This cozy mystery is set in western North Carolina. The protagonist owns a book store and the novel is filled with references to books that may lead to an increase in your TBR. Amateur sleuths, great friendships, and more....

The author has crafted a novel filled with native folklore interwoven with a coming-of-age story and a riveting and all-too-real mystery. Overall, this amazing, memorable, and emotional debut novel is a powerful and vivid page-turner with great world-building details and tension.

PamG (lynguy1) | 2533 comments Here is my 3.16 rounded to 3 stars review of The Secret Service of Tea and Treason The Secret Service of Tea and Treason (Dangerous Damsels, #3) by India Holton by India Holton:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

India Holton blended historical fantasy, romantic comedy, and espionage. Overall, this memorable and funny novel has adventure, romance, a mystery, and plenty of excitement. My biggest quibble was that there were times when the story was more “telling” than “showing”. While the book is somewhat over the top, it also has more depth than one might expect with the level of romantic comedy involved.

PattyMacDotComma | 1260 comments If John Boyne had invented all of this, people might say it's too far-fetched, but, in fact, Crippen is based on a true story. A creepy 'doctor' and a curious tale.
Crippen by John Boyne 3.5~4★ My review of Crippen

PattyMacDotComma | 1260 comments Fractured Oak is an unusual and entertaining mystery with an oak tree as a key witness who can't testify. Author Dannie Boyd mixes magical realism with a good police story and it works.

PattyMacDotComma | 1260 comments Aussie author Garry Disher can make even a bad guy (and Wyatt IS a bad guy) a compelling protagonist. Paydirt is #2 in the series, but would be a good read on its own. Clever plot and dodgy characters.
