Debunked by Dito Abbott. It’s a self published book, self described as Indiana Jones meets Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It’s a great read. I did a review on m page. I’m currently reading, Murder your Employer. It’s a great book so far, only halfway through it.
The best book I've read so far this year is The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell. It's a strange, post apocalyptic zombie story with one of my favorite protagonists I've ever read. I just loved this strange and weirdly beautiful book.
I actually don't have a favourite for this year but these were really good!- The body keeps the score - non fiction the family remains - true crime
the marriage lie - scifi
Go as a River by Shelley Read was a book that surprised me, and I still think about so I'm saying that is my best read so far this year!
The Watchers by A. M. Shine and Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia for gripping gothic thrillers.
The question says "read in 2023" not published in 2023.... I have 2 favorites that I have read this year. First... Horse by Geraldine Brooks. Amazing book. Great story. Antebellum south. Great Historical context. Loved it! Second... Overstory by Richard Powers. Published in 2018, I just stumbled across it this summer. I was in Mendocino county contemplating the last remaining Old Growth Redwood trees. Again, absolutely amazing!
Quite a few favs, but today I’ll go with Realm/Blade Breaker, Sword Catcher, and Widow of Rose House! Can’t pick just one!
A few good ones! Ready Player One I think tops the list.
Followed closely by Lost Among the Living by Simone St James.
Artemis by Andy Weir was also fantastic.
Hard to choose one within The Realm of The Elderlings by Robin Hobb - but this series changed my life !!!! Amazing amazing

I can't choose between Unwind by Neal Shusterman and 'Before I Fall' by Lauren Oliverboth are so good <333
Less by Andrew GreerTotally not my normal kind of reading but it seemed light and easy and it was but something about the low-key little novel blew me away.
Had a kind of gentle-lightning-in-a-bottle vibe!

The best book I have read so far this year is from Italy and I don't think it has been translated. All'orizzonte finisce la terra ("The Earth Ends at the Horizon") by Andrea Pagani. It is the journey of a young tormented soul travelling through Africa to reach Paris, a book describing the needs to find oneself and more.My review here:
Narrated with a well educated pen and full of emotions, this story envelops you from the very first pages and kidnaps you: a journey in search of oneself begins, a journey full of feelings, sensations and evaluations. The main character is a 16 year old boy looking for his own path, and to find it he must go through unexpected and unimaginable obstacles. The true nature of man emerges and Momar must draw courage from the depths of his soul. The ending is not obvious and leaves us with the hope that the world can improve.
I think my favorite book so far has been either Hooked by Emily McIntire or Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber.
