Mine this year is a tie - between Samantha Shannon's 'A Day of Fallen Night' and Stephen King's (no surprise) 'Holly'!
Ram with Books. wrote: "mine is Babel: An Arcane History"Can you believe I still haven't read this! Definitely on the TBR though
David Brook - The Second Mountain: Journey to a Moral Life. His differentiation of true community with tribalism quite literally changed my view point of life.
I know A Curse For True Love Hasn't come out yet, but I already know that it is going to be my favourite book this year. Assuming that Evajacks is end game and Apollo dies.
Don't Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones but All Systems Red by Martha Wells, though just a novella was very close. Favorite character is definitely MurderBot.
Between Babel by RF Kuang and Wellness by Nathan Hill. Honorable mention for The Last Tale of the Flower Bride
This is such a hard question! I want to say Fourth Wing because I absolutely devoured it (against the expectation that I would) but I alos lovedddd Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren and ACOSF (hot take because it seems like everyone else prefers ACOMAF but this one was my favorite)!

Apologies for cheating, but the only way I can answer is with a tie and three runners-up:Best books: Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon and Whalefall by Daniel Kraus.
Runners-up: Kingdom of Sweets by Erika Johansen, Dark Matter by Michelle Paver and The Dent in the Universe by EW Doc Parris.
If you haven't read the North Woods yet, drop everything and read it now. The Vaster Wilds was also extraordinary.
I would have to say Lily and the Octopus. Granted....I cried through half of it, ugly cried, but it was SO GOOD.
The Final Empire in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. It's as epic a series as Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.
The Fragile Threads of Power by VE Schwab. It’s absolutely incredible, especially if you’ve already read the Darker Shades series!
I started the ACOTAR series and am currently reading ACOWAR, and I have loved every book so far. but the best best this year has to be Fourth Wing! ✨
Emily Gunnis The midwife's secret although l am reading Mark's Edwards The House Guest at the moment and l think it will be my new favourite
A Court of Mist and Fury or The Daughter of the Moon Goddess, both are amazing books in their own right!
For me so far in fiction it's "The Secret Hours" by Mick Herron and for non-fiction David Mitchell's "Unruly - A History of England's Kings and Queens".The first is a slow-burn spy thriller in Herron's usual style and the second one of the funniest and most irreverent potted-history books I've read, certainly since "1066 And All That"
Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer hands down. The reviews for this book were so low on here but I personally fell in love with it. The writing was more than I thought it would be and the premise was not something I've read before, and the humor was just perfect. Personally, adored this book.
The Hollow Places by T Kingfisher and How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. Honorable mention to Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir.

I adore Murderbot and cannot wait for the new one to come out. I'm jealous you've already read System Collapse!
