Therese has been voted most likely to survive a zombie uprising, but she’s also most likely to die during the first act of any modern romantic comedy. If you ask her to select a nice, light movie for your evening entertainment, don’t be surprised if she pulls out her thoroughly deranged Sam Peckinpah box set. She’ll catch your dinner and cook it, too. She has sea water in her ears, pebbles in her boots, and dog hair on her shirt.

DEAD RECKONING docks at a bookseller near you on September 8, 2020. Dead Reckoning is inspired by true events of the 1923 Honda Point disaster.

In the meantime, check out The Long Way.

"I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads Giveaway

I had never heard of this Naval disaster before this book, and after reading I feel like I’ve learned a lot.

"I love historical fiction based on real events, and of course I wanted to love this book. But it just didn't work for me.

This is an extremely short book. My review copy is small in size, with the story itself being about 115 pages. I have no issues a" Read more of this review »

"This is the story of an event that has faded through the years. A terrible and tragic story of seven naval ships foundering off the coast of California, September 8, 1923. It is the story of brave and courageous sailors who did the best they could in" Read more of this review »

Michael Connelly shared a note and highlight from
The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly
There is no client as scary as an innocent man.
This had to be the opening line of the book. I had the idea for an attorney who works out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car while driven by a client paying off his legal fees. I spent a couple years shadowing a couple of criminal defense attorneys on and off to soak up the aspects of the life. I was searching the whole time for the thru-line, the engine of the story. One night after work I was having a martini with one of the lawyers and I asked him if he ever had a truly innocent client. He said the reality was that he didn’t want a truly innocent client because the pressure to win the ...more
" Many thanks, Sue. It was a success! Coalesce Bookstore and the folks of San Luis Obispo county were so good to us. "

It's a U.S. Navy incident that very few people know about. How old were you when you first heard about the Honda Point disaster?
