L.M. (lmsherwin) | 19 comments Hello, all!

My name is L.M. Sherwin and I'm the author of Night Bells. It's a fantasy novel set in the distant future on an ice planet. It's a fun mix of science fiction and fantasy.

Synopsis:

Lord Maslyn has been a prisoner in his own home for the last six years. When the twelve year old noble of New Kristiansand discovers a secret passageway in his tower, he delves into a world of adventure, intrigue, and secrecy. With the help of a mysterious stranger and his friend Arna, Lord Maslyn seeks to unravel the secrets of his past and to plot his escape from his castle prison. As his life changes drastically, he is drawn into the larger tale of his elder twin brothers. Can he unearth the secrets of his family’s past without endangering those he has come to hold dear?

I'm very active on Goodreads and Twitter.

Darius Jones My new book, The Library of Lost Books, is free today (Sept. 4) on the Amazon Kindle store.

It is a fantasy novel set in a world where the greatest lost books of all time [think Mayan codices, Sumerian tablets, Shakespeare's Love's Labor Won] are gathered by a group of intrepid librarians.

Enjoy!

Chani (tempestchani) | 36 comments Hi! I'm the author of a teen fantasy series about witches, werewolves, the fey, and more. The first book in the series is titled, All That We See or Seem. Here's a short blurb:

Lily Bryg's just been sucked back into the realm where she was born. And where she died. Only problem is, that was well over three hundred years ago, and most of her memories of the place have disappeared. With an evil king out to make her his, and a prophecy looming over her head, can she and her friends find a way to stay alive and out of Ronan's clutches?

Dodging witches, demons, faeries, dragons, and much, much more, the Four are just beginning to realize that having power comes with a lot of responsibility. And sacrifice. But one question stands out among the rest, haunting Lily through out the nights and days. Should she fight Ronan and risk everything, or should she give up her freedom to the gorgeous, yet wicked, king in order to possibly save her friends?

Charity,
I believe you would be better served by letting us know your interests and favorite genres. I previewed your bookshelf and am impressed by the eclectic subject matter you choose to read. I'm also convinced you would be a fine reviewer. (Anybody who thumbs their nose at political correctness and only gives Anne Frank three stars must certainly be giving an honest opinion)
That being said, what do you get excited about reading? If you're going to spend time reading and reviewing, you might as well make it what you want. If you don't narrow the field, this thread will soon have thousands of requests.

Lee Donoghue (lee_d) | 9 comments Hi everyone

I have always enjoyed the idea of fantasy worlds, where unlimited possibilities collide with human strengths and frailties; where anything can happen as much by the determination of those who live there, as by a spark of magic. From those early days of reading Lord of the Rings before it became Hollywood blockbusters, and taking part in play-by-mail gaming before email, I have never looked back.

When not reading, writing or indulging in photography, I am employed to help people reach their full potential in the real world - where stories of determination and courage are just as prevalent and touching as in any fantasy landscape.

I have an ongoing project: the Eald Cearo fantasy short story series. A main concept behind the series is that everyone is more closely connected to each other than we realise. Our actions and their consequences can reach far beyond our predictions.

Each short story can stand alone, but gradually over time will build upon others. While each story currently features new and different characters, they will impact on further stories down the line, as the idea of 'six degrees of separation' plays out through their deeds.

Already released stories can be found here:

Amazon US: http://www.amazon.com/Lee-Donoghue/e/...
Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lee-Donoghue/...

And a blog for further supporting information is here: http://ealdcearo.com

I'd love to hear from you. All the best,

Lee

Hmm sounds interesting. I like your view on things and what you picked up and apply to world world issues. I beleive that such things like determination and courage can be unlimited and be gained in everyday life aswell :)

message 468: by Lee (new)

Lee Donoghue (lee_d) | 9 comments Hi Nic

I absolutely agree with you there - and I think the scale of determination or courage is not necessarily relative to the 'size' of events, but how we see them.

Everyday life is full of examples.
