Hi, I'm Reina, a little late introducing myself. I first read Jane Austen in high school. I hope to reread all her books in 2012, as it's been several years since I did. I also love period dramas and, when I get a chance, making fanvids on YouTube. :) Looking forward to talking Austen.

Jane Austen is by far my favorite author ever. I'm looking forward to discussing my favorite books and maybe finding some new Austen-related books to enjoy! My first Austen was Sense and Sensibility in high school.

Hi! My name is Rachel and I live near Atlanta,Georgia. Jane Austen is my favorite author EVER! I have read all of her books and am working on viewing all the movies! I'm a few days late introducing, sorry! Can't wait to get involved!
Hi Rachel!! Welcome aboard! Looking forward to your comments!
Lexi, you are in for a ride! I find there is something wrong with a female that doesn't fall in love with Jane Austen's writing and her characters. Maybe that's just me.
Hello!I'm Sandi, a middle-aged high school English teacher in New Jersey (No, I'm nothing like the morons on Jersey Shore; you should be ashamed of yourself for watching such drivel!). I'v been a Janeite since reading Pride and Prejudice for my 11th grade English term paper. I'm glad I found the time to peruse this site; it's nice to see so many Janeites around!
Hello Veronica, Lexi and Sandy! Welcome to the group!
WELCOME fellow Rachel, Veronica, Lexi, and Sandy!
So many new, global members to welcome! You're in store for a lot, Lexi, reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time!
Glad to have you all here!

Hello, I'm a 19 year old college student and music teacher in Michigan, United States. I absolutely love to read whenever I can work it in around studying and teaching. I love reading Austen and the Bronte sisters. I'm excited to be a part of this group and looking forward to many literary discussions to come!

I teach Wuthering Heights and I have to say it's a lot more entertaining to me than Jane Eyre; I'm a sucker for any book that comes full circle. Did Anne Bronte write anything interesting?
WELCOME Rebekah!
I hope you have joined or get a chance to join the Victorians group here on GoodReads, for the Bronte discussions. Glad to have you here!

Thanks for pointing out the Victorians group; I will have to visit them. (I'm a newbie to this site, so I guess I'll make the occasional faux pas now and then.)

Wuthering Heights is definitely a very close second, it is riveting and fascinating!
Do you teach at a college (if you wish to share that information)? I haven't read anything by Anne yet, but I am eager to read her Agnes Grey.
Rachel wrote: "WELCOME Rebekah!I hope you have joined or get a chance to join the Victorians group here on GoodReads, for the Bronte discussions. Glad to have you here!"
Thank you! Victorians discussion group? I will certainly join! I have also joined a group titled the Bronte Family.
Rebekah,Glad to hear positive things about Jane Eyre; it took a long while for it to grow on me (the most recent movie really made me want to give it another chance).
I look forward to rereading Agnes Grey one of these days, too; it didn't make much of an impression on me the first time.
To answer your question: Nope, I don't teach college, just high school!
Hi, I'm Karen. I am a 24 year old substitute teacher working on going back to school for my master's in Museum Education. Embarrassingly, I first fell in love with Jane after the most recent movie rendition of Pride & Prejudice. Bought the book, loved it, bought most of the others. I was 20. My two favorites are P&P and Persuasion.
Hello Karen! Thanks for finding the group. There are lots of really smart and interesting people here. Look around and please comment!
Hello, I'm a 26 year old Human Resource consultant. I'm actually planning on getting an MFA on English Literature next year. :) I read Sense and Sensibility back in High School and have been hooked on classics ever since. S&S remains one of my favorite classics alongside Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Madame Bovary. Glad I found this group. :)
WELCOME, Kristel!
I like Thomas Hardy too, but I wish he had a happy ending in his repertoire. Glad to have you in this group!

Hey Kristel! Nice to have you here!
Hello! I'm Sophie and I am 16. I was first introduced to Austen recently when I had a to read Pride and Prejudice as I was studying it. I absolutely loved it and since I have read Sense and Sensibility and Emma and am now debating which next, out of the remaining 3. Any opinions? I have always loved the P and P films which I watched before I began reading them. Now I am totally hooked and am quickly becoming a true Janeite!!!
I am pleased to have found this website and group as there is no one among my acquaintance who is nearly as passionate as I am about Austen I am pleased to have found somewhere to talk about it freely :)
Hope I'm a contributing and insightful member even though I may be only 16 :) xx
And my favourite, so far, is pride and prejudice and I believe it will take a lot from the remaining three I have to read to replace it :) I mean, who doesn't want to find their Mr Darcy!!! ;)
Welcome Soph! You will find lots of people here who love to read and talk about Austen's work! Jump in and let us hear your thoughts!
Thanks Megan :) that's great to hear! First question, which do your recommend I read next? Near rowed it down to Northanger Abbey and Persuasion :) thanks. Really can't decide!!! Xx
WELCOME, Soph!
Glad to see such joy for Austen so early in your life--it will only grow! As for your next Austen to read, I recommend Persuasion. (Though I love Northanger too.)
GLAD to have you here!

Thanks Rachel! :) feel truly welcomed!!It's nice to have somewhere to talk about Jane Austen. All my friends think I'm crazy and given that we studied it, saw my great love and passion for Pride and Prejudice and have consequently began calling me Mrs. Darcy or Lizzy!! Which I suppose I don't really mind!! And have written all over my school books - which I mind a bit ;)
And thanks for your opinion I think I might well chose that one. I have loved , as you may have guessed, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility and Emma, once I got into it, I couldn't put down! So I am in no doubt of liking the remains three. So persuasion it is :) xx
Hey everyone!I'm Sarah, a 24-year-old from Kansas. My mild obsession with Jane Austen came after I forced myself to read Pride and Prejudice in high school and ended up loving it, and P&P will always have a special place in my heart because of that. My absolute favorite, though, is definitely Persuasion. =D
Hello Sarah!! That sounds similar to my story! P and P will always be special to me :) as persuasion is your favourite, do you recommend I read that one next? Xx :)
Definitely! I could base my recommendation based on it being one of her "more mature works" (I read that somewhere) or something like that, but really, I just sympathize with Anne, and I have a huge crush on Captain Wentworth, haha! Let me know what you think of it!
Haha thanks. I will! I bet I'll be able to add Wentworth to my list of heart throbs, on which all Austen men appear!!! ;)Which adaptation do you prefer of persuasion? :) xx
Hello Sarah! Glad you have joined us!
I've only seen the Amanda Root/Ciaran Hinds version and the most recent BBC version, and between the two (while I can appreciate the BBC version), I definitely love the AR/CH version. Both a great productions, I just prefer that one in particular--I feel it's more accurate, for one thing. =D
Thanks :) I've seen the 2007 one and liked that and I think I will watch the BBC with AR and CH :) thank you :D and I'll let you know my opinion about the book. I'm starting it tonight :)
WELCOME, Sarah!
Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion seem to be the top two Austen favorites for people. Glad to have you here!

My name is Leonora, and I am a HUGE Austen fan. I recently wrote a big paper on her novels for school, so now I'm even nerdier about Austen and her books than I was before! I'm so happy to have found a group with other Austen nerds :)
WELCOME Leonora!
Yep, this group is Austen nerd heaven. I had an elective English course about Austen in college, so I had lots of papers to write about her work and enjoyed every bit of it! Glad to have you with us!
