Oh, I hadn't realized it was out. Think I'll save it to use as a reward for finishing my SH books.

I've started reading The Henchmen of Zenda for bingo which will work for this call too.

Starstruck | 616 comments Task 13 - #39 read 7 books set outside of the US

The Henchmen of Zenda by K.J. Charles
198p GR
How it qualifies: from the precis, Currently that's Michael Elphberg, half-brother to the King of Ruritania.
Read 10/05/22 5*
Just as good as the first time. K.J. Charles retelling of the classic Victorian pulp novel The Prisoner of Zenda is an absolute delight. It takes the unintended homoeroticism of the original story and turns it into a tale of dastardly villains, dashing henchmen, and formidable women. Rupert and Jasper are perfectly suited to one another and the ending remains true to their characters.

Review: This was okay, I really don’t like the main characters and I definitely do not like them together. I see folks rave about this series and I have tried reading but didn't make it past book 1 and tried it again in audio, made it through book 2 but I think I am going to call it here for now, might revisit at some point but in no hurry to do so.

MountainKat | 31597 comments Here is your next task!

Task 14 - 109. Read 6 7 books with or without facial hair on a male cover model. Teams decide.

As a team decide whether you are reading books with or without facial hair on a male cover model. Without facial hair would be clean shaven, with would include beards, mustaches or scruff. You can use any edition's cover to qualify for this task. Please include the teams decision and the qualifying cover in your completion posts.

The weakest in the series so far. Gray is a childlike MC and his cute behaviour comes across as childish.

There is a 150 page minimum for books, rereads and audios ok. Books may only be used once per player during the challenge. Players may read the same book for a task unless otherwise specified. Books do not have to be romance, but must be fiction.

Leland has no facial hair on the cover
Date Completed: 5/12
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review: I enjoyed it. Not as much as the previous books but OTT snark is one of my favorites and no surprise this book delivers. All of the characters are back as Leland & Jackson get dragged into another mystery while settling into married life. Basically if you enjoyed the prior books in this series you will likely enjoy this one as well. Also Michael Ferraiuolo's narration is terrific as always.

There's a slight cool down period between tasks. At most they're posted every other day.

If a team was set a task on the 10th and completed on the 12th they'd be eligible for a new task straight away.

Our last task was set on the 11th so we had to wait till the 13th. Usually Kat posts the new task even if she doesn't have time to check the previous one so I wonder if we dropped off the list for that day.

ETA, sorry Gustaf I hadn't refreshed the thread before answering and missed your reply.

MountainKat | 31597 comments My BIGGEST, most sincere apologies!!! I just missed your team! Please always poke at me if I miss something!

Here is your next task!

Task 14 - 56. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.

As a team, select one of GR Listopia Romance Lists with over 100 books on it, then everyone reads a book from that list. This task is limited to romance. Please include a link to the chosen list in your completion posts along with number of your selected book.

I am going to consider this task as assigned on the 13th when it should have been. So you can get a new task on the 15th if you are ready. 🤞🏼
