I always feel odd about welcoming people since I still feel relatively new to it myself, but it's great to see a few more members, so welcome all!
I'm Haley, and I've been obsessed with Jane Austen for a few months now. I got a kindle for Christmas and downloaded Pride and Prejudice. I was hooked and am now slowly but surely reading all of her novels. I'm fifteen and am so excited to have been introduced to the world of classic literature via the amazing author that is Jane.
I discovered the world of Jane Austen when I was 15 and I am now 17 and I am so glad I did! I haven't looked back!
Hi Haley - thanks for joining the group! Glad you have discovered Austen and enjoying her work. Hope you join the discussions!
Haley wrote: "I'm Haley, and I've been obsessed with Jane Austen for a few months now. I got a kindle for Christmas..."Hi Haley. The great thing about Jane is you can reread her books every few years band you will always find something new. There is a society you can join, the Jane Austen Society of North America, and wonderful commentary like A Jane Austen Education (A Jane Austen Education: How Six Novels Taught Me About Love, Friendship, and the Things That Really Matter).
WELCOME, Haley!
I'm glad this group will be a part of your new Austen obsession. We all suffer the same affliction. :)
Happy to have you with us!

Hello friends!I am Suchi from New Delhi, and am an engineer..
I just love Jane Austen,
to the extent that I keep reading her books again and again..
and watch every movie version of the books possible..
I suppose this is some sort of an addiction..
Any addiction without friends is boring,
so I hope,
here,amongst all the Austenites,
my addiction gets a direction! ;)
Hi Suchi! Glad you found us! We all love Jane's books!
Hi!I'm also a huge Austen fan so I'm glad there are so many people who share my love for her great books.I love Emma ,P&P,Northanger Abbey and Sense and Sensibility.I adore the P&P film version with Keira Knightley and also the Sense and Sensibility film version with Emma Thompson,Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman.
Hello everyone, My name is Shelby and I am 19 years old. My grandmother read me Jane Austen novels when I was a child and I have clung to them ever since. Jane Austen provides solace in her pages, wouldn't you agree? :) I am very excited to be apart of this group! I look forward to further discussing her literary masterpieces with you all!
Welcome Shelby! You were a lucky kid - great grandmother! We're happy you've joined. There are great people here with lots of knowledge and opinions! Enjoy!
What a great grandmother! They definitely provide me solace when I read them! I read her novels as an escape!
Hi, my name is Eydís and I have been an Austen fan ever since I stumbled upon the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice some years back :)
Hi Eydis! Welcome to the group. We have lots of great people and good chat going on. Hope to see you around!
Hi all! I'm Elise from the Chicago area. I've been reading Austen since I discovered her when I was 15. I recently completed my undergraduate senior thesis on Pride and Prejudice! It was such a great experience. I'm happy to have found this group and join in the discussions :)
WELCOME, Elise!
P & P is my favorite, so I would love to read that thesis!
Glad to have you here!

What a great thesis topic! Congrats on finishing it! Having written one long ago, I know how much time you spent on it! Welcome to this group!
Hello everyone! I am fairly new to Goodreads (which I already love!) and am a huge fan of Jane Austen. P&P and Persuasion often vie for my favourite depending what mood I am in.
I love reading the many Austen inspired stories that are now available, many of which are excellent. I am also a newbie author having just published my own P&P inspired story.
Looking forward to getting to know fellow lovers of Jane Austen!
Cassie
Hi Cassandra! Welcome to the group. How exciting - a real live published author!! Thanks for joining us and letting us know about your work!Hope to see you commenting often.
Hello everyone! my name is Arum from Indonesia and I'm 17 years old. English isn't my first language, so please pardon me if I do any grammatical error.I fell in love with Jane Austen novels since I read Pride and Prejudice two years ago.It has became one of my favorite novels of all time and ever since then, Mr. Darcy has became my #1 literature crush :D
I haven't read Jane Austen other novels though, I only have watched the tv/movie adaptations. And I really adore the BBC Miniseries adaptations of Emma (2009) and Sense and Sensibility (2008). As for P&P, I love the BBC Miniseries with Colin Firth as Darcy and the 2005 movie. I'm so glad that I found this group, and can't wait to participate in the discussions :)
Welcome! Your english is brilliant! I share your literary crush! And I love those three miniseries as well - they are all so great! :D
Hello Arum!!Welcome to a group that loves Jane's novels and all the films made from them - and who love to talk about all that A LOT! Tell us what you think!
WELCOME, Cassandra and Arum!
Nice to have two new members who are clearly the same level of Austen-obsessed as the rest of us here!

Hi. I am Yukti and I am 17. I first read Jane Austen in Grade 8 starting with Pride and Prejudice. I immediately fell in love with the book and read it thrice again. Then, I began the other Austen novels and I can now say that I admire her work. I don't have many friends and those who do talk me don't understand my love for the classics like the Bronte sisters or Thomas Hardy. I hope to talk to people as I am very shy when spoken to face to face and don't converse much. Thank you everybody.Yukti
Welcome Yukti! We are so happy you've joined us. Lots of us view the characters in Austen's novels as dear acquaintances and we understand the love of great literature. So glad to have you join in the conversation!
Hello Yukti. I love the Brontes as well. Have you ever read any Elizabeth Gaskell? I highly recommend Wives & Daughters and of course North & South. Both have been very well adapted to the screen as well. Cranford is also wonderful.
Thank you, Cassandra. I haven't read Elizabeth Gaskell. I will read it. I hope we can form a friendship.
WELCOME, Yukti!
I have the same sense of shyness, so I understand the hope of connecting to people through the love of Austen we all share. Thankfully, it is easier online than in person I think. Please chime in--we would all love to talk to you!

Thank you all for being so welcoming. It is exhilirating for me to talk to everyone. Please do explain to me how to talk on this forum as I am new to the website.
Yukti - just click on our group name and check out the list of discussions and see what interests you. Post a comment in any of the discussions and it will pop up as new to the members. And that's how we chat!
