Janice (jamasc) I finished American Gods and it was great! I haven't given out a lot of 5 stars this year, but that one rates. :)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 219 comments I am rereading The Once and Future King, trying to get the whole way through it this time.

Library Lady 📚 | 91 comments I'm working on White Oleander by Janet Fitch . I've seen the movie, but the book is better--it's hard to put a book with such poetic writing on the screen and get it right, I guess.

I love that book! One of my faves. The movie sucks in comparison - it cuts out years of Astrid's life.

message 1558: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 293 comments I decided to go with Don't Breathe a Word. I've really been wanting to read it for awhile.

Re: The Ruins - it's funny that there are so many haters in this group. Everyone loves it over on HA, it was all the high praise that made me want to read it in the first place. I liked the movie, so I imagine I'll be in the camp that likes the book too :)

Hi, Lena!

I've wanted to read White Oleander for a few years now. And it has been on my "to-read" list for quite some time..

Did it ever get better? IJ is one of my all time favs, but it took me somewhere about 200+ pages to get into it. But for me it was worth it.

Erasmo Soares (erasmosoares) | 1 comments I'm reading Duma Key, it became the first King book I´ve left for a while, not just because I took a long time to read but I felt a little disappointed. I´m a fan of Stephen King and hope to read all of his books, I´m looking forward on read another one.

message 1562: by Scott (new)

Scott | 401 comments Duma Key was excellent. I just read it earlier this year. Enjoy!

I finished Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban last night and I started The Summer I Died this morning.

It started out really good and then it just didn't work out for me. I like books where there's at least some redeeming qualities in the characters or the story.

I'm almost done with Carrie by Stephen King and to lighten things up after the last few books I've read, I'm also reading Bridget Jones's Diary (Bridget Jones, #1) by Helen Fielding . I really needed it!

message 1566: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Copeland (allhailpants) | 3 comments I just finished The Shining, which was awesome and a million times better than the movie(aren't they all!!) so now I'm moving on to Salem's Lot, then I have some books I won in the Goodreads giveaways to read and review next :)

So what you're saying is that White Oleander didn't particularly work for you, Lena..

I wish I could have read the two that came before In Winter's Shadow first... I guess there's no time limit though, so who knows, maybe I can find them in the library :)

Eventually though, when I get it written, I'll be reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs next.

Jeff Just purchased my first King novel today ... Carrie. 20 pages in and I am really enjoying it. Getting a very unsettled feeling regarding what Carrie is gonna do once she gets her ultimate revenge on all those who have made fun of and made her life hell.
