Favorite January read: Oof, favorite is so hard a concept. I gave 5 stars to WEB Du Bois' love songs and to Nettle & Bone, so those are the "best", but if I'm to go by books that made me say wow, I think Undercover and Earthlings both are standouts.

Least favorite: Unfortunately, Max Gladstone's Craft series opener left me cold, but I think I'll try another in the series and hope for redemption.

Favorite February read:
I think Tove Jansson's Summer Book was perfect. The audio was perfect. Everything about it. I didn't expect that.

Least favorite:
I didn't hate any of the books, but the Loom series had some issues, and I didn't love Bruising of Qilwa or Seven, at all. They both have good concepts but the execution is lacking. Editing to add: Ugh, I skipped over Genesis of Misery, which was such a disappointment and obviously my least favorite.

Favorite March read:
I gave 5 stars to Vicious and to The Witch's Heart, but Under the Whispering Door and KJ Charles are also feel-good++.

Least favorite:
I didn't like Machado's memoir, because I really can't stand people who torture animals and then cry about abuse to themselves. On it's face, it's important to talk about abuse in same-sex relationships and so her story deserves it's space, but I can't get over the hypocrisy.

Favorite:
I finally got *several* 5-star books! All very different: Spear, queer Arthurian-setting tale; Ripe, late capitalism dystopia; and Translation State, sci-fi.

I have to say that I'm very frustrated that when I focus on some marginalized intersections -- like this month, queer and disability rep -- I find that I have a minimal number of WOC in the list. If I concentrate on WOC I tend to not have enough 🌈. None of my 5-star reads were by WOC.

Least favorite:
Pacifique and Jobs for Girls with Artistic Flair both got 3.5 stars, but the former got rounded up on GR and the latter down, so I guess that's the one.
