Iron Man, In Death Series, Buddy Read Challenge [Next Release: #61 Framed in Death -- September 2nd, 2025]
Read Innocent in Death today... just what I needed, after finishing Kingdoms of Death...
This is a relationship drama book, but it was nice to see it all sorted...
Can't tell if I figured out the killer because I've read these before, or because I know who to suspect after reading so many (again) :D

Started Innocent in Death #24 ... That was not the typical murder... I feel sorry for a love broken in this way though ...
Innocent in Death #24 ... All the girlfriend's comments on the blonde, absolutely priceless!!!! And I get Eve feeling that way - there is that look, and you know your person actually cared for the ex, and no matter how much you try, you know it and it hurts... Even when you know everything is in the past, it still hurts... "She speaks Italian and French!"
"The bitch!!!".... hahaha!
Our girls are an awesome support system though! Love it!!!
Wow! You guys are full steam ahead!!I’m having trouble getting into Big Jack. I’ve had two false starts. Not sure what’s holding me back, I’m
Just not feeling it.
Innocent in Death #24 Up to Ch. 19.... Wow!!! The suspect is pretty shocking, although Robb did great at making us suspect almost from the beginning... (view spoiler)
Planning on binging 23 & 24 midweek this coming week... y'all's comments making me really look forward to it.
Choko wrote: "You can miss that, Nyssa... It's not essential to the series..."I'm too much of a completest to skip it. I finally read it. :)
Three cheers for bullying through and completionism! Yay Nyssa! Easier from here out.Started #23 Born in Death--I was so LOLing through those opening baby scenes!! So much fun to watch Eve (and Roarke) squirm through all of the Mavis prep... especially since I am firmly in their camp as far as birth and babies go... terrifying...
Rather curious to see how this whole story connects to the "born" aspect outside of Mavis... about 25%-30% into the story (view spoiler)
I skipped the Nora Roberts half of Big Jack, both times I've read the series... only read the JD Robb books...
Even the JD Robb half is one of the weaker entries in the series... it's like a full length novella... missing alot of what I love about the main books, and riddled with continuity errors regarding Summerset's vacation...

Read #25, Creation In Death, yesterday... good book... one of the recurring task force books, where the stakes are higher and everyone has to come together to solve it... these types of cases seem to creep up every 5-10 books... in the past, these types of cases have been the ones linked to people in Eve's life, like Mavis/Leonardo & Roarke...
Just finished the novella, Eternity in Death#24.5 ... It was a fun short, which should have been called Eve, the Vampire Slayer:)))
The novellas highlight Eve's ability to know the villain immediately, even more than the main series... the problem is catching them :)
I also read the novella... a day or 2 ago actually... forgot to say anything...
I also read the novella... a day or 2 ago actually... forgot to say anything...
The scene where she entered the club by herself was totally cinematic, I could just picture the whole thing as the bad-ass cowgirl entering the tavern full of bad guys:))))
I finished #23 Born in Death and loved it--I should have known (view spoiler)Then I jumped right in to #24 Innocent in Death and just gobbled it whole. I really loved the Eve/Roarke tension, and like Choko pointed out, the support group and banter was priceless. I think this is also the first book where I pegged the culprit from the first scene we see them--(view spoiler) So creepy. But I felt super smart after reading it! (view spoiler)
Then jumped right in to 24.5 Eternity in Death AND OMG, Choko, I love your Vampire Slayer reference.... and mention of that walking in to the club scene... just awesome cinematicness... I'd really love to see this series get turned into a police procedural. Even if they only do source material they've got 2-3 years of stuff right here...
I really like how Iain points out the highlight of Eve's growing (almost preternatural) instincts...
I think I might have to jump right in to #25 now... I'm feeling the need for something light and pick-me-uppy... lol yes, murder will do just fine, thank you.
will be reading #26 soon, I think?... you know... when I was filling out the spreadsheet the other day, I noticed GR and Audible disagreed on where Eternity in Death fit in the series chronology... 24.5 or 25.5
Doing my best to go through Empire of Silence and The Dragon reborn... With good luck I'll finish them both this week :) I have Reunion in Death in plans as next :)
Iain, I don't really think it matters... It really has no markers to indicate the time in some specific way... Monica, you have your work cut out for you:)))
Finished #25 Creation in Death--I always find it interesting to see which books we get murderer POVs too... (view spoiler) I thought this was a rather creative (no pun intended) twist of a story--a lot of the stories are tropes I've seen over and over in different police procedurals, but this felt pretty fresh. Will be back for #26 soon...

Will read that soon as well as 26.. Probably towards the end of the week

Real sign of Eve's growth and ability to share with friends...

And that twist at the end... I want to say I was shocked, but not really; it was written so that anyone paying attention would realize something was off.
The real surprise was the time taken.
She writes so well, that even if the end result is a surprise, it never hits you out of nowhere - it makes sense! I just started Creation in Death #25... Man, I already absolutely hate the murderer!

Reminds me a little bit of ... was it the Portrait in Death one? They're starting to blend together....
Reading #26, Strangers in Death, today... the Entrepreneur Boy returns, and gets a name: Tiko Johnson... and a grandma, Abigail...
Nearly halfway through the book, and I have a theory (we don't usually do theories, but I just thought of this one, and it's a classic): (view spoiler)
Haha! That was funny, Iain:) I guess she did a nod to the theme:)I am enjoying #25... The fight and then the making up between Feeney and Eve was emotional... They are exhausted and it's easy to bite the head off of those you feel safest with...

Oh yeah, that was a tough one... But one thing I really love about these books--people are big enough to apologize and make up. Gives really good role models for us adults...
It sure does. I finished Creation in Death #25 and really liked it! I don't remember getting too much sexy times on page either:) Loved the way she closed the case though - I guess there are times you have to do things outside of the law for real justice to be delivered... I was so pissed (view spoiler)

Currently reading Survivor In Death (Book #20)Sometimes Eve frustrates the bejesus out of me! I understand her unease around children - I get it - really - but her constant bi+@#ing about every little thing when it comes to the said child is annoying!
Get over it already; the kid is scared and wants to have breakfast with you, Eve - deal!
I am also frustrated because I bought the audio version from Amazon to go along with the Kindle version borrowed from the library - and they don't match! It seems the audio is abridged, and it is driving me INSANE!!! Missing whole phrases, paragraphs, and even pages! And since I bought it outright instead of using my credits, I can't return it. *angry noises*
It's funny and kind of pathetic on my part, but I actually understand her child phobia, because I panic when it comes to babies myself... Not so much children who can look after themselves though... But babies freak me the hell out! I have never had children and my closest friend didn't either, so I missed that whole thing where I might have gotten more comfortable with them. Give me an older adult any time, with or without disabilities, I am in my comfort zone, but children, the younger they are, the scarier they are... So I kind of understand...
I know not everyone is comfortable around babies and toddlers- especially since they can not always communicate what they want and need; but this kid is neither a baby nor a toddler and Eve just seems so unnecessarily dramatic! I am halfway through the story and am looking forward to seeing how it all plays out!

Oh yeah Memory in Death was a good one! [spoilers removed]"
I just finished #22 Memory in Death and also enjoyed! So nice to have good characters to hate... (view spoiler)[I loved when Roarke just shut that Trudi woman DOWN. And then when Eve had that phone call to the lawyer who had also had the same experience she had... and then finally taking out Z-crazy wife... lots of great popcorn moments. (hide spoiler)]
Jumped right in to #22.5 Haunted in Death Enjoyed the Mulder & Scully a little... though I think Peabody was a little too fangirl for Mulder really...
Going to hold off a couple days before #23--going to try to knock out two shortish books then come back. ^^
