Time to Go Back for Seconds! Read book #2 for those series that, for whatever reason, you've only read #1 so far. Read one book per calendar month.
August
Doomsday Can Wait, Lori Handeland, 8-8-10 Much better than the first book in this series. I almost didn't pick it up because the first one left me feeling ambivilent. The third book isn't at the top of my TBR pile, but it's definitely in the stack somewhere.
Also read:
Blood Cross, Faith Hunter, 8-3-10 2nd in the Skinwalker series. It will be interesting to see where Jane's journey takes her.
Death Blows, DD Barant, 8-12-10 Criminal profiler stranded on alternate Earth where pure humans account for about 1% of the population. Great follow up, already eagerly awaiting the third.
Seraphs, Faith Hunter, 8-1-10 I'm not as big a fan of Hunter's Rogue Mage series as I am of her Skinwalker series. I am curious about where she is going with this though.
Changeless, Gail Carriger, 8-19-10 As soon as I started, I remembered how much I enjoyed the first book. I'm not quite sure why it took me so long to pick up the second book, but I'll definitely be buying the third when it comes out in a few weeks. Additonal note: Not happy with the major cliffhanger ending, but I won't repeat my rant here.

September
Catching Fire, Suzanne Collins, 9-24-10 I really enjoyed this follow up to The Hunger Games. As soon as I was done I wanted to pick up Mockingjay. Unfortunately it may be a while before I can get it.
Also Read:
Tracking the Tempest,Nicole Peeler Doesn't really count. Started but didn't finish.

October
Desire Unchained, Larissa Ione, 10-2-10 Even better than the first book in the series. Already on the lookout for book three.
Also Read:
Wanderlust, Ann Aguirre, 10-7-10 Sirantha Jax really did some maturing in this book. We also receive interesting information about why her Jump abilities are different from others'. Will definitely continue on with this serie.
Tracking The Tempest, Nicole Peeler, 10-27-10 Restarted from beginning on 10-10-10. Once I got past the first couple chapters, the action picked up and I zipped right through. Still think Jane's with the wrong guy, LOL.
Midnight Sins, Cynthia Eden, 10-27-10 Good solid story. More info about the world and different demons is given. I'm really looking forward to the third book.

November
Bad to the Bone, Jeri Smith-Ready, 11-3-10 JSR does a wonderful job of creating characters that are complex and realistic. It's easy to believe they have a life off the page and don't just exist for the scenes they are written into. She's gifted the vampires of WVMP radio with complete personalities and quirks all their own. Will definitely read the next one.
Also Read:
Skin Tight, Ava Gray, 11-15-10 Okay, I'm going to try and keep this as spoiler free as possible, so I hope this doesn't come across as too vague. Great read! AG has introduced some intriguing and unique abilities into her Skin universe. And in this book, she provided a little more explanation about how they came about. I liked the relationship that developed between Mia and Addison Foster/Thomas Strong. Yes, his initial attraction to her was more or less selfish. But that's not unusual and it changed. He still valued what initially attracted him, but he also came to value her for herself. Like others, I was hoping Gillie (secondary character) could have contributed something to another situation in the book, but from the description of her abilities I don't think it works on injuries, just diseases. I could be wrong though. Hopefully we'll see more of her in the future and find out.

December
Web of Lies, Jennifer Estep, 12-10-10 Gin's strong personality and self-awareness are just part of what makes her such an interesting character. Interesting is good. Gin knows who she is, feels no need to justify her actions and makes no apologies for her chosen profession, unconventional even in crime-ridden Ashland. That's why her continued attraction to Donovan is slightly annoying; it's patently obvious he's never going to accept her completely. It's human nature to sometimes want what we cannot have, but Gin doesn't seem the type to let that dictate her actions. Yet, she continued to hope that Donovan would change his mind. This minor problem is far outweighed by the fascinating world of vampires, dwarves, giants and elementals that Estep has created. The plot is engaging and the action moves forward nicely. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.
Also Read:
Up in Smoke, Katie MacAlister, 12-15-10 Entertaining read, MacAlister blends humor and romance wonderfully. And of course, Jim's back. How can you go wrong with a demon Newfie!?
Unholy Magic, Stacie Kane, 12-20-10
Dark and gritty UF. Deliciously macabre in spots. Definitely will keep reading this series.

January
Alien Tango, Gini Koch, 1-21-11 5 Stars. I loved this book! Gini Koch does a wonderful job of blending humor and action. The voice she gives Kitty is snappy edging on sarcastic, but never annoying.

February
Archangel's Kiss, Nalini Singh, 2-3-11 4.5 stars. Singh's Psy-Changeling series is still my favorite, but there's something darkly enticing about this series. Kiss drew me in from the moment I picked it up and held me captivated until I finished. One thing bothered me, the ending sequence was a trifle anticlimactic after the tremendous build up throughout the book about the dangers of Lijuan's court.
Also Read:
Bayou Moon, Ilona Andrews, 2-14-11 Once I picked up this book I didn't want to put it down until I finished and, except for work, I didn't. It had been a while since I read the first book, but it didn't matter. Andrews' vivid descriptions and wonderfully unique characters drew me right back into the world of the Edge. Cerise is perfect for William, a strong character with a wild side. I'm hoping her entire family will appear in future books.
Bloodfever, Karen Marie Moning, 2-21-11 Moning draws you right into Mac's world. She's had to change a lot in order to survive and I'm looking forward to book 3.
Out of the Darkness, Jaime Rush, 2-22-11 I enjoyed this much more than the first book. Darkness' romantic focus is on a different couple, but the plot still centers around the Offspring as a group. Zoe and Brand make an interesting couple, both loners for differing reasons. I liked the fact that Amy & Lucas' relationship was touched upon instead of being ignored in favor of the new couple. I'm definitely going to be reading more in this series.

March
Goddess of Spring, P.C. Cast, 3-14-11 I enjoyed this much more than the first book in the series. I loved the twists P.C. Cast created on various myths such as Orpheus & Eurydice. The relationship between Lina and Hades was interesting, both successful and mature, but secretly insecure in little ways. Those tiny insecurites are what eventually complicate the relationship. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Also Read:
House of Cards, C.E. Murphy, 3-24-11 Although I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the first book, it was still a pretty fun read. I'm fascinated with the bits and pieces of history being revealed about Janx and Daisani. Competing against each other, tbey still regard each other with certain kind of respect and seem to have had a closer relationship in the past. Frenemies! LOL. Alban's determination to not involve Margrit in Old Race dealings came way to late, Janx and Daisani were just as determined to keep her involved. Frankly, Alban was upstaged by Janx and Daisani. Also, I'm not quite feeling the attraction between Alban and Magrit, but I am willing to see if it grows on me in the final book.
There are still 2 dangling threads from the first book that have been bothering me and I really hope they are resolved in the last book of the trilogy. (view spoiler)

The Dead-Tossed Waves, Carrie Ryan, 4-4-11 I kept debating between 4 and 5 stars and it finally came down to one simple truth: I sacrificed sleep last night because I had to finish this book, coming to work on less than 3 hours just because I couldn't put the thing down. The world Ryan has built is fascinating, she's put thought into the various ways society would rebuild and deal with the unconsecrated/mudo problem. I do have a technical problem with the number of zombies still roaming around. They're dead, they continue to decay and fall apart. The numbers initially seen are believable. I can even give the number of dead tossed up from the ocean floor by storms a pass, salt water acting as a preservitive is possible. The sticking point is the horde, how could there be an active horde so many generations later. Given the current decreased population, they couldn't all be recent dead. It's a question that occurred to me. But you know what, since it didn't occur to me until after I'd already finished the book, it didn't interfere with my reading enjoyment. I will definitely be reading the third book.
Also Read:
Don't Talk Back To Your Vampire, Michele Bardsley, 4-21-11 I enjoyed Eva's story even more than Jessica's. And though there's still not a lot of plot about adjusting to life as a vampire parent, I felt as if there was more than in the first book. Will definitely read more in this series.
Fade, Lisa McMann, 4-27-11 Good follow up to Wake. I still think the writing style is a perfect reflection of Jane's life, so it's a good fit. My sticking point, the thing that lowered this from 4 stars, is I can't quite believe Jane and Cabel's involvement in the investigation. Yes, technically, they are over 17. But, they're both still in high school. I just can't quite get my head in suspension-of-disbelief mode and that throws me out of the story. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this and I plan on reading book 3.

April

May
To Tame A Highland Warrior, Karen Marie Moning, 5-9-11 Fun read. Nothing spectacular, but I will continue on to the next book.

June
Quicksilver, Amanda Quick, 6-11-11 Second book in the Looking Glass Trilogy. Loved learning more about the Sweetwaters. Virginia & Owen were typical Quick leads, but I still really enjoyed reading about their relationship.
Also Read:
Once Upon Stilettos, Shanna Swendson, 6-18-11 Not quite as good as the first one, but still a fun read. I'll definitely be continuing.
Primal Bonds, Jennifer Ashley, 6-26-11 Loved another visit with the Morrissey family.

February 2011 Update
Completed: 7/12
