A Court of Thorns and Roses

What do we think about the ending with Rhysand? [Spoilers]

Can't wait to hear! And all those gifts sound so plausible that I really can't pick two. We will just have to see. And I completely forgot for a second about his insult to Amarantha, and it actually struck me when I read it. Notice also that Rhysand played to his anger. Basically everyone knows that he can get homicidal to a new level for fae. It just shows that we really don't know him yet. We know a fae who was limited in every single way in life. I'm not saying he is or will be a villian. But I do think some uglier characteristics will show up. Especially when Feyre will start going to the Night court. Rhysand did say that he had a lot of wrathful rage going on when he saw the tattoos. It seems like he really does not have his priorities straight with her. Having sex instead of saying goodbye? What the heck?
And one little theory: What if Rhysand's parents were the decent ones? And Tamlin's father just did something really awful to them? Because to be in league with Amarantha you need to be a blood thirsty psychopath. I don't think that's why Tamlin hates Rhysand's guts.

That's the only reason I can think of them being nasty if they knew ultimately Feyre had to fall in love with Tam. I mean, if you knew someone had to fall in love with you to break a curse, wouldn't you NOT be nasty and rude? lol
This amuses me as well.
"Some would say you should be grateful for me finding you before another one of my kind came to claim the debt, for sparing your life and then offering you the chance to live in comfort."
Except he didn't do her any favors, except that her family is better cared for even if they didn't deserve it. But no one would have come, because the treaty didn't exist. So once again, he's manipulating her way of thinking, trying to get her to be grateful for what he's done for her--when in the end, we find out it's all a scam.
It's just amusing to me that people want to point fingers at Rhysand for being manipulating when Tamlin was very manipulating himself and far more sneaky about it, so much so that Feyre didn't really notice and neither did many fans.
We know a fae who was limited in every single way in life. I'm not saying he is or will be a villian
I agree. I think his past could potentially be an issue for Feyre. Mostly because I think she began to place him on this high pedestal so when she learns he wasn't as flawless as she thought, it will be harder for her to accept than if it was someone she didn't have the highest regard for anyway.

Which brings me to my theory. It started with something I saw on ACOTAR wiki--it named Rhysand as the son of the King of Hybern. Anyone can edit that, so there's a good chance this person just got their facts mixed up.
But it made me investigate.
I noticed on Sarah's pinterest there's a picture labeled "Rhysand's father."
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/2468536...
There's others that look similar (a guy in armor, with long black hair) that aren't labeled at all.

Now there's NOT ONE picture labeled "king of hybern" and yet all those pictures above look like a king to me. The last one especially, considering the king of hybern apparently has a book of spells.
Maybe those are the king, and he just happens to look similar to the photo labeled as Rhysand's father. But if it's true, that Rhys's dad is the king of hybern....shit just got real. haha
We know Amarantha and Tamlin's dad were in league together. I don't think it was specified if Rhysand's family was with them or against them. Considering Rhys apparently trained Tam, I think we can assume at some point their fathers WERE allies.
Maybe Rhysand's dad and Tam's dad got into it over hybern and who would rule it--maybe they were both meant to split it into two courts, but Rhys's dad wanted the entire thing. Or Tam's dad did. There could be many ways this could go, which resulted in Tam's dad and brothers being killed.

- He's wicked and powerful.
- He has a magical spell book.
- He was in favor of human slaves.
- There are no humans in Hybern.
- He's apparently very confident and patient. Amarantha was his best general and she not only stole his spells but furthermore took under the mountain for herself and enslaved all the high lord's. And this doesn't bother the king at all--the only thing that did would be if she didn't support his cause for taking back the mortal lands. (Which on the map, is super small and I have no idea why he'd want that little bit in the south???)

If your theory isn't correct then I don't know what is. It would make so much sense too. Why does Rhysand have such greater power than the others? And he mentions that everything he loves was taken from him. He is the only one I felt that understood her emotions and what she was going through. And it would make sense if you have King Hybern as your father. He wouldn't care much about his son. And if Rhysand became sick of being his father's puppet.... well that would get ugly. And Amarantha didn't do anything to his court at all. Everyone got hit, even though there were plenty who pledged to stay by her side. So why not his court? They are just trapped there. Was Amarantha too scared? Or was him being a harlot truly enough? If she hated him, I doubt it. And of course Sarah wouldn't label it. People would come the conclusion you just made lol. And I think that King Hybern must be more powerful than anyone. Rhysand has more power than Tamlin, and he also trained him. Next book will be filled with a lot of battle. I wonder if that is present or past but I can' wait.

Actually, Amarantha WOULD do something like that. She already did a lot against King Hybern. Tricked him even. Like WinterRose said, he is very very patient. Amarantha was like a pet off it's leash and he was starting to get annoyed at the running around and yapping.
Remember how Feyre mentions Rhysands cruel smiles. He in a way looks like a killer, even without doing the deeds. Now maybe his mom was from the Night Court, and King Hybern could have fallen in love with her. We see that there was a lot of cruelty surrounding Rhysand. But with Tamlin? He was the perpetrator. Leader. And so when he came to his senses, that's when the Night court would become the enemy. I don't think these rules apply so strictly, especially since we see that Rhysand's power outweighs the others.

- He's wicked and powerful.

I forgot to answer that last part. Maybe he is looking for something in that small piece of land? Which brings in your other theory, if Feyre had the power to find it and stop him.
Another thing that bugs me: People defend Tamlin a lot. But did they bother to ponder WHY he even loves her?He said it's because she felt her emotions so strongly and fleetingly. It's such a classic thing for an immortal to say. That would make sense why he is so physical with her. And I don't view what Tamlin did for Feyre's family as this huge kindness. Money means nothing to him. Doesn't strike me like his opinions on humans changed much, except that he doesn't want to torture or kill them. And that can become problematic if Feyre decides to fight for them and he doesn't want to risk it. I almost feel bad for bashing Tamlin all the time. But these little things just keep coming up to the surface.
And that's why I love Rhysand. His priorities were his court first. And his open honesty with Feyre, especially regarding her, was very refreshing. I only hope that Sarah doesn't make King Hybern so... one dimensional. I felt Amarantha was just on that line. Any more evil and she would have been the stereotypical villian. Evil can be charming, alluring, and show you just the right amount of kindness. Until it slits your throat.
another thing: when Rhysand gave those powers to Feyre in the end, he said this:“For what she gave,” Rhysand said, extending a hand, “we’ll bestow what our predecessors have
granted to few before.” I wonder if it was something a little more powerful or extra than the other lords gave her.

I think there was a time when they were allies, tbh. There's no other reason for Rhysand to show Tamlin "the ways of the sword and females" as he reminded Lucien unless their fathers were allies at some point.
As you mention, Tamlin is the one that refers to the Night Court as an enemy court. Which means he, as High Lord now, considers them enemies. If the Night Court wasn't allies with Tam's dad and were decent, why wouldn't Tam want to ally with them now? Why not ally with the supposed court that stood against his father, whom he too disagreed with? Why does he consider them enemies?
For someone to inherit the High Lord crown, the former High Lord has to be dead.
I'm not sure if this was stated, or if we're assuming since we know Tamlin's dad died and so did his brother's. Tam did say the Night Court has their own customs and does what they want though. So Rhys's dad may not be the king, but he could be alive.
Why didn't the High Lord of the Night Court welcome Amarantha and ally with her?
Well, because Rhysand was the High Lord when Amarantha came. I'm not sure how long he'd been High Lord, but Amarantha was visiting the Night Court--and all the courts--on the King of Hybern's orders. This was 100 years ago, so Rhys had been High Lord for at least 100 years.
From what the book says, Amarantha went from court to court to charm the high lord's and talk of more trade, more communication, and more sharing of assets. So she wasn't trying to make alliances between Hybern and the courts.

That's a good theory too. Maybe she even ruled the Night Court and when she died, Rhysand took over. I know we're all assuming only the men rule the courts, but maybe the Night Court was ruled by a High Lady before Rhys took over.
And I don't view what Tamlin did for Feyre's family as this huge kindness. Money means nothing to him.
Honestly from a strategic point of view, he likely did it for insurance and leverage. This way he could threaten Feyre--which he did--with it. If she leaves, he stops providing for them. I mean he likely also did it because he felt guilty taking away their provider, but there's no doubt he didn't realize the leverage it gave him.
I only hope that Sarah doesn't make King Hybern so... one dimensional. I felt Amarantha was just on that line
Agreed. I much prefer the king in Tog as a villain, and even Maeve. She as a much better Fae Queen in terms of antagonist/villain. Amarantha was this supposedly badass general and yet she was reduced to this cackling silly villain. I honestly thought she and Tamlin were going to have an epic fight, but no.

That's a good theory too. Maybe she even ruled the Night Court and when she died, Rhysand took over...."
Sarah is getting better at not writing fantasy by formula. If Amarantha was so powerful and ancient, why wouldshe not have guessed Rhysand's plotting. Heck, if it was me? I'd be keeping him on a short leash (pun not intended lol), especially since he likes to play games. But on the other hand, they are ancient. Time is just a different concept. She did write Feyre realistically though and Rhys is very layered. I hope we get more like that. Also I'm guessing the relationship Rhysand would have with Hybern is like Dorian with the king. It's all about titles and bloodlines. And if Rhysand is his son, then something went seriously wrong between those two. And maybe like Amarantha he's being patient with him. We'll find out.

Also, Matthew Daddario is my new Rhysand fancast. He's so gorgeous on Shadowhunters like goodness. *fans self*

It's pretty, but imao it could be prettier. The cover for ACOTAR was... darker. Anyway, I'm very excited for the book! I've theorized so much these last months, can't wait to find out if..."
Ditto! I imagined him older (and it says that Tamlin looks to be in his late twenties so I'd imagine the same for Rhysand). I pictured him pretty much the same way Sarah did:
https://br.pinterest.com/pin/24685362...
But that's the beauty of reading! So she's wearing the same thing from the last book, just her location is different. Also what is up with the swishing? Looks like it could be fae moving.

It's just that we now see her hand versus the last cover it was her arm. It looks like once you go a little higher than it's the tattoo from the old cover. I just find it interesting she is still wearing the feather black dress.

I like the cover, though I wish the blue was darker. Actually wish it was black/silverish in color scheme. Some things to note:
1. The UK version says "For love, she escaped death. For her world, she will become a weapon." So I think it's safe to assume there's no bun in the oven. ;)
2. Her armor looks a lot like feathers--could be indicating that she will have wings. It also reminds me of some of the Valkyrie art I've seen, some of which Sarah pinned.
3. They made a point to once again show the tattoo, so most likely she won't be getting rid of it or her bond with Rhys.
4. I wonder if there's a reference to wind. Notice the white stuff that looks like wind, and how Feyre's hair looks like it's blowing. Maybe her powers have to do with the wind, or maybe it's just a reference to flying.
5. You can see her skin through the armor, which makes me wonder if it's actually painted on her. Remember how Rhys had her painted? Maybe it's some sort of Night Court magic, but Feyre's outfit doesn't exactly scream battle armor with so much skin peeking through. So I'm thinking her outfit is from the Night Court vs a Spring armor outfit.

I like the ..."
He is gorgeous! Especially in the second gif. He does have a charming boyish thing going on, which actually reminded me of this.... https://www.pinterest.com/pin/2468536...
I honestly will not watch the movie if they do decide on making it. Humans just can't play fae well, and I can't imagine anyone good enough for these roles in my opinion. But I'll be happy for Sarah.
So the feathers are most likely wings. The wind I think is her working her powers. I just think she will have the multitude that the high fae have and then a special one. I definitely think Rhys will help her now. I do wish it was darker blue and silver myself.
And good catch on the last one! It looks like metallic armor with the swirls that Rhysand used. So I agree that it's a Night Court outfit. But she wore a similar style one in the last cover too, sans metal. So it's like we keep getting these hints of the Night court.

Very true on the outfit. I noticed it was kind of similar, but this one is a little more revealing I think. The front dips pretty low and again, there's a lot of skin showing if you look up close.
I'm so excited to see all THOSE PAGES OMG. 640 pages!!

Dude I KNOW! ACOTAR ended to fast considering that only the second half of the book really picked up. And I take it back! Orlando funny enough looks even BETTER now than in the 00's! That man does not age, he just gets hotter lol. And holy cow I just saw Daniel, I LIKE lol. *room heats up* It's funny because he actually looks better on camera than photos which is a good thing. He looks great in the Originals. But what I would do honestly if I had to cast? Get a new face. There is sooo much talent out there right now in the fashion industry. People don't hire models specifically because they are too pretty. It's kind of sad. But at least many of them have the whole ethereal beauty down. But then again, I'm really biased. Films just really disappoint me :(. I actually only like the LOTR and Hobbit movies and then Harry Potter. But it's ok. I know a lot of fans would be happy and I'm all for it!
That's interesting I noticed too. And I think it's a good thing... it seems like she will find some confidence in herself and her abilities this book. Maybe use her looks for manipulation a little bit. Of course covers are always more dramatic, but the point is there. Last dress reminded me of when Rhysand dressed her up, so i think this will say something too. Does Sarah ever give out teasers?

I wonder if there will be any early copies or ARCs.

On her pinterest board, Cillian Murphy is pinned on there as Rhysand a few times. If you have watched any of his acting, he seems perfect for it. Hopefully by the time they actually make the movie, there will be new people for it.
Honestly, I hate watching movie adaptations of my favorite books. I couldn't stand any of the hunger games movies and did not even bother with the divergent ones.
Only the adaptions of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Vampire Diaries are done well. And even those are not always that great (depending on who you are).

According to the author, Feyre has hair like burnished gold and hollow cheeks.
Maybe that new girl on Quantico? The pretty blonde side character...I can't remember her name.
However, I feel as if a younger version of Emily Vancamp would work really well. I feel as if her personality would really suit the role. Feminine yet aggressive at the same time.
Oh, and I thought of someone else for Rhysand. What about Nathaniel Buzolic? Looks wise, he is way off. But his personality as Kol Mikaelson somewhat fits the role.
For Tamlin, Luke Mitchell would be perfect! Personality and looks-wise too. He was on the Tomorrow People.

So for starters. We can say that some characters need political matches as well as romantic ones (High lords, etc.)
The Humans:
Nesta-She needs someone who is a little bit different from her. Well off, because despite the fact that she is now a lot more rich, she has a snobby attitude that needs to be complimented with someone who is arrogant yet feisty. Though maybe a little bit more optimistic. She needs to lighten up a bit.
Elain-She is super bubbly. For her own sake, she should probably finds some nice rich merchant human who is smart enough to make up for her 'bubbly'-ness and provide her with the tradition flower-growing life she wants. Probably a romantic that is just as optimistic as she is. I would tell her to stay away from the Fae because they all seem to have a darker edge to them. Stay human, Elain.
Faeries:
Lucien-He's not going for the High Lord position so the political element does not apply to him. However, I would say that he needs someone who would humor him and snap back at him. Someone who doesn't brood too much and can be snarky with him. Someone who lives more in the moment and not in their head. He is a little bit arrogant and needs someone who will not be ashamed of herself. To sum it up, he needs clever wit and arrogance.
Tamlin-He needs someone who is personality-wise like him. In all honesty, Tamlin seems to be a little narrow-minded and a one-dimensional thinker. He sees things in black and white morals. At the same time he is quiet and timid yet mercurial. This special someone needs to be observant and be able to see his subtle changes. He is very fickle in his moves and might be in favor of someone who can calm him down. Politically, I think most of the high lords like him at the time. He did not run away at the end of the book after Amarantha's death as no one really had a 'score to settle' with him. As of now, people like him. The only status-wise requirement is that she has to be a high fae because of the whole high fae superiority that was hinted at with Lucien's lover.
Rhysand-He's mysterious as hell, yet he has his 'tired and lonely' moments which make it seem as if he needs a confidante. Someone he can trust because he lives in these games. This special someone has to be able to keep up with his games and keep his secrets. Preferably, she would be able to help him out, but Rhys is strategic enough to handle that on his own. She cannot make him feel bad for his actions. Everyone already hates him, so this person cannot be someone who is going to change him or make him feel guilty for his actions. Quite the opposite, they need to make him feel 'okay' with his actions. Politically, she has to be a high fae. Also, he probably needs someone who is well-liked. It seems as if Rhys probably made a lot of enemies from his time as Amarantha's personal executioner and not everyone will see his side. He was one of the fae that ran away after the mountain outlast due to the people who had 'debts to settle'. Rhys would never apologize for the people he murdered as he is way too arrogant to do that. While popularity is not a requirement, it would be a plus for his political scheme.
Feyre-Hm, she is hard to do because her character changed a lot. For starters, high fae for sure because she needs someone who will help her get used to her new life. Also, she seems to be a little creeped out by the lesser faeries. She does not need a political match because she does not strive for someone who is extremely rich and she does not go out of her way to affect politics. Feyre is a brooder. She needs someone who will be able to contemplate life with her. As a person, Feyre is totally adaptable so I can see her with a wide range of people (which makes her a pretty cool character). He just needs to be able to relate to those dark parts of her life. But otherwise, she can work with a lot of people.
So there it is. See any descriptions that match your personality? (seriously, though). And what do you think are their personality compliments/matches?

So for starters. We c..."
Well, first off, you have to understand that Feyre has a lot of power now. She needs to be politically ambitious because she will have King Hybern to deal with. This is where Rhysand is better than Tamlin already. Tamlin likes to sit on the sidelines, Play victim a little bit. Rhysand gets things done, which is what Feyre has been doing since the beginning. She also needs as much power as she can get and the Night court is more powerful than the Spring one on a bad day. Plus I think once she gets there, she will feel at home. She belongs to Night.
I don't think Feyre will be a brooder for much longer. I think she will mourn what she was, what she is, and then move on. But she is also immortal and was a passionate human. This will be her time to begin living since she has never been able to do that. That's why Rhysand and her bonded so well. Despite his age, his love of life remains and he clings to survival for the ones he loves just like her. He just picked up demons on the way. Notice how in the end she saw the same ghosts in her eyes, in his.
The thing this, I don't want each character to end up with someone. Maybe I'm naive to think this isn't a complete romance, but I hope it isn't. However, I do have theories. Like I know plenty of people thought this up too recently, but how Feyre paints something for her sisters and herself on the drawers. And we know Sarah is the queen of foreshadowing. So what did she paint? Night sky for her, flames for Nesta, and flowers for Elaine. I definitely think that Nesta and Lucien will get together. Lucien comes from a very ambitious family with some viciousness, something that Nesta has and I think if she somehow became fae, she would be VERY appreciated in the Autumn court. I think Lucien will return to his roots. As for Elaine, she belongs in the spring court no doubt. Her passion is flowers and gardens, planting. She's not ambitious at all and longs for that simple life. Unlike Feyre, she is actually cut out for it. However, I get the feeling that Elaine or the father will die. Maybe both. Feyre will do something because it's a bad time to be a human.
The most difficult one to contemplate honestly is Tamlin. I think he'll be left to pick up his court and that will take time. He's been in this freeze for so long, plus he slacked off a bit too. I also see him getting some viciousness back. Part of it will be to do with Feyre, but also getting his powers again. I think that he'll maybe even get a little power hungry, fight some demons of his own. He's just as popular as Feyre. People will look up to him just like her, even if it's just to watch. I see political difficulty stemming from Feyre siding with the Night court of course. But maybe that difficulty will be from Tamlin himself. He doesn't just let go. We saw that plenty. And the last thing he will need right now is an alliance with another court.

Rhys's court is probably a lot more crowded and full of more people. I wonder how they will react to a wedding-dress clad Feyre in a court where black is the standard uniform. Feyre is definitely going to stand out. Poor Feyre.

I think that the fae will come back to the spring court definitely. But for how long with war looming on is the question. Lol! Yes, I am excited to see the reaction of the night court members. She'll be given clothes I'm sure. Or maybe she will even pack. Who knows? Although I think she won't be able to. Rhysand will need to get her out of there fast because of Tamlin.

We all know how dramatic Rhys is. She will probably be stolen away from spring court right before the 'i do's' and taken away to night court. Feyre will probably be super annoyed. And so will Tamlin and Lucien.
I wonder who will attend? There were only like ten major characters in the last book. Is it a giant political event where people from all courts and high lords that are allies are invited out of courtesy or a small tight-knit event? I have a feeling that Nesta might be there.

We all know how dramatic Rhys is. She will probably be stolen away from sprin..."
I LAUGHED SO HARD when I read the synopsis for that! It is so typical of Rhysand to do something like this lol. He'd be like you didn't invite me? I'm so hurt right now. I think Nesta will be there too! I really think Feyre will come back for her. As for the guests.... either it will be small, just spring court fae. Or. Tamlin becomes more ambitious politically and invites people fae from summer court and such. It looked in the end of ACOTAR that he was getting more involved already. The fae are looking up to him. I don't think he's just going to let that go after 49 years.

I think out of respect to Feyre for all that she did, they would leave her family be. And after thinking for a while, I really do see Tamlin taking the political route. Plus he seems like he has many friends over his long experiences. And Lucien would do the talking and planning!

The author said that she wanted to write companion novels for Feyre's siblings. So this could be an important part of Nesta's story and the start of the timeline for the other side of the story...it seems as if Feyre is going to be mostly in Night Court now. If there is a companion novel, it could be Spring Court during the war from Nesta's POV.
As for Tamlin, I'm not really sure where his character is going (we haven't seen very much of curse-free Tamlin). If the custom says that you should invite fae from other territories, he probably will make a political event.
But as a person, he is more of the quiet and tight-knit ceremony type. Probably in a meadow or something. He is not very good at politics, as he already admitted. He tends to leave that to Lucien.
If anyone was to make a wedding a political event, it would be Rhys...which he is doing by kidnapping Feyre. Leave it to Rhys to make new enemies.
I really want to know what everyone else thinks of Rhys at the moment. Do Tamlin and Lucien still hate him? The way Tamlin reacted to the tattoo at the end of the book makes me think they do.

Hmmm I am still on board with the mate theory and think Rhysand is claiming her on her wedding day because he was trying to get a grip on what he found out. Avoiding her until he couldn't, that kind of thing. And also because he's not a fan of Tamlin and claiming her would be hilarious (and we all know Rhysand's humor). Yeah that will just give him more enemies but I think he learned a long time ago not to care.
I would LOVE to see Nesta at the night court. I don't know why but I would like to see her and Rhysand interact. And then her with the other members. I want Feyre to learn to read at the night court and also make a friend there.

All in all, the wedding is probably going to be like the lunch scene we read about in the first book. Scary and frightening.
I wonder what Feyre has been doing this entire time. I feel as if Tamlin and she have a giant stop button. My guess is that she has not learned how to read and Rhys will make her (after all, he probably wants a literate high lady for his court--if she is his mate). Tamlin doesn't really care about those things. He's more of a 'let the chips fall where they may' guy while Rhys is more assertive.
I have a feeling that Feyre will love books once she finally learns how to read.
The second book is probably going to end on a huge cliffhanger. It seems as if Sarah has a pattern of alternating between resolved endings and unresolved endings in her books. I consider ACOTAR to be a resolved ending. The third book is the finale and probably will resolve the entire plot. This leaves the second book as a cliffhanger ending. Probably having to do with the king.

The word "discover" is what interests me. Discover by definition is to find (something or someone) unexpectedly or in the course of a search.
To say Feyre is to DISCOVER her heart's TRUE desire implies that her heart's current desire is not true. If her relationship with Tamlin was endgame/set in stone than why would she need to discover it? Makes no sense.
It's the kind of statement you might expect book 1 to have. Not book 2, after a romance is established. If she already has her heart's true desire, there'd be no reason for her to discover it.
Hmmm I am still on board with the mate theory and think Rhysand is claiming her on her wedding day because he was trying to get a grip on what he found out. Avoiding her until he couldn't, that kind of thing
That's how I see it too. I actually think he was going to let Feyre out of the bargain at the end of ACOTAR (that or he knew it no longer applied. Remember, she vowed for the rest of her LIFE. She died technically, so the bargain may be void.) Rhys told Feyre he was there to say goodbye--which would be pointless if he was just going to see her soon because of the bargain. But I think when Feyre brought it up, he changed his mind and just went with what she believed was true.
I would LOVE to see Nesta at the night court.
On one hand, I want to see Nesta's banter with Lucien. On the other, especially when I went back and re-read parts of ACOTAR, I want to throw her off a cliff. She was seriously so, SO ungrateful and whiny and a complete bitch to Feyre. Even if she went after her, I can't forget how awful she was.

Book 2 is 624 pages!!!
It will be broken into parts. Part one is called "The House of Beasts."

Ok, done with that.
Jesus I love the UK lol. They are so much better than the US at these things ;). So I LOVE your point. And here is something interesting: If someone were to argue that we are off our rockers and that discovering her heart's desire has nothing to do with romance, they would STILL be wrong. What does Nesta want? A quiet and peaceful life. Small and simple. She wants to paint and distract herself with Tamlin...ahem. And now she will also have to face her demons along with that. But now? All her plans are going out the window. She's significant. Important. Powers that rival many and the key to a lot people's salvation. No pressure. So what will Feyre discover? That she is more. That she can have more, and that there is a whole life ahead of her. Who also is quiet and has no ambitions for a public life? Tamlin. The spring court in a way is like their shield from the world. But everything is changing, and Feyre already changed. Her mood already will make her question her court. The last bit of happiness has drained from her right now. She doesn't discuss this with Tamlin. She doesn't seek company. All of this is so very important and hints at a huge transition.
I didn't like Nesta either and I want to see her punished (lol). The way she treated Feyre is absolutely no excuse. But I do think she has potential, I just don't think she deserves as much as Feyre. At all.
I love that title. House of Beasts.... House of cards? If that's a pun intended on that then I can safely think she's at the night court because of the game.
BUT. She can also be with Tamlin (which is probably the one) because she needs to keep a poker face. Her not telling Tamlin what's going on, pretending everything's ok, rushed wedding... yep. This one for sure!

So you are saying when Rhysand comes for her, he will pretend to be rude like he was at lunch? I definitely agree with the stop in their relationship. Especially emotionally. I don't think Feyre will discuss what happened to her at all, and I can see her not understanding why herself. Like she is still to stunted at her own change to understand her emotions. I think Tamlin will want the wedding just to claim her maybe? The tattoo will bug him immensely.

I don't think Tamlin and Feyre are endgame because the author is skipping over the big milestones in the relationship. An engagement is a big deal and the fact that we are being rushed to a wedding makes no sense. If an author (usually) ships a couple, they will go through all the intricate steps slowly.
I would like to see Lucien with Nesta, if anyone. They are both emotionally driven characters and probably would have some snarky banter. Plus, they both hold onto things in their past. With Rhys, I could imagine Nesta not being able to through his facade and act like Lucien and the rest of the Fae do.

I really want Feyre to break up with Tamlin! though I want it to be a... comfortable breakup like they're still friends after

Agreed. What got me most was when Feyre asked her to chop wood and she complained about what, her nails? Feyre was basically Cinderella and had to do everything for everyone. (Really, she shouldn't have, but if her entire life she was beaten down by her family it's not a surprise she didn't stand up for herself.)
They just came across as snobby brats rather than sympathetic struggling characters. I honestly hope they aren't taken in by Tam or Rhys or any Fae and have to pull their weight a while rather than constantly letting others hand feed them and take care of them.
There's potential there, but it starts with them recognizing how awful they treated Feyre. Elain wasn't as bad, but she still tended to side and cling to Nesta.

Also, I just realized Amarantha is likely the one who planted the idea of Feyre being Rhys's consort in his head:
"Hm," he said, examining his nails. "Apparently she or her cronies think I'll find some sport with you."
It isn't until after that exchange that Feyre starts going to the parties. And also, I noticed, after she starts talking to the tattoo in her cell and going a bit crazy.
When that screaming became too unbearable and I couldn't shut it out, I would look at the eye tattooed on my palm.
Already we start to see how Rhysand becomes a comfort. Locked four days in silence, she looks at the tattoo to try to tune out the screaming--then she proceeds to talk to it. There's also that scene where she hears music in her cell, and once it finishes, she looks at the eye again.

Also, Rhysand realizes how she is being treated. This leads to a change in her 'housekeeping chores' and food. In order to justify all of that, he thinks of a way to make it not seem suspicious.
The four days are how long it took him to conjure up the idea.

I'd be willing to bet it didn't take him this long at all--he likely had the idea as soon she left. But maybe he wanted to wait until that party--I'm not sure if there were parties those four days. Or perhaps, he used those days to start to lay the groundwork for Feyre being his consort.
Because Amarantha would have found out that Rhysand ordered no more chores for her and for everyone to leave her alone. Technically that's defying her own order she gave Feyre at the start, that she was to earn her keep. And yet she didn't overrule him. I wouldn't be surprised if Rhys told Amarantha that instead of chores, he enjoyed her so much he was having her serve him personally instead. Whatever reason he gave, it satisfied her enough to let him overrule her initial order.

I Bet you guys she's gonna do it in ACOMAF
Oh yeah for sure. What if she paints him and TAMLIN finds it? lol I bet that will happen at some point. Or what if when Feyre comes back to spring from the night court, she is constantly painting the places there, the people, etc.? And then that's how Tamlin will figure out where Feyre's heart is--through her art, since she doesn't verbally express her thoughts with him very well.

Also, the Tamlin-Feyre-Amarantha-Rhysand hallway scene and post-dungeon talk was a great chapter.
I think we can all agree on the fact that Feyre sparked the consort thing by sharing her perspective on the situation.
I also think that Rhys might have healed her hand for free until she asked for a price. He bet on her during the task and I really don't think he cared too much about money (especially when all the other Fae were scared of getting on Amarantha's bad side). It was probably a way to introduce himself to Feyre and eventually help her.
I think Amarantha was surprised by Feyre's appearance at the party.
I think Feyre's going to be scared of paining in the next book and thence will come to accept it. I wonder what Rhys will think of it. If she has the ability to see the future, painting her visions will probably be the most effective way to share them.
Rhys will probably force Feyre to learn how to read. I feel as if she will hate it and then end up becoming addicted to books.
Rhys doesn't seem as if he would be okay with having an illiterate mate. Plus, it would make Feyre's character progress away from her previous insecurities.
I hate her sisters for not teaching her. Nesta was so full of her old lifestyle and bitter about her life that she couldn't even do one simple favor.

Ohhh me too. And especially the scene leading up to it, where Rhys was in her head and his voice kept her anchored. I think it was one of the more emotionally powerful scenes in the book.
If she has the ability to see the future, painting her visions will probably be the most effective way to share them.
This power also ties nicely into her painting abilities. I can definitely see Maas going this route. Or, like I theorized once, maybe she can see across great distances. If she could see say, the palace of the king, that'd be a map worth painting. This power too, if she had it, would compliment her painting.
Lol Nesta didn't do shit. Just complained and whined. It makes me angry all over again whenever I think about it. There's really no excuse for none of them to teach Feyre how to read. The less of them in book two the better for me, IMO.
I do think Rhys will teach her how to read. But since Celaena is such a bookworm, I don't think Maas will have Feyre be as well.

It has to be big enough to rival King Hybern in some way. Something that could stop him.
Yes, and I have an interesting theory who on that king is....:) I'm about to go to bed but I'll post in the morning.
But the future thing does seem pretty powerful, as well as mind reading. Though Rhys already kind of has that power. Maybe she can see places? Like..how a crystal ball works. So she could literally spy on other areas without being there--that'd be pretty key too.
