Review: After finding the 3rd book in the Harry Dresden series just so so I was pleasantly surprised with this installment. I really liked the idea of the faerie Winter court and faerie Summer court. Although we have been introduced to the ways of the faeries with Harry's Godmother, Lea, we got a lot more information this go round. I love when faeries are introduced in books as the evil creatures they truly are in lore. The only thing I missed was Michael who was glaringly missing this go round. James Marsters' narration was great as usual and I'll definitely continue listening to them providing my library continues to have them.

I rolled. 6 + 2 = 8

Review:
I read this when in middle school. Interview with the Vampire was my first grown up book. I read it in 7th grade, thanks to my cousin that said I must read this series. At the time there was only three books. Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned.
I read this and loved it more than Interview with the Vampire. It is a book about Lestat, his maker, and those around him. It's a tragic story and makes you question so many things. At least it did for me when I read it the first time. I called it my little red bible. This was back in 1990 and 1991 before the whole sparkling vampire craze.
It built the Anne Rice world of Vampires which boomed. I'm very embarrassed about the movies but imagining they never have been made makes my world a better place--even if the soundtrack is great. This series and book made me jump into everything Anne Rice. I became a huge fan and read all her books while in high school--including The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned (Which will never be finished--this is before the internet). There is a lot of name dropping of Ramses in this book. This is also what made me pick up The Mummy.
This re-read took me back to that time in my life and a lot of the topics and thoughts from the book that I wasn't able to fully understand then. I remembered a lot but also forgot a huge amount.
This is a must read. Same with the other series (Mayfair Witches) I loved of hers--The Witching Hour! Now I want to read all my Anne Rice books.

Review:
This was the second book in the series. I read the first book earlier in the year. It was a cute western romance. I gave it three stars because even though I couldn't put it down (mainly because I had to read it) it was about the same storyline that the first book was in the series. Interested in another man but marrying or married someone else for one reason or another. Tho in this book I did love the development that happened in Christy who in my opinion was very stuck up and snobbyish when she came to Primrose Creek. She did a lot of growing up in just a short book. Other wise it was a cute western romance.
Summary from Goodreads:
This second book in a series about four women who inherit a plot of land in the Nevada Territory after the Civil War finds new marshal Zachary Shaw attracted to Christy the moment she and her sister arrive in Primrose Creek. But Christy is determined to ignore her heart, and Zachary needs to convince her that they belong together.

Second in Series

Review
This is the second book of the Bloodlines Series, which is a spin-off of the popular Vampire Academy series. I had read the first book of the series several weeks ago, enjoyed it and rented Golden Lily. After finished Golden Lily I promptly requested ALL books in the series (6) and have finished 4. Its addicting.
The MC Sydney is so entertaining. She's incredibly smart, very type A, and has led a sheltered life up to this point. Following her POV as she stumbles through 'normal' situations is pretty fun. The love interest is sooooooo dreamy. As I read #2-#4 within 2.5 days, I've kind of mushed the plots together but all have been engaging.
Give this series a try if you enjoy YA Paranormal Series. Although the main paranormal element is vampires, it isn't overwhelming (if, like me, you are so past the YA vampire craze).

Review: Good thing this one was so short and super easy to read as I goofed with my original choice. This is the second book in the series and absolutely nothing special. I was neither wowed by it nor did I hate it. Because I tend to love mythology, especially Greek mythology, I enjoyed it a little more than the book actually merited. It read a bit more immature than the targeted audience. I assume that since the characters are talking about their last year of school they are 17-18 yrs old but it reads like early teen to me. Overall a nice filler book. I'd read more of them should the author put out more full length books but I won't go out of my way to read the novellas/short stories that she published.

Third in Series

Review
I actually picked this book out as it satisfied the criteria for several challenges that I've been hung up on. I was a bit wary renting the e-book as I haven't read the two prior books in the series. I was happy to find out that it wasn't necessary - the author does a great job bringing everything up to speed without the reader feeling like they missed out on key parts.
This was my first 'Cozy Mystery' read. There are several things I like about the book. The relaxed atmosphere, likeable characters, and recipes included throughout the book are just a few. I also REALLY enjoyed that the book took place in my neck of the woods. Makes reading a book much more enjoyable when you understand the climate/setting/traditions. I also love to see winter celebrated. Specifically mentioned was the Ice Palace in St. Paul, MN - went there throughout my childhood and it's like a fairy tale :)
So what didn't I like? Relationships/romances were kind of duds. After looking into it, that seems to be a hallmark of Cozy Mysteries. Also, everyone was so gosh darn nice, and it was quite obvious (to me anyway) who the killer was going to be - even though the reasons were largely unknown until the end.
Going to try more Cozy Mysteries (just love that genre name), but probably not from this series.

If I Stay

Review
I love this book! I think the relationships between the characters is amazing. the girl with a cello and a boy with his guitar, it seems to be a unusual pair but it works. i felt like i could relate to all of them.it made me wonder about a lot of things too.
I didn't like the way the timeline moved i got a little confused at times. i understand it is how she was remembering her life, but i still got confused.

how is everyone else coming on their books?
I'm almost done with mine and will post my review later this evening.

This was a cute western romance but it's just like the first two books in the series. Tho it was still nice to see Jake a character from the second book get his happy ending. Tho this book did leave me with questions about the last mcquarry, Megan. I can't wait to read the last book in the series to find out what happens to Megan. in this book Megan tells us of her dreams and what she sees her life being and I for one can't wait to hear of all of her adventures.

This is another re-read for me. I'm going through all entire series again. I first read this in Jr. High School and loved it. It's the third book in the Vampire Chronicles. My favorite book is the second in the series but I do enjoy this one a lot. I liked it because it's a lot of the back story/history of the vampires.
The thing about Anne Rice is she puts in all bits of her other books into the Vampire Chronicles. There was some name dropping of The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned in book two and now there is more of Talamasca which is part of the the Mayfair witches.
I can't wait to re-read The Tale of the Body Thief which came out my freshman year in high school and I was so happy my grandmother bought it for me. I haven't read it since high school.
As for the movie. It's horrible and is more of The Vampire Lestat with some Queen of the Damned but switched up and not right. I was really upset with it. I did like the soundtrack.

Review: I've yet to read a bad IAD book. Ever since I read Cadeon's book (which was the first book I ever read by Kresley Cole) I've been eagerly waiting for Rydstom's. For such a honorable man Cole's pairing him with such an amoral woman was just so excellent. Sabine's Sorceri family views demons as some of the lowest creatures ever so even from her perspective this was a match made in hell. Sabine was a hard character to like because everything she did seemed, well, just wrong. She killed first and asked questions later. She plotted, planned and connived through the whole book, heck, through her whole life yet ultimately I really did end up liking her and found her perfect for my boyfriend Rydstrom. She's the Yin to his Yang. Speaking of boyfriends, loved the addition of Lothaire and Thronos and even though there are many other IAD books I should read before their books I'm tempted to just skip ahead and read them first.

From the Four Star Shelf

Review
Pulled this one off of the Four-Star Shelf. I haven't heard much about it (aside from the shocking title) but the movie synopsis seemed fun so thought I'd give this a read before watching that.
The Duff is a fun YA book that focuses on Bianca (The Designated Ugly Fat Friend) and her struggles with romance, family and friends. Not an overly shocking plot line but I absolutely adored Bianca. She's a very adult-like 17 year old in terms of thoughts, dialogue, mannerisms, etc. (think John Green's books or Juno). Surprising amount of hanky-panky for a YA book. While initially put off by the whole 'Duff' idea (and the fact that the actress playing her is this little cute, petite doll) - the story has a surprising message about shaming others. Very much enjoyed :) Actually checked out another book from the same author yesterday!

Review: This is my least favorite in this series so far. It was short (by Cole's standards at only 255 pages) and although it felt complete I was not liking the spoilers that it had for books 2-7. I've read this series way out of order starting with 6 then 5 then 9 and so on. Most of the books happen simultaneously so reading them out of order was not a problem as there were no real spoilers. This story, however, divulged who killed the baddie in book 2 and who won the hie that happened during books 3 and 4. Anyway, it was disappointing. The romance was not terrible but I never really warmed up to Danni. This is definitely a book you'll want to read in order to avoid spoilers.

Wow. I absolutely loved this book. Linda definitely saved the best for last. I learned so much about the characters in this book and there were so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. There was only one thread that was left untied but it wasn't a main part of the story so not a huge deal but would be just fun to know what happened. all together this final book was by far my favorite out of this short series. I can't wait to read more of Linda Lael miller books in the near future.

i don't know what i was expecting from this book, but it turned out to be great. Elpheba's struggles were so real. it made me think of a character who has been portrayed as a villian, and how did she get there. instead of seeing the wicked witch of the west it was Elpheba, the girl with green skin . it was very entertaining to say the least . i loved it.

Review:
I have been meaning to read this for a long while, I had heard so many good things about it, and I was really excited but either I built up the hype in my head too much or something because I was a little disappointed in the book. It started off really well, but in the middle just seemed to be dragging, I knew the book wasn't going to be deep or serious but it was pretty shallow as to we don't get to know a lot more about the characters. There isn't anything serious, a lot of innuendos and some hilarious conversation, but very little serious meaningful conversation. The book spent way too much time on the missing O and after a while it was just too much. There were good parts and that's the only reason I gave it a 4 star, the secondary characters, a lot of humorous moments and most especially Mr. Clive instead of a 3 like I wanted to.

there a lot of teams who have rolled past 100 today so the first team to finish wins which also means we probably won't have to read a book for this week since someone will win.

I love tho series. Amazing and raw. I am a little disappointed with this book. I have really liked the first three books. The third is my all time favorite (so far).
Tho book focuses on a lot of the other back story characters from the first three books. There is also some of the other main characters.
I have been watching the series on HBO. There are some switches, and parts missing from the show that was in the book. That the entire funeral of Tywin. Still, I enjoined this installment of the song of fire and ice. I am looking forward to book five.

This probably is my least favorite of the whole series, I think, its just really hard to top the first 4 books, needless to say its still 5 star worthy, but in comparison to the whole series, it would probably be my last book in my rating. But still good, not really in love with the MC as I was with the other characters in other series.
