Carol Keogh (Goodfellow) (carolgoodfellowkeogh) I have just finished reading Dead Ringerby Lisa Scottoline. Really liked this book, her characters are witty, feisty females. The dialogue is sharp and funny. I recommend this heartily

Diane S ☔ | 438 comments Reading Damage Control by Denise Hamilton. Her main character is a PR specialist that works with very prestigious clients. This case goes back to a tragically ending childhood friendship and the death of a senators aide. Different but very well written.

Laura DiSilverio | 9 comments Hi Donna--Thanks for letting me know. Ewan was very entertaining on the Bouchercon panels and in conversation, so I have high hopes for the books.

I love Cleverly's 1920s Scotland Yard books--so evocative of the period. I especially enjoy the three or so set in India. If you like these, you might also like Charles Todd's Ian Rutledge series.

Hi Georgia--I was actually disappointed in the latest Eisler book. It read more like an anti-torture tract, especially toward the end, than a novel. The first half of the book was great, fast-paced, etc., but it bogged down and read like an essay toward the end (and I say this even agreeing with his anti-torture bias).

Britney (tarheels) | 125 comments I just got done reading Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie. I decided to try one of her books since everyone seems fond of her, well I have to say I wasn't that impressed. I don't know if it was the book I picked or maybe it was just the writing. I am going to give her a try one more time to see if I just picked a bad book.

I've read a couple of her books as well and also found them interesting reads.

I think the book you read is a Miss Marple mystery. I'd suggest trying a book in which Hercule Poirot is the sleuth. You might like The Murder of Roger Ackroyd or Murder on the Orient Express.

message 3909: by Genine (new)

Genine Franklin-Clark (suz83yq) I'm about 42 pages in to my first NOOK book - Miracle Cure by Harlan Coben. As he notes, it was written 20 years ago, and is not one of his best. Still worth the time to read it, I think.

"Woman in White" is amazing, isn't it? My wife just finished teaching it on her podcast, CraftLit, and I was surprised by how modern and intresting the storytelling was.

Steffi (steffi_the_bookworm) reading Seizure by robin cook, finding it very dragging

message 3912: by Pete (new)

Pete Morin | 61 comments I just finished VIRTUAL STRANGERS by Ola Saltin and Susanne O'Leary.

A very entertaining murder mystery spoof centered around a group of desperate-to-be-published members of the fictional writers community website, "Authorspot," a product of the Big Six publishing company, Carper & Fluster.

If you ever spent any time on Authonomy, you might recognize some of them.

☕️Kimberly (Caffeinated Reviewer) (kimbacaffeinate) I recently finished Unfinished Business and recommend this investigative mystery.

Love the name Carper & Fluster for a publishing company. That alone is enough to make me want to read the book!

D.T. | 1 comments I'm reading The Nearest Exit by Steinhauer and it is just as good as The Tourist. Very hard to put down. Just finished The Lincoln Lawyer Novels: The Lincoln Lawyer, The Brass Verdict, The Reversal, the first Michael Connelly books I've read and they were great too.

They kind of remind me of a cross between the writing of the late Robert B. Parker, noirish a bit like Chandler, and the lawyer Lassiter like David Rosenfeldt.

two different book clubs that I belong to. Soooooo
it might take me awhile until I can get to it.

Robin Cook ruined my night last night - I was really gripped towards the ending of Crisis and had to finish it, only to find out the ending made no sense with the rest of the book - so frustrating I couldn't sleep!

message 3929: by James (new)

James Thane (jameslthane) | 123 comments I hate it when that happens. You get really invested in a book and then the author lets you down at the end and you feel cheated out of the time you spent reading it. (Not to mention the not being able to sleep part!)

Cathy | 16 comments Ridiculous - couldn't believe how cross I was!!! I guess because I had actually been enjoying it and wanted an explanation.

Elli | 228 comments I had stared Keeper of Just Causes, then noticed that Betrayal of Trust was a 7 day book, unrenewable so I quickly dived into it.... Seems pretty good, I like J.P. Beaumont OK, but it's not a series that I would want to read just one after another. Need time in between. But I shall finish it rather quickly. How nice for the excuse....

message 3932: by Jason (new)

Jason Tan Just finished The Gunslinger. Starting Only Time Will Tell :D

message 3933: by Bill (new)

Bill Just finished The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Other Tales of Terror and I'm glad I finally read it, great story. I'm half way through The Glimpses of the Moon and enjoying as well. I'm not sure what I'll start as my second book, possibly, possibly Wicked Uncle by Patricia Wentworth by Patricia Wentworth, or maybe another horror, since it is Hallowe'en month...

Ramona (rlward) Just finished http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/44...
I really enjoyed it but not as much as Last Child.

Also reading http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11... by Mark Billingham, one of my favorite authors. Not all of the series (I think) is available in the U.S. but I'm lucky enough to pick them up while travelling.

Sorry! This is my first post - don't know how to post links appropriately - feel free to message me.

Jannene | 775 comments Silent Thunder by Iris Johansen by Iris Johansen and her son Roy Johansen. This was an absolutely wonderful read. It was fast paced, had good action, a little romantic tension, and a very good story line. I loved it. They have a sequel to this book that I can't wait to get my hands on. I'm very glad my in-laws gave me this book to read.

Hi Ramona. Welome to the wonderful world of Goodreads posting! The easy way to link to a book or an author is by following the link at the top of the comments box. As you type your comment, you'll see a link which says "add book/author" on top and to the right of the box. Click on that and you'll be able to search for the book / author you're looking for and add the link to your comment. Next to the "add book/author link", there's the "(some html is ok)" link, gives instructions allowing you to format your comments, add other hypertext links, hide spoilers and so on.

Have fun posting!
