Yes... BUT... World Trade Center was also bombed in 1993, I think... just on a more minor scale... so there's something to take inspiration from in the 90s...

Loyalty in Death

Oh dang. Good news is you have a new one to read. I enjoyed it a lot. Glad I did not write any major spoilers for you.

I enjoyed it just fine:) From the moment Peabody's brother was introduced you just knew he would be involved in everything somehow... Those Freeagers are something:)))
What was interesting to me was all the things the government had done in their pursuit and capture of the Apollo terrorist cell... The anger and kind of carte blanche they used really reminded me of everyone's attitude after 9/11... We even supported starting a war with a country which had nothing to do with it, just because their people looked a bit like the terrorists... The anger and the desire to make someone pay is irrational and gets totally out of control when in the scale of a whole country... I was thinking how we were constantly told "we" were killing all types of terrorists, but did we really? And how many people who had nothing to do with it became "collateral damage"? I can see how relatives might decide to avenge their folks, despite us having no idea how those people were affected...
I know in the book , end of book spoilers, (view spoiler)
I can totally see the very hot in the 90's passionate pushing and kissing as dating itself, and kind of WTF in today's world:))) Hahaha! They didn't call them "bodice ripping romances" for nothing:))) OMG, I am dating myself big-time at the moment... Hahaha!

1. How did I miss this comment until now?
2. I know exactly what you mean, except I could not read fast enough to go backward before going forward, so I spent a lot of time struggling or in limbo.

Exactly! Gen Xers get that scene.

Oh for sure! Its funny how time and culture changes perspective on things...

LOL!
*Confession* I have never seen 9 1/2 weeks, but I remember the buzz around it!

PS - What book are you up to?
I just started #10... In Death Day!!!
Re:romance/sexytimes: way too many shows targeted at teens romantacize "sex offender romances"... student/teacher/etc... Ezra/Aria in Pretty Little Liars is a good example...
And speaking of stalker romance, didn't the main character of that You show feel weird how many fans loved him / his character?...

It's a show about a serial killer who gets obsessed with women that become future victims... based on a book...
I never watched it either... but recognize the main actor from Easy A... was also on Gossip Girl, apparently...

I would have concern for those who love the character. That said, if any of you watched season two, or was it season three, I can’t remember, but he met his match. If he is crazy, she is in a category all to herself.

Season 3... I saw the poster while looking for the season 1 poster... made me almost want to watch... they looked like a happy family in the suburbs... but were baking body parts into pies or something... there was a bloody Kitchen-Aid Mixer in the poster...
Season 4, he looks like a grumpy professor with alot of facial hair & a cardigan...

Soooo... Either the two people before me were incredibly speedy readers, or they changed their minds. My hold came in today... LOL

I'm a bit behind on these I think we were supposed to be on 11 or 12?

I think the official start date for #11 is Monday, 23 Jan 2023. :)

Okay, well, I officially, officially love Mavis.

Hah! That's a great turnaround! Huzzah!
I'm going to backtrack to Loyalty #9 after I'm done with current audio, then jump into #11... hopefully I won't get whiplash from having accidentally skipped to #10... looking forward to y'alls juicy #9 spoiler tags.
Normally I'd be the same camp as @Choko & Nyssa about reading books out of order-->.< gah! I just can't believe I didn't notice!

I don't think anyone has finished #10 yet (except for accidental me)--do we want to push #11 start date to next Monday (1/30) instead of 1/23? Also let some of the hold-waiters and just-starteders catch up?

Please let me know when we officially get to Betrayal in Death (#12).
