They say monsters are made, not born.
He was both…

Chase
As the second youngest Ravage brother, I’ve spent my entire adult life rectifying our tainted family name and keeping my urges behind closed doors.
Until my best friend’s little sister shows up at The Hunt ready to play, and I lose control.
I tell myself it’s just a taste.
Except, with her, I should’ve known a single taste wouldn’t be enough.
And then the good girl I’ve known most of my life drops to her knees.
For me.
From that moment on, I knew she would only ever be one thing.
Mine.

Juliet
Presenting my brother’s best friend with a pros/cons list of why he should take my virginity seemed like a good idea at the time.
I thrive on information, data, and lists, and it made sense on paper.
Until he rejected me and walked out of my life.
Now, eight years later, my life is falling apart despite my careful planning.
Tempted with an invite to Ravage Castle, I show up seeking answers to questions I’m not sure I can handle.
Except, a furious Chase finds me talking to another man.
Under his gilded, arched roof.
I soon learn that despite his controlled exterior, Chase seems to have one weakness.
Me.

Prey Tell is a full-length, brother’s best friend/billionaire romance with primal play themes. It is book one in the Ravaged Castle series. All books can be read as standalones.

Warning: This book contains a possessive, jealous antihero, explicit sexual situations, and strong language. There is no cheating, and there is a HEA.

Eight years after Chase Ravage shut her down, Juliet Parker finds herself at her engagement party seeking out the man who still consumes her thoughts, not her husband-to-be.

After some self-reflection, she knows that despite being compatible on paper, Dylan doesn’t make her heart race. In a bold move, she puts herself out there one more time.

Chase and Juliet had great chemistry. That Chase was taking care of her behind the scenes was swoony too. My only grumble - and he didn’t act on it, so I almost can’t even be perturbed - is that Chase shared that he was prepared to take a partner at the Hunt even after Juliet made it clear she still wanted him. He didn’t and there was no one else, it just ticked me off. That said, I loved these two and I’m incredibly excited for the rest of the Ravage brothers!

How does this woman have a PhD in human sexuality and not know what primal play and BDSM entails?

Then I go down the list, marking off my hard limits first. Definitely no golden or brown showers. Catheterization. Enemas. Infantilism.

This is 50 shades-like. The hero is broody, is billed as an antihero, but he’s not really. He never sleeps with the same woman twice, he has them all signed NDAs, and they all want him for much longer blah blah blah.

He doesn’t wear condoms, and he’s with a different woman every weekend. For eight years! All because he doesn’t feel like he’s good enough for her.

Bdsm-lite
D/s
6 yr age gap
The one that got away
Manwhore
50 shades-ish

Do you know when you are craving something sweet, so instead, you have an apple, maybe some peanut butter, and then you end up eating the sweets instead? That is his hero. He should’ve grabbed that first sweet when he had the chance.

Around the 80% mark it starts getting really good, delving into deep emotional issues, brother/sister, relationships, best friend relationships.

The ending was great!

“My heart,” he adds, his voice softer. “You hold my heart in your hands, so please be gentle.”

My first book from Amanda Richardson and after finishing Prey Tell it won’t be my last. Chase and Juliet were amazing! Known each other for years and I could easily feel their connection and chemistry. Chef’s kiss.
They’ve been attracted to each other but Chase put a stop to it when Juliet was eighteen because of his sexual preferences including bdsm and primal play to name a few. But he’s been pining after her for years and I ate it up. So good. When Juliet finds out about his preferences she’s intrigued and let the games begin.
I had such a fantastic time reading their love story. Intense chemistry and steamy sex but it was their friendship and how Juliet broke through Chase’s walls that really did me in. He’s so attentive and caring. His friendship with her older brother Jackson was a highlight as was the introduction of his four brothers but especially Miles. I’m very excited about what’s to come and dive deeper into the Ravage family. What a ride.

It looks like I am in the minority so far, but this was shallow and bland. Spoilers ahoy as I break down the issues.

The premise struggles out of the gate. Juliet is 18 and headed to college. She doesn't want to be the only virgin, so she asks her brother's best friend, Chase, to help her out. He says no because he thinks she is too good for his dark soul. She feels humiliated and they don't speak to each much for the next 8 years. Please note that this is billed as a romance with antihero, but Chase is not that. Chase is a good guy with a bad father, and his only "darkness" is his kinks. He's not like, killing people or actively trying to ruin the lives of others. So his darkness is just the stain from his parent's history, and not his own. Everything he does in his life is to prove that he's not like his dad. As far as relationships with women, he requires contracts and only sees them for one night. Not exactly anything sinister.

The story picks with Juliet pursuing a PhD in human sexuality and being recently engaged to a bland human whose name I don't even remember. Chase pays for engagement party as a favor for her brother and goes all out because he's never stopped thinking about her, and she freaks out. They get into a charged confrontation and he points out she doesn't seem excited about her engagement (which is true), so he invites her to one of his notoriously scandalous house parties in two weeks as a challenge to intimidate her. Initially, she isn't planning to go but then she breaks up with her fiancee in the most bland breakup scene I've ever read and decides to go to the party. She quickly learns that the party is an opportunity for attendees to participate in some BSDM and primal play. But Chase sees her, freaks out, and makes her leave because she is too naive about all of these things. Which, despite a PhD in human sexuality, is apparently true. So she leaves, researches for two weeks, and decides she wants to give it go.

How do you dabble in the world of primal play? Show up to an exclusive weekend retreat you weren't invited to, of course! Juliet convinces Chase's brother to help and she shows up, asking Chase to be her Dom for the weekend and show her the ropes. He agrees. And here's where things get shallow. There is all this build up about the primal play. The retreat isn't a formal event, it's just a space where a select group people convene. I was really hoping for some type of orchestrated event, but no luck. Then there are two play scenes that seem like they would barely qualify before Juliet gets a minor injury and they end up just holed up in his room having tons of sex. During this time, they realized they've likely always felt strong feelings for each other which does not make sense to me. They spoke a handful of times over 8 years! That's it. Anyway, they leave the weekend and decide to continue seeing each other as their feelings grow.

They go on one date and then Juliet's brother figures out what is happening. He overreacts and tells Chase to stay away from Juliet because he isn't good enough for her. This sends Chase into a pity spiral and he then picks a fight with Juliet because she clearly deserves so much better. My eyes were rolling extensively. Juliet finds out her brother knows and overacts, and they both sulk for awhile. Then they both realize where they went wrong and everything is sunshine again.

There is also a minor storyline with Juliet creepy advisor that was distracting and incomplete.

On the plus side, the consent is explicit and enthusiastic. On the negative side, this whole book felt like false advertising. Everything happens within a week, and the author relies heavily on their past history to define the connect as they are "falling" in love. But take a minute and think back to when you were 18. If you are 26 or older, surely you can remember being impulsive and desiring inappropriate people, what with your incomplete brain and all. So the idea that Juliet held a candle for him all this time, and Chase did the same, is just too big of stretch since they rarely spoke to each other. The primal play was overhyped and underdelivered.

Overall, I didn't care about the characters and found the story to lack the excitement and tension I expected.

When he is obsessed before they even start interacting *excited tears*

”I am unhinged as a human when I’m playing. Bloodthirsty. Everything else sort of falls away. And Parker? She’s the ultimate chase. My endgame.”

This book has a classic brothers-best-friend plot but with sprinkles ✨ of PRIMAL PLAY. Pretty good angst too with 🌶️🌶️🌶️ might be slightly cheesy in some moments but I really enjoyed it!

Some random things I remember:
🏳️‍🌈 relationship (side characters)
fmc in academia
possessive mmc
scent marking
💦💦 play

fuck my sheets are soaked

this was so fun yet it hurt so good 😩 something about brother’s best friend, forbidden, and a bit of second chance always has me CRYING !!! this had everything i needed. the jealousy was chef’s fucking kiss 😚🤌🏼 the bdsm world had my legs trembling 🦵🏼💦🦵🏼 the push and pull tugged on my heart strings 🫀 i can not wait to get into the rest of this series because from the way chase briefly described them … oh i already know these brothers are going to fuck me up

juliet is such a relatable girly 🥹 i loved her the moment she said “fuck it” and asked chase to take her virginity all those years ago. she knows what she wants and she isn’t afraid to put her two cents in. she is so headstrong and will stop at nothing to have chase see what he’s missing 🫰🏼 when she realized her and her fiancé, dylan, really just aren’t working out, i was so happy that they ended on good terms. they both realized that they loved each other but were not IN LOVE with each other. they grew apart and that’s okay. when juliet stepped into chase’s bdsm world 🫣 i was holding my damn breath omg !! i loved that she was researching and doing everything she could to learn about his world of dominance. even though she is a sub, she holds her ground and will not be afraid to call you out on your shit. especially with chase

chase. fucking. ravage. 🧎🏻‍♀️ that man can secretly pay all my debts and dress me up in the world’s most famous dress any fucking day 🤌🏼 this man literally just wanted juliet to be happy. he knew he was no good for her but still kept an eye on her after he turned her down. all those years of no contact, he was never far. he was always there making sure she’s being treated right and has everything she needed. this man has always been so in love with her without even knowing it. and when she shows pops back up in his world, he doesn’t make the same mistake twice of letting her slip from his fingers … he quite literally “stuffs it back where it belongs” if you know what i mean 🤭 oh my god is he filthy as fuck !!!

these two are so beautiful and i love everything about them 💚 the way they both taught each other so many things had me swooning. chase taught juliet how exactly she should be worshipped and opened her eyes to a whole new world of pleasure. juliet taught chase that it’s absolutely okay to feel any sort of emotions, to love, and accept love.

Great read!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: BDSM
Angst: 😱😱1\2
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Chase is Juliet's brother's best friend. At 18, she propositions him because 1) she's been crushing on him forever 2) she doesn't want to go to college while still a virgin. He rejects her and its devastating. So devastating that she's been a living him for 8 years. But circumstances change and the truth about that incident 8 years ago isn't quite as it appeared.

Overall, I liked the story. I thought it was interesting - especially the primal play stuff which I'd never really understood. It was well written and moved relatively quickly, but I still hard a hard time connecting with the characters. It seemed a bit clinical to me? Maybe because so much of it was him "teaching" her? I don't know. Anyway, glad I read it, but do wish I connected more.

If there was one word to describe this book, then it'd be this - scorching. Juliet and Chase's chemistry was off the charts and I was fanning myself while reading their story. Add to that the fact that this is brother's best friend romance with angst, a J/P hero and lots of BDSM - which obviously makes it that much better😮‍💨 I adored Juliet and Chase and how the buildup and wait was so worth it. Absolutely enjoyed reading the first book in this series and I really look forward to devouring the rest of the brothers' books!!!😍

Dnf around 37%

I can't finish this book. The hero is a big manwhore who won't date the heroine because she's his best friend's sister. He treats her poorly and is jealous, which is frustrating. I don't like that he wants her but is with others during their separation. And he basically fucks her like he did with any OW from his past without a condom… 😪🤢

ARC REVIEW

This is a solid 4.5 stars! I love Amanda’s writing style! She finds a way to bring these characters to life! And when you give me primal kink???? Of course I’m here for it!!! Chase freaking Ravage!!!!!! I want one please!!! I loved how both him and Juliet had issues to work through for them to be able to be with eachother, they both grow throughout this book and are so well thought out! The only thing I would’ve wanted more of in this book is drama 😂 I apparently thrive on it in contemporary books! Also, when an author gives me winks to Vampire Diaries and Twilight with catch phrases? Instant love! I definitely recommend this for contemporary readers out there who love a Brother’s best friend romance 🤩! I am very excited for Miles’ book next! Mariage of convenience? Sign me up!!

This book was sooooo steamy 🫠 I thought I might melt from how hot it was. It opened up about a kink that not many books do. Sure they mention it to an extent, but this book talks about it with detail and let me tell you I appreciated it.

Though this book was hotter than hot, it also had some really cute parts in there 🥺. I would die for a man like Chase. Also I was half way through the book and I realized the connection to his name and I laughed so hard my boyfriend was giving me such concerned looks😂.

Thankful I didn't start with book 1 in this series, because I'm not sure I would have picked up book 2. That's not to say Prey Tell is bad, but it felt like every other slightly BDSM book I've read, whereas book 2 and book 3 push the limits a little bit more.

This was fun but memorable? Unlikely.

- Disclaimer: This review is just my opinion & thoughts about the book. I judge a fictional fantasy book for fun and don't have any intentions or ill wishes against anyone. This is just what I felt while reading.

- I would give the book: 0/5 Stars! DID NOT FINISH THIS BOOK (DNF). But why?

- It's a waste of time... poor writing story, boring and childish characters... overall a waste of time.

- .... I startet the book because I read a few reviews that said it is an amazing book. With great characters and a good representation for the BDSM scene.
- And I'm 1/5 into the book and it's... garbage (nothing against anyone who likes it or against the author).
- Neither ot the characters are well written. They have no real personality.
- He acts like the biggest asshole out there and decides FOR her, she doesn't even have a single chance to decide for her own....
- She acts more like a 16 year old, Hormon controlled teenager and not a 26 year old adult. Well, he acts like that too.
- I don't get it. Like what do you like about this book?
- He invites her to one of his parties, but doesn't put her on the guest list. She arrives with someone else. And he gets super jealous?!?!?!? He still believes that she's engaged.... no. Just no

I really like the premise of this. Amanda is a new author to me & I really enjoyed her writing style! For some reason.. it seemed like something was missing for me. Idk what that something was but I didn’t feel fully connected. I DO feel like this is probably the most realistic & well written primal kink I’ve read. I’m really excited to continue the series & find out about the bothers!

Sorry S4S. I did a shit job picking a book. Please take away my choosing privileges. Also plz never say mewling or acquiesce in my presence as I will transform into a demon so hateful and full of ick, I will bring about the apocalypse.
Also this author really needs to rethink her section of “I just let it happen. I didn’t say no.” Homie dats assault. That’s not okay. What if a young girl picks up this book and now doesn’t see that as assault?? Work on your shit

When I tell you that I was grasping for air reading this. The way this story had a chokehold in me. I was in shackles and shambles and babe I don’t ever want to be free.
This is the most well written spice that I have read in a hot minute considering the topic it handles. Primal and bdsm is not just for the casual cruiser and this was so so so fucking good. Insanely good.
Characters showed up and served what needed to fucking serve. Ain’t no weak middling dump side characters that’s waiting on the side. It’s genuine and authentic and every character had their own little story which contributed perfectly to the plot. There is connection between all of them that is smooth and real.
CHASE. That man. Ughh I would never die for a man but for this fictional man I would give my kidney, my first born, sacrifice all men in real life to have him. He is hot, rich, SIMP, who has been plotting and brooding over Juliet for years. Ughhh all the things he did for her. All the effort he put for her. The communication between him and her. Fuck meeeeee.
The smut? Impeccable. I was squirming in my own seat and giggling daydreaming about the fucking CASTLE???? Like helloooo

Love love love. I will keep an eye out for the rest of the brothers because I sense a good something brewing.
