Also finished Big Jack.. And i'm not sure why that's the title? Was it (view spoiler) This in between story is still the same length as the other In Death books It seems it takes place between Most of #17 and the ending when Summerset comes back..

Finished! And I don't know why I doubted Robb here :D (view spoiler)
Hi all. I had to take a little reading break. I am back now, and I am about 1/2 way through Purity in Death.
I know the rest of you are around 3 to 5 books ahead, though.
This is an interesting case! Now that they know what parts of the brain are affected, I'm excited to see their solution/resolution!
Seeing Jamie again is a surprise. I do love how past characters can show up again.
I think Roarke and company are insane, but I get why they're doing what they are - I just hope no one else gets hurt!
And then there is McNab !?!
I just realized I've lost track of time since the incident with Trueheart. It can't be more than a few days, but it feels like forever.
There are so many questions waiting to be answered!!
Edited to Add:
I just read about Mavis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a full house. We're just missing Charles and Louise now! LOL
Nyssa! So happy you are back! Most of us are a bit behind, so no problem at all:) And Jamie is such a great kid!
Right... Judgement in Death finished. Good one. Geez, this Ricker guy was mental... I kinda like Webster. Poor Sergeant Clooney... I do like how Roarke decided to help with this whole case and how he understood Rue and not punished her for what she did.
I loved Judgement in Death! Started Imitation in Death #17... I see the homage to Jack the Reaper, but I would have lost it just as Peabody did for sure! And I have assisted in a bunch of surgeries ... Still, this is disturbing...
Whoo! All the people reading again! Time to jump back in...Re: Imitation... I know of Jack the Reaper, but haven't actually studied details about the cases... did he actually do that whole surgical thing? Eww.... (bloody auto web recognition thingy wouldn't let me put more than two "w"s)
Yes, he did... I read about it back in the day, but I have a hard time reading about real life crime... It's just harder when you know it actually happened and real people were able to do such things... I try really hard, every day, to keep my faith in humanity, and those make it harder than it usually is...Imitation in Death #17... Ch. 6... Mira's family cookout:) Loved the conversation Mira's daughter had with Eve! I can see myself having that type of honest conversation and she was very aware of her own predisposition to not like her, because she is jealous of her mom's affection to another person as a daughter... After all, that is her mom, who the heck does this other girl think she is?:) And ultimately failing in not liking her - what a great moment!

I was hoping you'd be back soon! I noticed you were gone the past few books.. I'm sure you'll catch up in no time if thats what you want to do :)
Finished Imitation in Death #17... You guys were right. This book was awesome, particularly the grilling:))) And the ceremony at the end - the relationship between Eve and Peabody is just golden! I can't imagine them working without each other. I am sure they would be perfectly fine on their own, but together they are perfection! I am jumping straight to Big Jack #17.5... Poor Andrea, being killed while house sitting...

Book 19-20:
Dallas: Peabody, I need you on scene at a murder.
Peabody: Just let me slap myself a bit to wake up and dress.
Eve: Hurry up down here, I'll slap you around.
Peabody: You sweet talker... 😍

I'm playing it by ear.
Iain, hahaha! She is also trying to figure out her "detective look":) She should go back to the cop shoes.
LOL Iain that's great. I do love how Peabody sees practically everything as a come-on and reacts good naturedly...
Choko wrote: "Imitation in Death #17... Up to Ch. 20... [spoilers removed]"I wonder if they have Dr. Mira on standby for post-interrogation sessions... for both parties...
I am so tickled right now!I am currently watching Season 4, Episode 20 of NCIS: LA.
The episode is called Purity , and the storyline is the same as Purity in Death
In the episode, the "group" puts cyanide in the drinking water feeding into specific areas (like strip clubs and adult movie sets).
Just finished Big Jack #17.5... There were some really good parts in this one. I liked the aftermath of a haist and Detective Peabody in action:))) Loved that it took some real investigation to get to the perp. Felt really bad for the victims and their loved ones, as usual. What I found funny was that there were two major sexy times, while the previous full length book had only one that I can remember. I guess they were taking advantage of Summerset being out of town, which by itself was a time inconsistent, because he returned home before Peabody became a detective and in this book she is already working on her detective look:) That's Ok with me, not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Also, I loved how all the guys and Peabody loved to play with the toy cars:)
Started Divided in Death #18... Almost 70% in. I know I should be reading my other way overdue BR books, but these are such a comfort read, which is weird by itself, since all of them include some very gruesome murders. But the character's chemistry makes them so pleasant to read! So, this is a spi one! And the discoveries of (view spoiler)
I can't wait to see who and how did all this and how they will catch them!
Loved that bit Iain! I just love their relationship in general. I'm in Book 19 Visions in Death in the middle of chapter 18 (view spoiler)

I was thinking about moving on to another BR, but your notes, Emily, now made me want to continue with #19... I am almost done with #18... Now that is some convoluted stuff for sure! I didn't see where this was going in the beginning, but started clicking just as Eve started putting it together... Sparrow in the hospital - brilliant! Eve has some great moments for sure:)))
Starting #17.5 Remember When & Big Jack--decided to try the whole shebang and start with the Nora Roberts connecting story Remember When prequel to Big Jack. We'll see how it goes...
#18... Finished! I found this one so good! Maybe because it was twisty and kind of different. It also wasn't specifically related to Eve and she usually gets a better perspective on those. When it gets personal, she tends to get emotional and sometimes loses perspective and becomes all emotion. And even so, we got some more of her history with the HSO, creating that "divide" between her and Rourke. But, as Emily said, Robb found a way to close things up very satisfactorily:) Loved it!
Started Vision in Death #19 ... Great opening scene - very visual with the dress and the shoes in the park... I am not sure how I feel about the psychic lady. I am with Eve on this one, just don't know what to believe... My best friend is very much into those things and I have a very sceptical streak... Now Mira at least draws on human psychology and is very good at it. She doesn't think she is always right, just draws on experience and observation. I love her:)
Let us know what you think, Nirkatze:)Emily, you won! I am reading #19 when I should be reading 1000 other things:) And I am not sorry at all:))))
Vision in Death #19... 60% in... I loved the evening party with our three couples together:) They are all perfect for each other! In Ch. 7, the beginning, there is a conversation between Eve and Peabody about P getting them a new ride, and I found it to be the cutest convo:))) And I got to the "you sweet talker" too, hahaha! Perfection!
Vision in Death #19... Up to Ch. 20... I am so upset! (view spoiler)Now I know exactly how you felt, Emily!!!
Finished Vision in Death #19... Wow! I totally didn't see this coming! (view spoiler)Emily, totally with you on this one!
Tonari no Emily wrote: "Reading #18 Divided in Death.. almost finished now in Chapter 19 and OMG is Eve cracking me up right now with..."Had to skip up to #18 (still going to circle back to #17.5)--didn't have it on my ipod whoops!
Am 3/12 hours in, and also very curious of the title... first thought was one of those twins living one life as a spy stories--where they swap out even with their spouse so they never know they aren't where they are supposed to be... Would love to get that storyline someday but it's a bit fantastical...
Getting Iain's Peabody/Eve snippet quotes. Lots of "Get down here and/or I'll smack you" from Eve and "promises, promises"-type responses from Peabody... I also love how Eve keeps tossing her more and more responsibility. ^^ Detective!
@Monika & Iain--LOL
Divided in Death #18 is a very different story. I am excited to see what you think of it, Nirkatze:)
#18 OMG the Candy Thief strikes again!! When will THIS mystery, the longest running unsolved mystery in the history of the NYPD, be solved?
Haha! I forgot about that! I have no idea, and the worst part is, I have no idea who the Candy Thief could be! I am totally out of speculations too. Unless it's Rourke, but how? It has to be someone from NYPD...
The prevailing theory is that there is no ONE Candy Thief... it's a squad rite of passage, that the newbies have to find/steal Eve's candy without being caught... like a hazing/initiation... or a secret competition (the timeline is too tight for it to only be new cops to the squad)...
But I think Nora Roberts insists there's a single culprit, and she knows who... and that maybe there are clues?... but it probably won't be explicitly stated until the series is winding down...
On that end of the spectrum, the theory is Roarke...

Hahaha I'm not sorry either for getting you to read it! :DD
LOL That's great! Good argument for a reread... keeping an eye out for the clues. I feel like the Candy Thief didn't strike in the first few books... but then, Eve didn't have quality candy to steal at that time...Maybe Roarke rewards successful candy thieves...
Back home, started 17.5 Remember When/Big Jack Not sure how far into the first novella I am--about 6 hours? I'm almost to the halfway mark on the combined story, but not sure where the first novella will end and the second begin. I think it must be getting near the conclusion though. It's interesting--there's a lot in common with the J.D. Robb stories--there's a mystery, a rogueish and handsome man, a competent woman, and a appealing cast of side characters (including a loveable pooch named Henry). More emphasis on the romance--including some instalurve--which is almost forgivable for the amount of logical discussion about it... but still cringeworthy. They met two days ago and are talking marriage and red-haired children. I wouldn't even tell someone my address after knowing them for two days. Maybe not two years.

I actually didn't think he had anything to do with it, but it makes sense now in retrospect with his insistence on her getting off the case without him bringing any sort of HSO back up... (hide spoiler)]
Was a little puzzled as to why the title was "Divided", and now I kind of feel dumb that I realized why in the last bit of the book lol (view spoiler)[ Of course it was Eve and Roarke's argument over him possibly going too far in getting someone to pay in HSO... But like who would that even be?? I think this relationship bumb is the most interesting thing about the book to me right now... I'm not sure how much will be resolved in this book.. I think it might be a point of contention in the next one too? We'll see! (hide spoiler)]
