Morning ladies!! Just taking a break from the treadmill (had to move my car so hubby could get his bike out to go to work teaching people to ride)
Vicki, you were up very early!!
Bette, how's the sleep going?

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne. Learning to turn over after I wake and scrounge another hour's sleep. I'm up at 4am now rather than 3am:):) The hypnotism is working even though I was sceptical (is that spelling correct?) at first.

Glad to hear it! Anything that can help without side effects is surely a plus!
might be "skeptical"?
Everything I type on GR posts with doubtful spelling has the red squiggly underline and if I right-click on that it offers alternatives (though one has to be careful with those!)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne. Thanks for the correct spelling of skeptical and how to right-click to check correct spelling. I didn't know that feature. I usually try to pop over to Word and check spelling there but yesterday I had Word stumped as well with 'sceptical'. Sometimes my spelling brain hasn't got out of bed yet:)

And...Good Morning:)

I use English English so it is sceptical to me. Skeptical is American English. So either is fine:) You can let your spelling brain stay in bed.

Oh, I prefer English English too, didn't realise GR defaulted to American, though I guess that should have been obvious... I do ignore a lot of the red squiggly lines, like the one under "realise" because I simply CAN'T write "realize"

message 13922: by B the BookAddict (last edited Sep 14, 2014 02:31PM) (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Phrynne. Brain has wandered through lounge room and toddled right back to bed:)

Word must also default to American English as it didn't recognise sceptical; damn thing threw me into a loop.

@Marianne I prefer the English English version of words too.

I wonder, did Ashleigh get a kitty?

Yes, I ignore them too :) Can't do those 'z's' at all!

message 13924: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9990 comments @Bette you can set Word to the English version you prefer. From the Review tab, click Language, then Set Proofing Language. Mine has a choice of English (Australian), English (US) or English (UK). I also have Dutch (for when I write in Dutch).

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne. Thanks for that info; done!

@Ashleigh. I realise you know your parents (as I do not)and what their reactions would be if you got one now. Good luck and I hope you're successful.

My parents could always be taken in by a sob-story e.g. it was lost, someone was going to drown it etc.

Same here, also nice for going for a walk to check the mail while the washing is doing itself, hopefully the clouds will hold off dropping anything until it's all dry...

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments Ashleigh wrote: "So I bought myself a small soft toy cat for now. I was going to tell Dad I got a cat and then show him but I'm not that mean."

Haha! That's funny. My kids and husband once asked me about them getting a puppy by sending me a text message with a picture of said puppy sitting inside our laundry, while I was in Singapore. I was only there for four days, but by the time I got home, the puppy was moved in and had a name.

He's now five years old and called Jace. Which is a problem if you've ever tried to read City of Bones - when I read that book the first time, the name Jace elicited not a blond, Greek God type character, but a little black staffie/kelpie cross with penetrating brown eyes...

It took me about three books before I could read 'Jace' without thinking of our dog, Brenda! It was most disconcerting.

C.A. Hocking (cahocking) Good morning! Just had our first breakfast outside for the season. Has been bitterly cold in the mornings here in Canberra, even when it's sunny and still. It rained overnight and this morning was warm, humid and the air was delicious! Makes me want to eat properly, lose 5kilos and walk every day. Sigh.

It's too miserable to eat outside in Sydney today but think I might join you in the lose 5 kilos and walk every day.

message 13943: by C.A. (new)

C.A. Hocking (cahocking) Veronica, at least join me in my INTENTION to lose 5 kilos and walk every day. Even bigger sigh.
Actually, it's so gorgeous outside, I just might follow through on that walk, but first an hour of writing. Am setting the timer ... now!

message 13945: by C.A. (new)

C.A. Hocking (cahocking) Two hours of writing, a tea break then I stepped outside - and it's windy and about to rain. Missed my moment! Wind chill straight off the alps - too cold to walk, even rugged up. Should have gone this morning when it was still and warm. Will keep that in mind for tomorrow morning. Good intentions still intact.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3569 comments We've had the weirdest weather in the Upper Hunter today! Began bright and sunny, clouded briefly, then the biggest crash of thunder followed by a few drops of rain, pea sized hail, and now it's perfect again.

Dog and I enjoyed a jog/walk together. (After the hail.)

We are getting similar weather to that in northern Sydney right now. Thunder is rolling around in the distance.
I have just finished packing my suit case. I'm off on my holidays in a couple of hours. We are going to cruise from Moscow to St.Petersburg. Can't wait:)

You could always do what I did, when i was about 13 or 14. Both my friend & I got a kitten from a house with a "kittens to give away" sign out the front, then took them home & told our parents we found them abandoned in the local churchyard :)

Not that I am advocating lying to parents of course, obviously I was a terrible child :)
