Starstruck wrote: "This is a great call 😁I can read Hush 426 or Footsteps in the Dark 929 pages."
For what it's worth I enjoyed most of the stories in Footsteps and I dislike Tal B with the strength of a thousand fiery suns but 929 pages? Yikes lol
Good luck if you go that route!
Tal's on my undecided list. I've only read a few books and they didn't provoke any strong feelings. Yep... I realise that can be damning in its own right.I'm taking part in the Scavenger Hunt on the MM group and both books worked for this month's categories. I've got another 3 anthologies to read and they always take me a lot longer to get through than novels. Committing to reading Footsteps for TART should give me a push to finish it quickly 🤞

A great selection of mysteries. Blind Man's Buff felt like YA/horror and was the only one that didn't work for me. Nicole Kimberling was new to me and Entrée to Murder made me want to check out her back catalogue, Drew had the amateur sleuths instincts for getting into trouble and Mac was reassuringly competent. A Country for Old Men was beautifully evocative, handled the faith of an insular community with care, had an interesting mystery, and a believable second chance romance. Reality Bites scored points for using a tiger as a murder weapon then lost them again (view spoiler). Pepper the Crime Lab managed to strike a balance between the serious aspects and feel good story about Pepper 🐕 finding her forever home, oh... and the romance was good. Twelve Seconds had a great premise, it was refreshing to have the reporter Justin the acting sensibly. Lights, Camera, Murder felt incomplete as there were two intertwined crimes and only one was resolved. Stranger in the House focused more on the mystery than the romance.

Review: I liked this well enough, decent mystery and OTT characters. I am not in love with the narrator and I think I would have enjoyed reading this more than listening. Will definitely continue the series and may revisit my rating to increase to 4 stars if I enjoy book 2 more reading it.

Review: I enjoyed this story, would have likely been 3 stars because it dragged a bit in parts but Gary Furlong was excellent as usual and was good enough in my ear all day to bump it up an extra star.
I just realized I looked at the ebook version when I posted earlier today, the Kindle first edition has only 339 pages. Sorry!!!

Beautifully written with a dreamlike quality to the prose that fitted the story perfectly. I loved the world building. Saint and Gray came from vastly different cultures and had to work to find common ground.
Would have been a 5* read but for Nuo's unprofessionalism (view spoiler).
Oh, I wonder if the page count MKat set for tasks 11 and 12 should have been 1250 (1000/4*5)?It wouldn't affect our completions either way, our combined total is over 1250 both times.

Ugh, I feel like I am running along with you and can't keep up so I keep making silly mistakes. Yes, it should have been Task 12. 🤦🏻♀️

Books selected for this task need to be set outside the US. You can use the setting in the book details on the main book page, the title, the precis, tags or lists to qualify your book. Remember to let me know how you know the book qualifies with links and any other necessary information in your completion posts. I need to know where to look to confirm your books! I have an hour left in Davo, will finish tonight but probably will not post a completion until tomorrow. I will re-start the book I started earlier, I hate when everyone loves a series and I have a tough time with it! Not even Gary Furlong is keeping my interest but will give it a go again.

Review: I thought this was incredibly sweet, both main characters were wonderful but Davo was extra special. The relationship developed quickly but it didn't bother me like it does sometimes, probably because I wanted Davo to find his HEA. Very quick listen, the NR Walker & Glen Lloyd combo is definitely a great collaboration. And that cover!!! Definitely recommend.
Task 13 - #39 read 7 books set outside of the USThe Fallen King's Penitent Soldier by Megan Derr

How it qualifies: fantasy world, from the precis Desmond nevertheless tried to be a good monarch to Benta.
Read 10/05/22 4*
The final installment in The Tales of the High Courts series. Chass, the Captain of Penance Gate, rescued King Desmond from rebels who were trying to claim the Bentan throne. They escape and travel across country to safety in Harken.
It was great to see Chass' redemption arc, he was so used to being told he was a monster he believed it. Desmond's compassion allowed him to see past Chass' thorny exterior and slowly gained Chass' friendship. The resolution to the overall series arc worked well with most of the loose ends tied up.
