So I just wanted to say that I wrote a fun, adventure-filled MG/'Tween fantasy book for all you magic lovers out there.

It's called "Chase Tinker and the House of Magic."

Here’s a synopsis:

In Chase Tinker's world, magic, lies and secrets can be a lethal combination...

Thirteen-year-old Chase Tinker can't understand why he has the power to move things with his mind. Besides that, his dad has been missing for over a year, causing his mom to be too upset to pay much attention to her sons, so now he's been busted for shoplifting. As if this isn't enough to worry about, his younger brother Andy suddenly has a weird magical ability too. Can things get any crazier? Chase thinks.

Then, a grandfather they thought to be long dead arrives at their door. He wants Chase and Andy to come visit him so they can learn about their supernatural heritage and why they have magical powers in the first place.

The boys soon find out that Grandfather, along with their cousin Janie, lives on a remote island in the middle of Puget Sound in an out-of-this-world house where fantastic magic can be found in practically every room, stairway and corridor. Chase can't believe their dad has been keeping so much from them.

It's an even bigger shock when Chase learns that all their magic is controlled by a powerful and mysterious Relic in the attic, and if anything happens to this relic, every bit of Tinker magic will be lost forever. He's even more disturbed when he learns his family has a dark and powerful enemy that is determined to steal all their magic, their house and their relic.

I happen to be a Benedictine monk in the Episcopal Church & I have written on Benedictine spirituality, but fantasy literature is a lifelong interest of mine & I have published three collections of fantasy short stories aimed at young readers as well as older ones.

The first is a collection of Christmas stories called "Born in the Darkest Time of Year." A choirboy, in two different stories, has to save Christmas twice. A boy desperately wants a unicorn for Christmas, and so it goes.

Then I published "Creatures We Dream of Knowing" where, in each story, a young protagonist encounters one or more allegedly legendary creatures. In each story, personal issues are entwined with the enchantment of these creatures.

Most recently, I published "From Beyond to Here: Merendael's Gift and Other Stories." "Merendael's Gift" is close to novella length, a story that begins when a boy suddenly encounters an incredibly strange creature on the way to school, a creature who wishes to give a gift. Many of the stories that follow are ghost stories that explore themes of redemption from hurt and trauma.

I published my first novel in September. Mr Charalambus and the One Soul. Without fanfare and even less knowledge about social media and marketing. I have struggled to engage with the process of promotion. It has been my nature to allow my personality to work for me but in this virtual world I struggle to know how best to market that. I am unsure about forums and genre discussions, other people seem so much more assured in this setting and I am never convinced I am in the right place at the right time. Anybody else feel like that? Born on Good Friday, April 5th, 1996 in Silver Spring Maryland, Katherine “Katie” Delia Enos lived her last wonderful days in Westford, Massachusetts. Even though she was only just fourteen, Katie had already chosen that her life profession was to be a writer. She wrote poetry, stories, lyrics and music constantly, with many story ideas plastering her room, on her computer, and stuffed in drawers and containers. Katie died on June 30th, 2010, as a result of a pedestrian accident on one of the many dangerous country roads in her hometown and is missed dearly by her family and by countless friends, teammates, and fellow soccer players.

A few months prior to the accident, Katie had told her parents that she thought it was ridiculous that everyone was not willing to be an organ donor. She said, “What are you going to do with your organs after you’re dead?” So, as she wished, her organs were donated and four people’s lives changed dramatically because of her final gift. So, Katie got to check one more item off her “bucket list” posted on her wall – to save a life. Katie was honored for this act by being selected as a floragraph honoree on the Donate Life float in the Rose Parade in 2012.

Katie left behind many works of music, poetry, shorts stories and novels. Even though she did not finish any of the novels, I have made it my mission to complete them for her and to continue to give the stories she started life. The first book that I published in her name is called The Chronicles of Articia; Children of the Dead.

My goal is pure and simple; to share my daughter’s works with the world and to keep the stories she started alive. I was not born to be a writer like my daughter Katie, but I endeavor to put together works as I believe she would have done. Katie actually wrote this story when she was in sixth grade (12 years old), so I did have to do some work to finish it. I kept to the spirit of who she was and what she would have written based on her life experiences to date. It is meant to be an easy read so that young middle school readers can enjoy it, but it will appeal to more mature readers as well.

I have priced this novel with very little margin so that it is affordable for most readers. Writing is not how I earn a living and not how I intend to pay the bills in the future. But I do have a goal for 2013, and that is to get a least one reader and review from every state in the union.

I am currently working on the sequel “The Chronicles of Articia: The Sea of Sorrows”. So I am hoping to get a lot of new readers before I finish the work. My wife has put one restriction on the novel development, and that is that I break even on the costs of publishing the first one. I wanted to write a fantasy that revisits classic works of the past, by Tolkien and others. It is a high epic tale, detailing the cultures and ventures of Elves, Dwarves, and men.

But the Dark World has its own life as well. Anyone is susceptible to succumb to darkness. Even with their superior integrity, fortitude, and humility, the Elves are never far from the yearning clutch of evil.

War is not only something external; blood does not only bleed on the outside. The true war is within the characters themselves. The Elves, Dwarves, and men are not enemy to ugly orcs or goblins; they fight the Possessors. These Possessors are Elves and Dwarves and men, only they have chosen to abandon their old ways and join a cause that opposes the survival of their former kindred. They are so called because they possess the sign of evil that was branded upon them by their master, the Shadowlord. I write what might be described as near-future gay vampire space opera, crossing genres between soft science fiction, urban fantasy, and non-explicit gay paranormal romance. It sounds like an odd mix, but that's the best way I can describe it.

By profession, I am a hematopathologist, a physician who specializes in using laboratory tests and microscopic evaluation of biopsied tissue to diagnose diseases of blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes, such as leukemia and lymphoma. Yes, I realize the irony that I write about vampires. ;)

The Pact Arcanum saga currently consists of five books: Sunset, Cathedral of the Sky, Sunrise, Moonlight, and Starlight. An alternate version of the same material is the Integrated Serial Edition, in which the text has been redesigned to yield a much more linear timeline, broken into twelve relatively short segments. This alternate edition is recommended for those who like starting at the beginning of the story rather than the middle, and are looking for a quicker and lighter read for each individual segment.
