Welcome Anna! Persuasion is my absolute favorite also although Pride & Prejudice is a close second! Thanks for joining us - let us know what you think!
Hello everyone! My name is Maria and I am Italian. I love anything Austen and I think I am going to adore this group! My favourite novel is "Pride & Prejudice" and of course Darcy is my hero, but Captain Wentworth has a special place in my heart because it is impossible not to love him!
Hello! My name is Ana and I am a portuguese philosophy teacher. I have all the books. My favorites are: Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility. I like Lizzy and Ellinor, but also Marianne, Ellinor sisters.I am glad to be in this group!
Ana
Hello Ana! Welcome to the group!
Hi Im Lisa from Cape Town South Africa. My first introduction was 17 years ago when I was 16. It was around valentines day and the theme was romance. As a class we read Mr Collins's proposal to Elizabeth Bennett. I was struck by Austen's sharp wit and social commentary. I have been a big fan ever since. Although I love P&P, I've enjoyed them all. I found Persuasion softer that the others and so beautiful. Austen's character descriptions in Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey were so sharp and funny. I love her descriptions of Catherine Morland and Fanny Price's histrionic aunt. But it's impossible to pick a favorite heroine!
Welcome Lisa! Persuasion is my favorite followed closely by Pride and Prejudice. Glad you are!
Hey! My name is Michele, and I'm a writer. I love Pride & Prejudice ever since I discovered it in middle school. Hope y'all have a great day :)
Hi Michele! What kind of writing do you like best? Welcome to the group!
Welcome both of you! Lisa, you read Mr Collin's proposal!? That's not romantic :P (Also, I stayed in Cape Town a few years ago for three weeks (I live in England) and it is a lovely place!)
Soph, I think the idea was to demonstrate how unimportant love and romance was in relationships in Austen's time.I'm glad you've seen Cape Town, it is beautiful. Did you see anymore of the country?
Oh right I see!!We stayed mainly in Cape Town but went on some of the garden route which was beautiful! It was a while ago and I was quite young and so don't remember it as much as I would like! We hope to return soon!!
Hi all, I'm Pooh and I've been a devoted Janeite for over 15 years now. My favorite novel is Persuasion. It's so beautiful and somehow I just FEEL the characters more deeply than in the other novels. My favorite movie adaptation is P&P 1995 and Lost in Austen made me laugh like I've never laughed before. I'm a special collections librarian (in need of a job) and an historian. I love reading about the Regency era, especially Georgette Heyer's novels. I'll be attending some of the Jane Austen festival in Bath in September as a graduation/birthday present.
WELCOME, Pooh!
Fun name! :) It sounds like you'll fit right in here! Enjoy and participate as much as you want!

Hello everyone! My name is Apollonia. My favorite author is of course, the lovely Jane Austen. Her novels mean everything to me! Very happy to have joined this group and can't wait to have book discussions with all of you!
I'm very friendly and open, so if you'd like to start a conversation, feel free to do so :) especially if it concerns Jane Austen!
Hello Apollonia! Welcome to the group. Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

How sweet of you, thank you! I'm glad to be here! Lovely group you have set up :)
Hello, I'm Julie. I live in Wyoming. I work at a middle school during the day and at night on the children's floor of our local library.I'm new to Austen though I've wanted to read her for sometime. Everytime I've tried to read her I've gotten caught up in the words. Its no fun trying to read a book when you're running for the dictionary every other sentence. :)
Anyways, I watched some of the movies based off the books last night (after watching The Jane Austen Book movie the night before) and thought that that might help a little. I get lost here and there but I think I'm understanding the basics of the story (Sense and Sensibility).
I figured if I joined the club I could ask all the questions I wanted. So I'm excited to be here. Thanks.

Welcome Julie :) great to have you here!
Don't worry, ask away! :)
Hey Julie! Welcome to the group - very happy you are here. Ask any questions you like! Dig around in the older topics and posts - lots of good stuff by all the great people here.
Hello everyone, I'm Annie. I am a stay at home mom and Jane Austen obsessed! Last year one of my goals was to finally read all of Austen's books. I have read P & P, S &S, and Emma a number of times, but the other three I could never seem to get into. I have finally finished all six and have started reading them all again. Finished P & P (my favourite! Probably because I still picture Colin Firth every time I read it) and am now rereading Emma. I have lately also gotten into a lot of the Austen inspired literature and films, my fav being the Jane Austen Book Club. Looking forward to great insight from everyone.
Welcome Anne! Thanks for joining us!
WELCOME, Julie, Anne and Maria!
Such varying experience with Austen will be a great addition to our group. We hope you like it here! (Sorry for the slow reply--I've been sick.)

Hello All -- I'm Patty from Petaluma,CA (about 35 miles north of SF). Have been a Jane Austen Fan since 1995, when I happened upon the BBC showing of P&P; what a 'fortuitous' event! P&P and Persuasion are my favorites. Although I'm not new to this site, I haven't had much time to spend on it. I'm happy to "meet" others from all over and share our passion. Thank you.
Welcome Patty and thanks for joining us. The 1995 P&P is a very happy thing!
Hello! I am Rhonda. I'm 37 and sadly, am relatively new to Jane. I had always meant to read her books but never had a chance to until a few years ago while I was off work for surgery. I bought her complete works from the Kindle store at Amazon. I had time and blazed through Pride and Prejudice (my favorite). I had seen the movie (2004/Knightly) and heard references to it in various places but before 2010 I hadn't read it. I just fell in love with how it was written and the characters depth. I started the other books and went on a movie watching tear. That is really what got me to starting a long (and still in progress) fine literature/classic book marathon. Most people read the books in high school but I didn't take the advanced English classes so I had no reason to read them. Besides Jane Austen I love scrapbooking, photography, baseball, my dog and I love to travel.
Hi Rhonda! Welcome to the group. So happy you've discovered Austen (although surgery isn't fun) and have joined us!
