Darn you, Bondama!! I was trying not to think of that..LOL. Great point; I don't even think Roland knows. Still was so tragic... *tears up again*.hahaha

I picked up Titans of Chaos last year at the dollar store not knowing it was part of a series, so now the other ones are on my want-list... are they any good?

Veronica (veraj121) | 300 comments I am hooked on the Harry Potter series. I am reading the 3rd book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

No matter what you think of the first book, make sure you continue with the second one. That is where things really start to pick up.

I hated the first book. In my opinion, it is the worst King that I've read so far. However, the rest of the series is really good.

message 1655: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (stacienr) I love the dark tower series and I haven't even read the last one yet...even though I got all but that one for Christmas last year...maybe I'll get it this year. I also cannot wait for the new one to come out...I think it is going to be called The Wind Through the Keyhole

Dustin Bondama wrote: "Ah, but where and who would Roland be without his Quest?"

Hi, Bondama!

That's just it. Roland would be no one if not for his Quest. It's the very essence of his character, IMO.

message 1657: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Copeland (allhailpants) | 3 comments I'm re-reading The Gunslinger. Recently bought the unedited, pre-expanded first edition, so I'm super excited to see the differences between the two!

Dustin That's cool, Amanda!!

message 1663: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Debra-

I absolutely LOVE Under the Dome!:)

Happy reading, everyone!

message 1664: by Scott (new)

Scott | 401 comments I finished The Godwulf Manuscript. It was enjoyable. I also realized that these books were what the TV series Spenser for Hire was based on. I will definitely read more of them.

Now I'm going to start Hammerhead Ranch Motel since it became available from the library yesterday.

message 1665: by Derick (new)

Derick (derick311) | 4 comments I am reading Full Dark No Stars. 1922 was a real good story and I did not see the ending coming as it did.

Ciqu Just about to start the new King (22.11.63 or 11.22.63) and I am super excited... Its a big tome and heavy too and highly embargoed but I am not daunted at all... The Stand and Wizard & Glass are my favourite Kings and they were hardly short works of fiction! :)

How do you have a copy of it when it doesn't come out until November?

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Maybe Ciqu has a pink Kindle... :P

message 1677: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I started A Stir of Echoes by Richard Matheson last night, and should finish it in a little while. It's pretty short. Very good though, so far. I love Matheson's writing. It's so simple and unpretentious, but draws me in and holds me. Good stuff.

I've seen the movie of course, and it's a good one except for one part that gives me the queasies... *shudder* -- but so far the book is actually quite different from the movie, so I'm not sure where it's going.

It seems like every movie adapted from a book of Matheson's (at least of the ones I've read) has been changed drastically from the book. Not that they aren't both good, but they are more "loosely based on" versions rather than "book to film adaptations".

Anyway... Rant over. That's what I'ma readin'! ;)

Must be an ARC..

message 1680: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Becky!

I really enjoy A Stir of Echos.:) And you're right, Matheson's novel is quite a bit different from the film.

message 1685: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) Dude. After two months of reading, I finally finished The Stand. I've been so busy lately that I've had to let the book rest for a while but I always came back to it. Oh Uncle Stephen, how much do I adore you. Next I'm going to watch the miniseries. I remember seeing it on TV and loving it when I was a kid. I don't remember much about it anymore so I am pretty excited to watch it again.

I already hopped onto the next book which is just the opposite of The Stand size-wise: Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, a mere 200 pages. Oh how I've missed reading some Chuck. Finally. <3

message 1686: by Dani (new)

Dani Landry (danilandry) I just read the novella The Turtle Boy. Mr Burke is a fine horror writer and reminds me much of King. I think this was a free or .99 cent Kindle download. First in a series. I was pleasantly surprised and gave it 4 stars.

Almost done with Gathering Blue. Loved The Giver so much I have to read the whole trilogy. Then I will probably move on to The Strain.

Julie Henry (happilyderanged) I just started re-reading The Tommyknockers. I first read it many years ago, and though I didn't like it that much at the time, I thought I'd give it another try. Now I have that little rhyme running through my head all of the time...

Late last night and the night before,
Tommyknockers, Tommyknockers, knockin' at the door

Melissa ~ Recreational Hobbyist (recreationalhobbyist) | 10 comments I'm about half way through Under the Dome..actually about to try and put a bigger dent in it tonight. So far I'm really enjoying it. I'll be tackling the Game of Thrones series next, but I have Just After Sunset waiting on the end of that. I'd like to start the Dark Tower series sometime in the near future, but ever since I've stumbled upon this site, my list of "to-read" books keeps growing!

I know how you feel about the TBR list; mine has grown tremendously. I thought that I would only put about 10 on there, but I kept seeing books being listed that looked so interesting... I am almost at 200!! For shame... *shakes head* :O

Then I started reading The Strain. It has really grabbed my attention right from the beginning.

I've also been reading My Sister's Keeper, by Jodi Picoult.
