Aurelian hesitated, glancing around before following Estella."Oh, I didn't realize your class had disbanded. I had to courier, well, Asparus had to post-haste." Her fingers trembled slightly."I suspect two of the Slytherin first-years broke curfew to check out the Dark Forest. One of them was targeted, a muggleborn. Her cat was killed with Avada Kedavra. I wanted you to know that they were in a very unstable condition, I will take responsibility for their attendance and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Things have begun again faster than we thought possible. The Headmaster assured me that the Aurors and the Ministry have been alerted. Quidditch may even be called off this year, due to the dire circumstances, students aren't even allowed to attend Hogsmeade."A slight, sad shake of her head."Our students may be in danger."

Estella froze. Her thoughts raced, piecing togeter everything. "Well," she said in a calm voice. "This changes things." She flicked her wand, drawing the curtains shut just in case their voices carried down. "It seems that we were wrong about things having died down. It was completely unprecedented today, the thing with the Dark Mark. I take it those Slytherins were witnesses to that, and the ones involved? Have they been questioned yet?" By now, she was nearly thinking out loud. "The students are scared," she murmured. "They don't know what is going on. We'll have to tread carefully."

Aurelian's eyes became cloudy and unfocused as she began to ponder the situation. Finally, she shook her head."I do not believe the children had anything more to do with the situation than simply being at the wrong place at the worst possible moment. The Aurors have known about the possible uprising for a few years and have silenced some of the instigators, but the Ministry would not offer help. They simply believed that cleaning up the messes they left behind would suffice." She paused, standing and heading toward the window, gripping the sill."I am a Gryffindor, but I have never had much trouble with Slytherins. Why is it that when problems arise, we are so quick to heap the burdens and accusations upon them? I understand that Voldemort was a graduate of the Slytherin House but we must also remeber that witches and wizards from every House, from every school were a part of the Death Eaters. Sl;ytherins are no more dangerous that Gryffindors, Ravenclaws or Hufflepuffs. I will question the first-years later but most of them don't even know what the clouds meant. The Headmaster wishes for us to keep it that way."

Estella nodded, understanding. "The only interest I had in those students being Slyhterins is that they were absent from my class. Those first-years will be traumatized enough without others, probably older students, laying blame on them." Her eyes swept out the window to linger on the forest. "What worries me is that those first-years were able to go so far into the Forbidden Forest so easily," she murmured. "And worse, that a Death Eater could somehow manage to get in there. That Forest has always been dangerous. We need to secure both sides."

"Securing things at this point is futile. They've already breached our charms and defensive spells, they can do it again almost as easily as before. They aren't stupid, but I think we should be suspicious of our fellow teachers, they know the counter casts and at least one of them must be in league with our culprit."

Estella glanced up sharply. "Surely no staff member would betray Hogwarts to the Death Eaters..." she trailed off. She knew it could happen. She never understood evil people and how they could want to target children. "The Headmaster has not yet told me those details," she admitted. "But if we can't stop them from gaining access, at least we can still try to slow them down."
