Review: the third book in the trilogy about vamipres , withes and Daemons. i liked how some questions were finally answered.this last book is my personal favorite because the relationships between characters is more complicated and after all this wondering about the book of life the answer is kind of suprising. i love supernatural novels so this was fun to read.

Review
Well as promised this book definitely hit me pretty hard in the feels and I did end up shedding a few tears - not as much as I expected. I've seen this book rated VERY high. I know if I rated/reviewed it right after finishing I probably would have rated it higher, too.
It started out GREAT. I love road trip adventures, especially those that include a fair bit of wandering (no set destination - Wanderlove was a wonderful example of this). The romance was slow to build, fun, and *fairly* realistic. That changed about 1/2 way through...
I was initially put off by the MC's love interest Andrew - he was very quick to anger. Even before he really established a friendship with the MC he was considering beating up a guy if he hit on the her. Throughout the book he actually did get in TWO fights for guys hitting on the MC. Not a super attractive quality (I'm sure some like it).
Also, if you are interested in this book, be warned that there is a fair amount of sex in it - a fair amount of domineering, semi-aggressive sex. When they sexy times started it kind of bogged the story down a bit and I found myself no longer enjoying the characters and the plot. I'm not a prude, I just hate when books become all about it after that threshold is crossed. Also, do people really start every sentance when talking with their significant other with "Baby" or "babe"??? Whew that was annoying.
Story did have a bit of an emotional twist towards the end that I actually didn't see coming. Crisis was quickly resolved - think the author really could have played this up more.
Will not be reading the f/u book to this.

Review:
This is an amazing book. I've always wanted to read it and it's been on my TRL for a long time.
Charlie, the main character, has some major learning delays and special needs. He is like a guinea pig to the same alteration as the mouse Algernon. They start to learn and become extremely intelligent. The interesting part is to see the progression and progress Charlie goes through. How his first very innocent and with the knowledge learns more of how interactions with others are getting more complex. That he doesn't understand his feelings or their feelings. Things go very quickly for him and to me the most shocking of interactions is with his co-workers.
It's a story about human nature and it can be nice and beautiful but there is also an ugly side to it as well. Charlie learns his world isn't so black and white and we go along with that ride with him.
I recommend this book to everyone. It's one of those books everyone should read at least once in their lifetime. It's one a few of my list, the Guardian 1000 books to read, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, and NPR Sci-fi/Fantasy 100 Books to read.

Review
This was my first Barbara Freethy book and I have a few of her that I have picked up from book sales this was an ebook freebie. I loved the story line. The two main characters Wyatt, a cop from San Francisco who's daughter had been kidnapped, and Adrianna, a chef who's boyfriend was shot during a robbery gone wrong, come together to make each other both face their fears as well as try to make each other's days just a little easier. This book was adorable and such a great read. This book was a perfect example of how when you find that special someone who makes things better they are worth fighting for and family isn't only just biologically but who you have a connection with and make your family. I loved this book and I'd recommend it to any romance readers out there. There was love, action, suspense, and humor all in one book. That's a great book in my book :)
Summary from Goodreads :
Adrianna Cavello's life changed in an instant when a break-in at her restaurant took the life of her boyfriend and left her too traumatized to return to work. Months later, with everything she's ever wanted on the line, Adrianna makes a wish by tossing a coin into a fountain known for making miracles.
Wyatt Randall is also in need of a miracle. Two years earlier, his ex-wife kidnapped their daughter, and Wyatt is desperate to find his little girl. A new lead raises his hopes, but quickly fizzles out. When his coin clashes with another, he sees what little hope he has flying away.
Adrianna and Wyatt soon learn that they have more in common than two coins that collided. In fighting for the lives they lost, they must learn how to trust again. Only then will they discover that meeting each other and falling in love might not be what they wished for, but exactly what they need.

First of all i absolutely love dystopian novels. this one was not a disappointment. the idea that love is made a disease to be cured at your eighteenth birthday is interesting to say the least. i enjoyed the variety of characters. this author has created this world where i could get lost in and also makes me think.
cant wait to read the rest of the series

Roll 5 Spot 36
Book: The Marriage Lesson by Victoria Alexander.
Date Read: 4/23/15
Rating: 3 Stars
Theme: Book 3 of the Effington's Series.
Review:
I love Victoria Alexander, but this book was kind of disappointing. Not really a fan of the heroine, I liked the hero from previous series but overall, I wasn't feeling the interest. This past week, I have read some really mediocre to bad books, and had like 2 books that I loved, so maybe I am being harsh on the rating.

When's the cut off?

Review: I love the Harper Connelly books 1 and 2 and was looking forward to this one so much. It was going great up until the sex part. I don't think graphic-ish sex is needed in mysteries. I just about choked on my water when the term phallus was used....really Charlaine? Phallus? The sex felt out of place especially when one considers the two involved. The mystery was decent enough but the sex truly ruined the book for me. The relationship between Harper and Tolliver blossomed and normally when characters progress it is a good thing. Not so much this time. I'm thinking of not reading the 4th book in the series which is unfortunate considering my praise involving the first 2.

I rolled a 3+1 putting us on spot 40.

Review:
This is the first time I've read Black Beauty. I grew up knowing it just one of those horse books. I'm not a huge fan of horses. I had friends that loved horses but for me it just wasn't my thing, nor was reading about them. That judgement and bias stuck with me all the way until I've read that book. I picked up this book because I needed to read a book about horses for anther reading challenge and thought, well it's shorter than other books so why not.
I'm so glad I picked up this book. I really missed out on this brilliant story. Before I read this I read Watership Down. It was neat to read about all those bunnies and their world through their minds. By reading it, it geared me for this style. Black Beauty has the same POV. It's a story through the eyes of the horse Black Beauty. It's his world and how he is processing it. It's so much more than just a story about a horse or horses. It's about connections with others. It takes a looks at how people take things for granted and how they can take advantage of it and not realize they have a good thing when they have it. He is a charming horse and I loved the characters. I felt so bad for the horses at times. In many ways it looks into the topic of slavery.
This is a book that everyone should read. I'm very glad I read it. It's a shame it took this long for me to read it. What a surprising story!

Review: It's hard to review this book without giving away spoilers for the previous books. Just know that you should definitely read these in order as the characters and their relationships build and grow a lot over the course of the first 3 books. Now for this one. While I think this book had so much to offer (excitement, passion and crazy action) I think the way Raphael and Elena's relationship has blossomed is spectacular. Elena has matured into a fascinating character. In the first book I thought her attitude tended to be a bit crass and could have used a heavy dose of self perseverance. When a being can kill you 1001 ways with only a thought staying under their radar is a good idea. Elena has trouble doing this...or rather had trouble doing it. She's matured greatly. She is now able to rely on her Archangel for comfort, for a sounding board, for pleasure, for just about everything. It was nice to see her transformation and I think this is only the beginning. So because I'm so character driven it's no wonder that their relationship amazes me but I'd be remiss if I didn't add that Singh's world building is excellent. What a world she created with Angels and their Vampires. Yes I said that correctly. Angels make vampires. Interesting, right? The only thing that I was a bit confused by in this book was one of the oldest of the Cadre, Lijuan. (view spoiler)[She had some major changes happen to her in the last book and I was under the impression she no longer had a physical body but maybe I am confused (hide spoiler)] which is why this book didn't get a full 5 stars.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
