I'm enjoying it so far, reminds me a little of the writing styles of Preston and Child and their Pendergast series..."

I've read all of the Pendergast books as well as the Alienist and never made that connection myself, but I do love the writing styles of both.

Susanna (jb_slasher) Started Orwell's Animal Farm last night. Had to force myself to put the book down since I had to wake up early this morning. I can't wait to get home and finish it!

message 1770: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Susanna-

Have you read 1984?

message 1771: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) I have, and it wasn't really my cup of tea. But for some reason Animal Farm kept my interest all the way through.

message 1772: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Oh, okay. I haven't read Animal Farm...yet.

message 1773: by Beth (new)

message 1774: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 701 comments Courtney wrote: "I loved Gods Behaving Badly! Very cute and different!"

I'm finding it cute but not very different. I think it's because I read Fated about a year or two ago and loved the heck out of that book.

message 1775: by Megan (new)

Megan (trixiekitten) | 25 comments Well, recently I've been reading whatever my co-workers throw at me. Right now its Dead Watch by John Sandford. I'm not very far along, it has some interesting ideas, but I'm not huge into political thrillers because, though I like thrillers, I'm just not that into politics :( Not in fiction-novel terms, anyway.

message 1776: by Chena (new)

Chena (chena16) I'm reading The Native Star by M.K. Hobson! It started out a little slow for my taste, but it's picking up now. I'm enjoying the banter between the main characters :-).

message 1782: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) Hi Dustin,

I finished Part One last night. Sal somehow surprised me, I didn't expect him to be... I don't know what but it's a pleasant surprise. I'm undecided on whether I like it or not but I'll certainly keep reading.

Breanna (began1988) | 13 comments Right now I'm reading Weave World by Clive Barker, someone King praises very highly for this scary novel. About 30 pages into it right now, can't wait for the scary stuff to start happening! :)

message 1787: by Char (new)

Char I finished Resurrection:Zombie Epicand thought it was ok. I then read a short novella The Shelter. I really like this author (James Everington) and find his writing to be very reiminiscent of Stephen King's earlier work.
I am currently reading GARDENS OF NIGHT
which is good, but mysterious so far.

Hi, Susanna-

That's great! Keep me posted, please. I love hearing about how pieces of work are perceived, you know, because I think every readers' experience is different. Especially with Classic literature such as On The Road.

I have to agree with you on that one.

message 1791: by Susanna (last edited Nov 28, 2011 11:14PM) (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) Dustin,

The book certainly does live up to its name. I think I have some trouble reading classic literature. If it doesn't grab me, I don't know what to make of it. So far, On The Road keeps me reading but it isn't really grabbing me. I guess I'm still trying to figure out why Sal is so keen on following Dean (aside from the obvious) and what will eventually become of it.

message 1792: by Denis (new)

Denis Pedersen | 44 comments read "Rivers of London" by Ben Aaronovitch a little while ago... I highly recommend it ;)

message 1793: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments I have to say, about "Weaveworld" - there are some extremely memorable bits in it, some I'll never forget -- On the whole, however, it's not the type of book I truly care for.

message 1794: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Really, Bondama!?

message 1795: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 701 comments I have Weaveworld on TBR. I found it at a used bookstore and my boyfriend highly recommended it.

message 1796: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) I loved Weaveworld its my 2nd favorite Barker novel were the sexual bits what bugged you Bondama or the way he handled fairies?

message 1797: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 701 comments now I'm curious, what's your #1 favorite Barker novel?
