Dance Dance Dance is by the author of 1Q84, Haruki Murakami. He is one of my new favorite authors of all times. I have read some of his other books. I can describe about his books are the main character, usually male going on a magical journey of self discovery.

I am legend was excellent, i read at the beginning of the month, I enjoyed the short stories as well. I will need to pick up some more Matheson, I hear Hell House is quite good as well.

message 1859: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 701 comments Hell House is quite good, and very odd.

message 1860: by William (new)

William Malmborg (williammalmborg) | 9 comments I need to read Hell House again. Been so long I can't remember what happened in it. I just read I am Legend again after several years and loved it the second time around.

As for my current read I'm getting ready to start Seed of Evil. A nice old horror paperback from the 80s that I just got in the mail.

Denis Pedersen | 44 comments I'm reading Dan Simmons - FLashback at the moment...
I must say that I find it ---- boring? Is that the right word? Anyway, I'm not hooked, and only about halfway... this one has taken me some time to read... oh well ;)

Mummi, I read Flashback..I thought it was just ok. I gave it three stars, but I was disappointed. I was hoping that I would like it more, being a huge fan of Simmons' work.

So far I'm disappointed, but hopefully the ending will save some of the book for me ;)

Actually I would recommend you check our some of his other books first, especially the prequel, A Wild Sheep Chase, since Dance Dance Dance is the sequel, having the same location.

I liked Flashback a lot, although it is not the usual Simmons book. It picks up in the second half and ends well, IMO.

As a big fan of the series, I would recommend you read Ender's Shadow instead if you don't like all the deep thinking because the sequels does not have all the fast pace that Ender's Game had. On the other hand, Ender's Shadow is the exact same story as Ender's Game, but from the viewpoint of Bean, seeing how everything in the background happens. The three sequels to Ender's Shadow are more political based.

message 1880: by Denis (new)

Denis Pedersen | 44 comments I finished Flashback by Dan Simmons a couple of days ago...
I must agree with those of you who said that it would pick up in the second half...
It's still far from my favourite Dan Simmons book, but I actually liked the crime-story a lot... The sci-fi setting was a bit so-so in my opinion... still a fine read overall ;-)

message 1881: by Denis (new)

Denis Pedersen | 44 comments Oh... and I just started Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry - It's an anti-zombie-special-squad thingie... Kinda like Tom Clancy meets 28 days Later.

So far I'm enjoying it (about 200 pages in), it's like reading an action/horror movie script, but what the heck, I've never been to proud or too snobbish to read this kind of books, and it's a damn fine little light holiday read ;)

message 1882: by Char (new)

Char I love Jonathan Maberry. I was turned on to him earlier this year and I started with the Pine Deep trilogy which starts with Ghost Road Blues (Pine Deep, #1) by Jonathan Maberry . I quickly read through the second and third novels and I LOVED them all.
I am looking forward to Patient Zero and also the YA series that includes Rot & Ruin and Dust & Decay.
It is great to discover a new author and then to find out he has a bunch of books available.

Yes, I know since I loved Endymion so much, even though I did not care for Hyperion or The Fall of Hyperion.

message 1889: by Denis (new)

Denis Pedersen | 44 comments @ CHarlene: If Patient Zero is anything like his other novels, then it's definitely not the last novel by Maberry I'm gonna read ;) Really enjoying it so far :)

@ Kevin: I wish I could go back and read Hyperion/Endymion for the first time again... Absolutely love that series :D
