#13 Seduction in Death Oh hey! There's actually a nice throwaway line about how Roarke keeps the place clean! Something about "Eve had never seen a droid or human cleaning staff, but someone as rich as Roarke could afford help that was invisible." <--paraphrased.

Ugh! Right there with you! I am REALLY looking forward to Eve smashing their smug faces in... the sooner the better...
Choko wrote: "I think it comes with insecurity in one's relationship... When I was in a committed relationship, I was never jealous or suspicious, but if I was in a relationship where nothing was clearly stated,..."Very true... Like Nyssa said, I'm so ready for the drama to be over here... I'm almost willing to bash their heads together myself. Both of them are being cruel and stone-age-ish.
The first issue, I think, (view spoiler) is that they never sat down and defined their relationship--I don't know if this is part of what you were saying in your comment Choko, or if I'm just taking it this way--but Peabody & McNabb just sort of started lusting after each other but never talked through boundaries or expectations. Though, to be fair, I think the only person who has talked about defining relationships has been Dr. Mira. Maybe Mavis & Leonardo. There is serious need here!

Very much a spoiler!
Subject A suspects but does not want to believe Subject B (or C) is dang..."
LOL I'm not sure I was up to that part yet... but I love your analysis.
Nirkatze wrote: "I just found out that Roarke's birthday is 10/06/2023--we'll have to have a "birthday party" for him in October..."Yes, sounds exciting! What to get for the person that has everything...
JL wrote: "“The sound of flesh slapping mixed with the sound of ragged breathing…” ummm I think I am at the point where I could read these books without the sex scenes. I like them a lot on their own. 😂 I wis..."Oop, yeah that line... lmao
Starting #14 Reunion in Death and I love the opening scene, with the Closet Fairy... Eve, if you don't want yours, I'll take it...
#14 Reunion in Death enjoying so far... about 1/11 in... I always like mysteries that have multiple cases going at the same time... of course there'll end up being a connection. That Bambi though... (view spoiler)
#14 Reunion in Death About 3/11 in. I like the conversation this book inspires, about marriage and partnership, evolving beyond just physical. (view spoiler)Am a bit sad at the visit to the prison though--I get that cops stereotypically don't believe in rehabilitation, but I want to...
Nirkatze wrote: "Feeney suggests locking them in a room and making them hash it out. Make it a witness interrogation room. And bring popcorn."Only if you want to see them jump eachother's bones after a little arguing xD
FInished 13 today Seduction in DeathUgh I agree on points about Peabody and McNab. I don't really like them together and kind of agree with Eve about plugging my ears and going "Lalalalala" xD (view spoiler)
As for the murderers... I agree with Choko (view spoiler)

Agree on all points--and like your "Lalalala" description...
Tonari no Emily wrote: "Only if you want to see them jump eachother's bones after a little arguing xD..."Ah, damn, good point. bleh.
#14 Reunion in Death a little less than 8/11OMG that bathroom scene!! I was laughing so hard. I'm definitely on Eve's side though--I freak out if my mom walks in while I'm showering... with an opaque shower curtain.
#14 Reunion in Death Just past when Eve and Peabody interviewed Bambi for the first time... Wow! I hope that she is a bit more intelligent than she appears, because I would actually feel sorry for Bonnie if he couldn't have a mature conversation with her... But what am I saying, a lot of men feel that their friends are for conversations, while their wives should be for the "household and bedroom" functions only... I like Peabody's family! The special "mother powers" are a real thing:)))
#14 Reunion in Death, up to Ch. 9 I love Dr. Mira and her husband!!! They are wonderful!!! I guess this is the first time we are really meeting him and he is so adorable!!! And it is always fun to see Mavis and Leonardo.
LOL I live in fear of "mother powers"--though--those of you fellow FBR folks who are mothers... do you ever feel yourself exercising said powers?@Choko--I love how Dr. & Mr. Mira have more or less adopted Eve in their mind.... I remember Iain (I think) mentioning that that happened at some point, and it's so nice to see her getting some positive role models... and I loved Eve's reaction to seeing Dr. Mira in layabout casual dress!
I feel bad for Mr. Peabody. He couldn't help what he saw in her mind, he is a strong sensitive and he is as good hearted as they get. He feels terrible about it, and I think Eve should be gentler with him...
Just finished #14... I really enjoyed this one! The fight scene at the end was very cinematic and totally awesome!!! And I was very proud of Peabody for closing her first case! Also, I wanted to smack the Italian policeman and the concierge girl - we are talking about a murderer, guys, get your shit together!!! Eve going back to Dallas was a rough read, but it was worth it! Overall, I was very emotionally invested in this one and it had great payoff in the end!
Yeah, I really liked how this book had a lot of good growth for Eve... tough growth, but good growth... Robb did a really good job of creating a character who really does battle her past demons every day...
Timelord Iain wrote: "Peabody gets sorted out in this book, Seduction, and I think the series is smooth sailing from here on out… I’m not a fan of the angst either… almost done with my Seduction reread… this one had a n..."Not quite smooth sailing. It is for a while, but it eventually gets interesting again around Treachery in Death.
The way Bambi speaks reminds me a little of Bernadette Peter's portrayal of Lily St. Regis (like the hotel) in the 1982 version of Annie and a lot of Ellen Greene's portrayal of Audrey in the 1986 version of Little Shop of Horrors specifically the slight lisp (although Audrey's was much more pronounced).
Other thoughts:I both like and fear (view spoiler)
Roarke's reaction to his unintended invitation was quite amusing.
Dallas is a great training officer; I only wish she would get over herself with the whole Peabody/McNab situation.
(view spoiler) this is gearing up to be a pretty challenging case!
I agree wholeheartedly with Peabody's (Deliah) & Dallas' theory of events on the cold case. I felt it the same time Eve did at the interview.
@Nyssa--I thought Eve training Peabody in Reunion was really interesting--especially as you say, I think most readers twigged to what was going on immediately in that scene... makes us readers feel like we're also training Peabody...
Started #15 Purity in Death! Really enjoying it so far. Right off the bat, the very first line in the Prologue was this awesome descriptive sentence of heat as a physical punch to the gut.... then the use of the title "Purity" referring both to (view spoiler)--these little layers and tidbits always pique my interest.
#15 Purity in Death about 2/11 hours in. I love Peabody being sarcastic at Dallas. (view spoiler)It's really nice to see Trueheart again--it's been a while. Reiterating for the hundredth time--the side characters make this series! Like a good cop show.
Really liking a lot of the little details, like (view spoiler). And I definitely appreciate that there was a "fade to black" sex scene instead of fully on sexy times.
For the death, my first thought (view spoiler)
I thought the IA officer's explanation for staying with the department was a good speech. It reminds me of the TV show the Closer, and the sequel series Major Crimes (which I actually liked more)--there was a recurring IA officer (played by the woman who was the President in Battlestar Galactica) and she and the main character ("the Closer") had a lot of good conversations about the necessity (and demonization) of the Internal Affairs division. Eventually, the IA officer took over the Major Crimes division and headed the new series, and I really enjoyed her character.
I find it very interesting that 911 is called 9/11--and this book was apparently published exactly a year after the 9/11 terrorist attacks--in Sept 2002. I had originally thought it must have been published beforehand... or maybe it's just how the audiobook narrator said it? Is 911 called nine-eleven in some parts of the country? I've only ever heard it called nine-one-one. "Nine-eleven" will always mean that day of terrorist attacks to me, and hearing it used as the emergency number is a bit jarring.
4/11 hours in to #15 Purity in Death Oooh, I was not expecting either of these turns & twists--(view spoiler)Having a lot of fun!
End of Chapter 11--almost exactly 50% 5:30 in to #15 Purity in DeathMan, I always feel so accomplished when I actually hear a chapter! (view spoiler)
I love The Closer/Major Crimes! I have the biggest crush on Mary McDonnell!!! And her relationship with the hustler kid whom she fostered, was the best!!!
Eve totally channels my feelings when it comes to babies, hahaha! Never had one and to me they are very, very alien... Just like the last time she put the kid they handed her in the hamper, I think that would have been my panicked reaction as well:)))

Choko wrote: "I love The Closer/Major Crimes! I have the biggest crush on Mary McDonnell!!! And her relationship with the hustler kid whom she fostered, was the best!!!"Same!! She & the kid were the core of the show, made it that much more fun than the parent series!
Choko wrote: "Eve totally channels my feelings when it comes to babies, hahaha! Never had one and to me they are very, very alien... Just like the last time she put the kid they handed her in the hamper, I think..."I loved that moment too--and it's also nice to have characters in fiction who mirror these feelings... not all women are baby crazy or interested in motherhood! I'm actually kind of dreading R&E going down that path some day... I can't see an author like NR ignoring that, especially when Roarke has stated he wants children...
At 7:30/11 hours in to #15 Purity in Death... I really appreciated the argument Eve had with the deputy mayor... and I'm kind of on the DM's side. Eve has a hard time seeing any other viewpoints outside of her own, or seeing the value of other jobs that aren't cops... those flaws are part of what make her a great character, lets her grow, and lets the author bring these conversations to page too...Closer to 8 hours in--(view spoiler)
