These are the books that I can remember - bought since Xmas. I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting. I have been sticking with eBooks mostly.
Bought but TBR
Bought & Read
Pending Pre-orders (out in next 30-ish days)
@Sarah: Lol! The ones you've mentioned as your faves I have either read or put them on my TBR when browsing your purchases - great minds... :D@Sandra: GTK that you've loved a lot of the later books in series - I've been meaning to read Arcadia Bell as I have heard good things!
@Steph: This thread is responsible for so many increases in my TBR :P
Wow, can't believe series like Jane Yellowrock is on book #7 and Elemental Assassin is on #10 - it seems like only recently they were new and I marked them as to-read, meaning to start the series.... and I still haven't got round to it, and now I've got so much catching up to do :)

I've gotten so far behind on some - Gini Koch's Kitty Katt series, for one. I was 1-2 books behind and now I'm 5+. O.o LOL!
I'm too embarrassed to show all my purchases... But a FYI to anyone wanting to pick up the Mystic Wolves series, the first one is a freebie. The Mystic Wolves But, I was able to get the box set for $2.99 US on amazon. Which includes:
and the novella
.
Just had a look at the Mystic Wolves bundle & as I've got MW & VMC, its actually cheaper for me to buy #2 & #3 separately. The bundle was $6.82 AUD. But thanks anyway Lis.And I echo Steph!! List those goodies, be an enabler :D
Sandra wrote: "And Steph, why did you preorder
? It was in
which you've already read."Ah, hell, I don't know! >;p I always pre-order anything by Nalini and forgot to check if I'd read the anthology it was previously in. Oh well.

I have a list started already:
My question is: Are there any brand new series that have come out in the past year or so that I absolutely should check out?
