Avery narrowed his eyes. "I didn't pretend to be anyone, and I didn't know you were Caleb's supposed 'friend'." Some of what she'd said sunk in and he tried to contain his surprise. She's one to tell me I'm a 'jerk'. She's the Slytherin, not me. But at the moment he sort of felt like a scumbag. He knew his mother wouldn't have wanted him to be this way towards anyone, even Slytherins. She was always kind to everyone. Looking away slightly, his green eyes turning hard, he said, "Look, I'm sorry, okay?" He walked down the hall before he lost control. What've I become, if a Slytherin girl is nicer than me? "Mind you own business in the future!" He called over his shoulder angrily.

Avery entered the library and went into the most deserted history of magic row of books he could find, sinking to the ground and clenching his fist in anger, trying to control his breathing.

Caleb yawned as he stood up from finishing another chapter in a muggle novel. Think I want something else for a while. He stood up and went to find a new book.

Medea glanced behind her as she left the Ravenclaw common room. She stuck her book in her bag and swung it over her shoulder. I hope I can find the library without Avery.

Akrisios trotted down the hall, he wasn't running. The last thing he needed at the moment was another detention, but he wasn't quite walking either. He paused, slowing when he spotted Lyra. Great, more questions, time to skirt. He twisted, looking over his shoulder and down another corridor. "I'm late, I'm late..."His eyes lit up and he chuckled."For a very important date?"He shook his head."Yeah, if you don't mind pain and suffering at the expense of your life."

Medea hummed to herself quietly as she walked through the castle. Her footsteps echoed in the huge empty space. She thought she was going the right way, but when she rounded the corner, she was facing a window several stories high with no other hallways. "Crap. Where am I?" she said aloud. Medea turned around to head back around the corner, but nearly ran into another girl. Slytherin? She looked familiar.

Medea stepped back from the girl, raising her eyebrows. "It's ok. Sorry, I wasn't looking either." She looked at Lyra again. "So who are you? Sorry, I don't think we've met."

"I'm Medea Lillis. Nice to meet you, Lyra. And yes, I am a Ravenclaw," she said drily. "And you're a Slytherin? I have nothing against Slytherins." She smiled. "Well, except for Caleb," she said offhandedly.

Medea narrowed her eyes. "Excuse me, but you obviously don't know Avery that well. He's not the one pushing his twin brother away." She twisted the strap of her bag in irritation.

Medea's friendliness evaporated on the spot. "And you think Avery doesn't care? You think he's not hurting over this?" she snapped. "Maybe you don't know Caleb as well as you say, if you haven't even bothered to find out why they're mad at each other," she suggested.

Medea rolled her eyes. "It's Caleb's fault," she said, exasperated. "And what with their family's problem, I think it's safe to say that Avery is hurting more. That's why he's angry, you know," she said, keeping her voice light. She refused to let any more emotion show.

Medea started as Akrisios appeared, but she stiffened and looked at him dismissively. "And who are you, Slytherin?"

Medea looked at Lyra quizzically. "Uh, I'm sorry if I offended you," she muttered, confused. "Why don't you belong in your House? The Hat put you there."

Medea tilted her head in confusion. "Excuse me? I know that detail and clarity has never been a Slytherin's strong point, but you wouldn't want people to misunderstand."

She pressed her lips together, trying not to scream in exasperation. This is NOT how I wanted to spend my day.

Medea stared after her. "Whoops." She hated watching people cry. She turned and glared at Akrisios. "Maybe she's right. Real friends don't upset each other. Jerk," she muttered. Who died?

Akrisios watched her take her leave."Thank you for that, surely. Ms. Lillis, I believe our meeting was less than wonderful. I'll speak to my father about who is allowed in this school. It's simply ridiculous."
