Patrick Lee (mootfowl2) | 21 comments Dear Diary, A Journal From Hell is a romance.
From the blurb...Terence is sentenced to Hell. He has his very own demon, his very own hovel of a house, but he has no mattress.
One day he ambles outside to search for "intelligent life" and a mattress store. Along the way he meets another newcomer, Teresa. They decide to scrap the search for a mattress, and instead search Lucifer out and demand their release. They set off on a journey to the "center of Hell", but what they find is astonishing.

There is only one way out, and both must decide whether or not to take it.

Iscah Iscah | 9 comments Hi, I'm Iscah author of the novel Seventh Night and the related ebook Before the Fairytale: The Girl With No Name.

This is my Amazon author's page: http://www.amazon.com/Iscah/e/B00DGF2...

You can read the books in either order. Seventh Night is a romantic, comic, action adventure fantasy. The Girl With No Name is set in the same world but with a slightly more folklore/literary bent. They both play off fairytale motifs, but hopefully in a fresh way.

Summary for Seventh Night:
Once, a boy fell in love with a girl not long before a princess married a charming prince, and if the boy had been the prince or the girl had not been the princess, this might have been a simple fairytale romance.

But he wasn't, and she was. So things were complicated. And then there were the bandits and the poison and the kidnapping and the secrets and the betrayal and the monsters and the magic, the journey across the desert and the journey across the sea, and of course that tax issue.

In a land where unicorns are common place, life can start resembling a storybook. Everyone wants a happily ever after, but sometimes true love requires sacrifices...

Sharon Wheater (SharonWheater) | 15 comments Hi my name is Sharon Wheater, I have just published my first novel in my new fantasy series The Art of Magic, the first is Realm of the Castles.
It is different to other novels because what you think is going to happen...most definately does not.
The story begins when a youg girl is snatched from one of the small islands off the coast of Garnatia. She is imprisoned and tortured along side hundreds of other children. Her journey begins at 17 when she has her whole world completely turned upside down and she begins her quest for the truth.
It is full of twists and turns and from the few I let read it they said its gripping, funny, full of action and definately a book that keeps you guessing.

Thanks

R.L. Kiser (rlkiser) | 11 comments Crystal Fire by R.L. Kiser Crystal Fire (Tales of the Crystal)

An epic tale of magic and warriors, of flawed human beings overcoming adversity and personal demons to do what must be done.

What do a beautiful, buxom, veil dancer in the southern desert, a besotted drunk on the docks of the coast, and a tired, bent old woodsman miles from civilization have in common? They are all still smarting from the devastation of the last battle from using the most horrible of weapons, and they must now answer the call of the Crystal.

Reviews:
***** I love these characters! What makes this a fun read is the slightly flawed good guys, the babes with beauty, brains and brawn, and the magical characters Thisrena and Ith, the thnake that thpeaks with a lithp. Recommended reading. ·· J.D. King

**** This is a good story, full of magic and some very surprising characters and twists... Charming and mysterious characters, magical creatures, and not-so-perfect foes make this a fun read. ·· Patricia Hamill on Goodreads

**** I was intrigued with the story from the very beginning… R.L. Kiser has written chapter one so deftly to reel in readers’ curiosity to keep reading. Characterization is superb; both heroes and villains have flaws which also lead to humorous moments… the way the plot is developed is fresh, coupled with unpredictable and interesting twists. Kiser’s flawless writing style helps keep the plot tight throughout the story as well as maintain a good pacing. On the whole, a satisfying read and a great start for a series. ·· Lit Amri for Readers' Favorite

R.L. Kiser (rlkiser) | 11 comments The Last Battle by R.L. Kiser The Last Battle (Tales of the Crystal)

An epic tale of magic and warriors in a desperate race against superior forces to save the center of all civilization.

An ancient stone obelisk is discovered in the deep desert leading young crystal warrior Darian and his desert dwelling companions to the buried temple of the Goddess Narine. Before they can exploit its riches he is urgently recalled home, as are Crystal Warriors throughout the land, and vows to return, as foretold in a prophecy. The Crystal is under peril from evil forces and can only be saved by using a horrible weapon banned years before. The results are devastating to both defender and enemy.

Reviews:
***** Five Stars. This story held my interest. I'd recommend it. ·· Constant @Amazon

***** More of the same characters I loved in the first book and more. I loved the story. I'd recommend it. ·· JD King

***** The power of the Crystal and the power of the crystal warriors makes for a great battle scene. Tarina is one tough and beautiful young lady. ·· W.R. Masters

***** Excellent story. I devoured this book in a day and a half... Overall, I enjoyed the banter between the various characters, the insight into the hierarchy of the Crystal City, and, of course, the intrigue behind the battle between the forces of good and evil. R.L. Kiser (rlkiser) | 11 comments The Twelve Tablets by R.L. Kiser The Twelve Tablets (Tales of the Crystal)

An epic tale of an ancient goddess, magic, and warriors, flawed human beings overcoming their greatest challenge and tremendous odds.

The deep desert is a vast wasteland, thousands of miles of shifting sands and blowing winds. Ancient obelisks are discovered leading to the forgotten temple of the Goddess Narine. The reading of the Twelve Tablets brings forth a mystical being, but also releases a powerful evil. All the people of the eastern and deep desert are in peril. Those possessed by the evil must be stopped before it can be brought back into balance. Can it be done?

Reviews:
***** This is a good read. It takes up where both the first and second books left off - yeah, both of them. I like the time-walking, the mystical shadow warriors, and Lady Mist and sergeants rule the army! There's good comic relief with the comical snake Ith . ·· JD King

***** The changing landscape of the story and of the desert, war, magic, and a touch of sensuality, I was all in. ·· W.R. Masters

***** ...What I most enjoy about this story is the ability of the author to draw one into the minds of his characters, even those who happen to be on the "wrong" side of the battle. Additionally, the banter is natural and entertaining, the characters are complex and dynamic, and the battles are epic and exciting. On that note, few authors are able to narrate a battle with such skill that they can keep me from skimming through them, but R.L. Kiser is one of them. ·· Patricia Hamill on Goodreads

R.L. Kiser (rlkiser) | 11 comments The Prophecy of Tara by R.L. Kiser Warrior woman wields weapons. Hot chick kicks butt!

An ancient Power, corrupted nobles, a vibrant young warrior woman and a monumental task against insurmountable odds.

An ancient power has arisen and seeks to subjugate all the lands. A vibrant young warrior woman must travel across the land to deliver critical information to a western wizard who will use that knowledge to subdue the evil power. She is joined in her perilous journey by a stranded star traveler, a giant from the north, ancient warriors from the time before and others. Together they see her past the many dangerous standing in her way, including an invincible and feared Shadow Dancer.

Reviews:
***** Whoa, slow down there, Turbo! A sexy babe with muscles, training, and ability. A guy with a laser sword, a giant, ancient warriors. This has it all. You did it again, dude. What a great story.  ·· J.D. King

***** Strong start. OMG, love the cover! The description in the book of the girl and her outfit (and why it's so scanty) is believable and impressive. If I hadn't seen the cover pic, I think I would have pictured the same girl. ·· Anymous (Goodreads)

***** ...Overall, I really liked this book, though I can only make it through one or two battle scenes in a single sitting (probably why it took me a while to read the story). The characters are charismatic and their banter is humorous. I enjoyed the magical elements and the hints at a greater history. ·· Patricia Hamill on Goodreads

R.L. Kiser (rlkiser) | 11 comments Exile-A SciFi Adventure by R.L. Kiser
A star traveler in 1600s feudal Japan. Imagine the possiblities!

A 6'5" starship captain flees a lost war and lands on Earth in 1600s feudal Japan. Imagine being light years from home and landing on a large island populated by war-like people almost half your size. Will they look upon him as a god from the heavens or a demon from the skies? His survival skills will be put to the test.

Reviews:
***** Great fun! This book is just a lot of fun! With flavors of Samurai and Steam-punk adding spice, it rocks along from delight to surprise, and all along it is highly satisfying. Oh, on first reading, towards the end I thought maybe it bogged down. But it is the sort of book you want to re-read as soon as you finish it, because it was just so much fun. And I found out I was wrong: the story continues apace, right to the last page. And the ending is a pure delight. Don't peek, you won't get it. But I can assure you: it will give you huge satisfaction, and you will be glad you chose to read this book. ·· William Fletcher

**** ...Overall, this is an entertaining book on many levels. Those who enjoy reading about real-life and science fiction technology will enjoy the technical parts. Those who like laser fights and battles between uneven forces where the underdog must overcome long odds will enjoy the battles. Those who like strong women who overcome social barriers and can hold their own will enjoy Doiyoko, Kendrick's love interest. Those who enjoy a little mystical and technological awesomeness in their main character will love Kendrick. And, finally, those who enjoy humorous situations and camaraderie will find more than a sufficient dose in this book to satisfy their funny bones. ·· Patricia Hamill on Goodreads

T.C. Filburn (tcfilburn) | 98 comments Hi all. Here is my offering, my debut Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Humour novella:

Martifius: The Wizard of the Eastwood
Martifius The Wizard of the Eastwood by T. C. Filburn

Martifius was a wizard. A very bored wizard. Bored, and thoroughly fed up with his lot. His life as a wizard had just not panned out the way he had been expecting when he first learned of his talent all those years ago. His dream of visiting mysterious and magnificent far-off worlds and doing great and glorious deeds had long since been shattered into a billion tiny pieces of insignificant tedium. His expectation of becoming a mystical and mythical hero for children to sing songs about long after his days had really not been realised at all. His existence had been utterly and interminably dull for a very long time, and his powerful and merciless fraternity made livening it up pretty much impossible. Still, at least the pay was good!

A simple, humorous tale about one wizard and all that has gone wrong with his life, with wizarding in general, and with the galactic transport industry.

Martifius: The Wizard of the Eastwood is the debut novella from new author T.C. Fulburn

Lisa Williamson (suteko) | 140 comments As I have a new novel coming out next week i thought I would push my other novels this week. All of them are fantasy, with dark dark undertones. Here you go!

[[ASIN:B008QXS69K Endings (Saga of Loralil Greyfox)]] is the story of a young elf woman who sees her family slaughtered and her village destroyed. Her only remaining relative is Mika Silvershaft, a warrior who rides to her rescue. Will he find her? Will she still be the innocent young elf he hopes. The first in the Saga of Loralil Greyfox.

[[ASIN:B00BFG8G68 Revenge (Saga of Loralil Greyfox 2)]] comes three years later. Revenge is a dish best self served

[[ASIN:B00AR34XKS Fall Into Nightmares (Chaos Wars 1)]] is my take on the end of the world. It doesn't end with zombies or war or disease but with a scream. Can three simple college students save the people left behind when technology no longer works and magic has taken over? You be the judge

And just in case you are curious the new novel is titled The Traveler and here is its blurb

Edana is the finest courier in the Six kingdoms. With her black stallion Midnight, she has built a reputation. But a robbery attempt and cursed blade turn her world upside down.

Now fighting for her life, Edana must rely on unexpected friends and kind-hearted strangers who introduce Magic and Prophecy into her life. Tales of elves, dwarves and elementals are proving true.

Is Edana really who they say she is? Can she really bring closure to an ages old tragedy? Or will events that took place before her birth doom her and all who love her to utter destruction?

S.L. Figuhr (slfiguhr) | 41 comments Hi all!

I can't remember if I introduced myself in this thread or not. So ignore me if I have.

I released the first 2 books in my Fantasy/Paranormal/Post-apocalyptic series yesterday. They are available on Amazon and Smashwords so far.

Immortalibus Bella by S.L. Figuhr

Civilization has come and gone in an event known as the Great Cataclysm. No one knows who, what, or even why it started. What humans remain are left to fight for survival in a world which has gone back to a second Dark Ages.

Almost all traces of our modern society have vanished, lost to age and the elements. Tales and legends have been handed down from the long ago further for over 2,500 years.

Hiding in the midsts, are Immortals. Some are still looking for old enemies, others are trying to rule their own kingdoms, and one has just awoken from a centuries sleep.

A small, mountain valley town becomes the convergence point where old and new grudges are played out.

Old friends and enemies converge on a small, mountain valley town. Will they finish their quests? Or will the humans be forced to suffer another purge not of their making.

The Reaping (Immortalibus Bella, #2) by S.L. Figuhr

The Immortal Wars have left the town of Macinas and its mortal inhabitants in danger of not surviving the coming winter. They are left to rely on the dubious protection of the Duchess Illyria and the Royal Advisor, Lord Nicky as they try to destroy each other.

Alliances are strained, as memories of past betrayals burst from the locks they have been kept behind. Meanwhile, the man with the key to the little boys Final Death has been captured by his enemies.

The townspeople are ready to revolt, and their king doesn't seem to care anymore. Families are torn apart, and strangers must learn to trust each other.

When the reaping is done, will the price for survival be worth it?

-Anyway: I lurk a lot more than I post, mainly because by the time I read an interesting topic, other posters who are more eloquent than I, have usually commented some version of what I was going to say. Thus, the lurking, since I doubt a "Yeah, ditto, what he/she said" is really adding anything of value to the conversation.

A Witch's Aura by Devon Volkel

Reviews: Romance, magic and suspense in a gripping witchery coming--of-age novel November 8, 2013
By Bronwyn Ritchie
"A Witch’s Aura" has romance. It has magic. And it has suspense. That’s a pretty potent combination and it works. The book is gripping. It’s been a long time since I was a teenager, and a long time (though shorter) since I have read a book for teenagers. I had forgotten the intensity that is the teenage years – how every little commonplace thing is vibrant and vital. Devon Volkel has captured this with uncanny accuracy, and she manages to communicate it really well. I know Devon Volkel is an adult, but I could have sworn I was reading a book for teenagers by a teenager. It wasn’t until she introduced adult dialogue that I realised she could actually write something else. The situations are authentic, the dialogue is authentic, the activities are authentic, and the whole teenage scene is so real. It is a shame that there are quite a few editorial errors in the book, and moments when the writing is a little forced, but even they contributed to the teenage feel of the narrative.

The romance is gripping. With names like Kruise and Shayde, it had to go well, but it is handled incredibly well. I had forgotten the incredible suspense leading up to a first kiss!! And while that sound like it’s written for “chicks”, the male attitude to romance is there as well. The romantic aspects of the plot and the magical aspects create suspense that builds and builds. The story contains several plot climaxes, and “gripping” describes them well. There were times when I was torn between putting the book down because I couldn't stand it any longer, and turning the page because I had to find out what happened. Devon is a consummate story teller.

There was “Romeo and Juliet”, then “West Side Story” and now “A Witch’s Aura” – an old theme re-worked with yet another modern twist.

In the end all of the threads of the story are tied up nicely and I certainly felt the promise of a sequel. And despite the fact that I don’t normally read teenage/YA fiction, this is one I will be watching out for.

I'd love more comments and reviews!

Ray uses his magical abilities to teach the townspeople the true meaning of unconditional love and Ray's family is warmly welcomed back into the community.

Please do take look, and thank you :)

From the product description:

"The Grove of the Sun" is the story of Order, Chaos, and one man's quest to save his land from destruction. Chimera is Ildanis's home, the only home he has ever known. Order rules Chimera, and Chimera relies on Order, and its elemental forces of Water and Earth. But Order cannot keep itself away from Chaos forever, nor can it avoid confrontation with Eventide, wielders of Chaos. Chimera cannot understand, does not want to understand, the forces of Fire and Air. But Ildanis sees what is hidden from plain sight - that Order and Chaos were separated through man's folly, and neither Order, nor Chaos, are as they claim to be.

Satis | 3 comments Hi everyone!

My debut fantasy novel, The Redemption of Erâth: Consolation, is due out early next year (no date yet), but you can read it here for the time being:

https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/...

I've left a brief summary below; I'd love some reads/comments/feedback!

Thousands of years ago, Erâth was a world of light – until the War of Darkness brought men’s advancements crashing down around them. Now overrun by twisted and terrible creatures, the race of men has retreated to a single land: Consolation, the last remaining bastion of light in all the world.

Born to tragic circumstances in this world of Darkness, Brandyé Dui-Erâth grows up in the company of his eccentric grandfather, learning the history of Erâth and his place in it from his grandfather’s many fireside tales. He is very much alone; the children he would play with avoid him, frightened of powers he is not even sure he has.

As he grows older, Brandyé learns of the Darkness of the world, and begins to see evidence of its influence creeping into the peaceful lands of Consolation. Foremost is the increasingly cruel governance of the lording families, imposing ever higher taxes and ever harsher punishments. Determined to oppose this injustice, Brandyé enlists in the service of a mysterious and secretive society bent on the destruction of the Fortunaé.

However, Brandyé soon learns that a path of resistance can easily become a path to Darkness. As he becomes ever more involved in the plotting against the Fortunaé, he finds himself carrying out deeds he would never have thought himself capable of. Soon he must face a final decision – one that will have devastating consequences either way.

All the while, he must struggle to understand the mysterious visions that only he seems to have, and reconcile his place in Erâth, which seems to be far more than that of a simple farm boy.

Hollan Lane (hollanlane) | 2 comments Hello! My name is Hollan Lane. I write YA fantasy, sci-fi and magically realistic short fiction. My first book, a fantasy, is out now.

Neblim

Everything forgotten ends up in Neblim.

Objects. Places. People. . .

Felix didn’t want to move to the old house in the countryside. He didn’t want his dad to start dating again – and he definitely did not want to end up in Neblim, the world of the forgotten.

Now if Felix wants to get home, he’ll have to join forces with Esther, a girl who’s been trapped in Neblim over a hundred years though she’s unchanged by time. As the two traverse the strange land filled with witches, crypt keepers and ancient ruins, their own memories slip away. To make matters worse, masked creatures stalk them from the shadows and a sea of mist slides over the entire world, swallowing everything in its wake.

If Felix and Esther don’t unravel Neblim’s secrets before it’s too late, they’ll be trapped in the world of the forgotten forever.

I've recently published my contemporary fantasy novel, Waking Dreams: The Torment of Colin Pierce:

"Sometimes Colin Pierce’s dreams come true--unfortunately they aren’t always happy dreams.

Several years after a horrible nightmare claimed his wife and youngest daughter, he finds himself pulled into the mysterious world of dreams again. This time the Wall of Sleep--the line separating the Dreamside from the waking world--is under attack by a malevolent entity known only as the Torment. If this monster succeeds in breaking down the Wall, what will keep all our nightmares from invading our lives?

It’s up to Colin, accompanied by his surviving daughter and their strange and mysterious neighbor, to go to the Dreamside to rescue the Wall and save both worlds. And maybe, just maybe, along the way he can save himself..."

Helen | 438 comments Just in time for holiday reading, my fantasy romance BLOODSTONE is FREE on Amazon Kindle Dec. 10-14: http://amzn.com/B00G8GTHRC

What if looking at the face of the man you loved meant death?

Years ago, warrior Durren Drakkonwehr was cursed by a mage. Now feared and reviled as the Shadow Man, he keeps to himself, only going to town to trade rare bloodstones--petrified dragon's blood--for supplies. Though he hides his face, he can't hide his heart from the woman who haunts his dreams...

Needing bloodstones for a jewelry commission, Mirianna and her father journey across the dreaded Wehrland where the beast-men roam. When their party is attacked, only the Shadow Man can save them. Strangely drawn to him, Mirianna offers herself in return for her father's rescue.

Living in the ruined fortress with the Shadow Man, Mirianna slowly realizes that a flesh-and-blood man--not a fiend--hides there in hoods and darkness. But are love and courage enough to lift the curse and restore the man?

Wendy Joseph | 6 comments Stellar reviews for THE WITCH'S HAND!
The Witch's Hand, by Wendy Joseph, is the thinking person's sword and sorcery, and preview readers have given it a thumbs up. Malaxia, the most formidable witch in 13th century France, has chosen young Liana as her protégé and successor, but Liana isn’t sure she wants to be the most powerful and destructive witch in the world, and doesn't want to cooperate.

Hounded into the wild by the Church, she receives unexpected help from the vicomte Jettaret, a returned Crusader and lost soul with PTSD, and his rascally friend Alberge. Magic, swordplay, and medieval faith and superstition share the pages, as Liana tries to find her path and decide who and what is good or evil.

The Witch’s Hand has contemporary applications and resonance—an ex-warrior with demons, religion-fueled hysteria, and the use and misuse of power. It is not an otherworldly fantasy but is rooted in the real world.

S.A. Check (sacheck) | 7 comments Hi...I'm S.A. Check and I enjoy writing Science Fiction and Fantasy novels, which is fortunate because I have a new book out with Bedlam Press, an imprint for Necro Publications, a leader in modern horror fiction, urban fantasy, sci-fi, weird westerns, and humor fiction.

What if while walking towards that final white light you saw a door? Would you take it? What if you didn't have a choice?

Welcome to GreenGrass is a sci-fi fantasy adventure exploring what happens when a police officer from Earth is thrown into an alien city, trapped beneath an invisible dome, and forced to find a killer, when all he wants is to find a way home.

Some early reviews hail it as "Men in Black meets interplanetary Columbo" "a darkly humorous edge" and "combines elements of J.K. Rowling, R.L. Stine, and Mickey Spillane into a wholly original tale."
