Happy to have you as Captain Jackie :)
Just to let you know I won't be here for the first shelf announcement as I've got a medical appointment I can't shift. I should be here about 2 hours or so after that though.
Any ideas for a name?

Review
Luna, a human in a struggling human settlement, on a far off planet, has a hard life, never getting enough food and working hard as a seamstress to support her younger brother who is a danger to himself & everyone around him. He once again does something foolish bringing the aliens right to their door. To save his life Luna offers herself in his stead. The Horde King accepts her kind offer.
The Horde King, Arokan, plans on making Luna his Queen, she thinks she is just another whore for him. Arokan doesn't realise that Luna and the other humans know nothing about the Dakkar as they are stuck in their settlements, not allowed to hunt or grow crops outside the walls. They are basically starving and desperate.
They learn and grow, sexy times, a few hiccups along the way, sharing their histories, a betrayal, and friends made.
I enjoyed this one and look forward to the next.

Review: This is book one of the Monsters of Verity duology. This is a dystopian series where monsters exist and come out at night to prey on innocent people. The two MC's are Kate and Austin, each coming from families who are the rival leaders of the city. Kate's father offers protection from the monsters - for a price. Austin's father runs the other half of the city by killing the monsters and the people who create them. A truce exists between the sides but it's uneasy and all-out war seems inevitable. Austin and Kate meet when Austin is sent to Kate's school to keep an eye on her. The two are so different but eventually become friends, and when a plot is formed to kidnap and murder Kate, the two go on the run to try to figure out who is behind the plot.
This is a well-crafted story with lots of action. I will definitely be reading the second book to see what happens next as the story is left in a cliffhanger.

Review
Whilst this book follows on closely from the previous book Lies Sleeping it's done, for the first part in a flashback fashion. I'm not sure why, and I found it less, rather than intriguing.
Peter, apprentice wizard has made Detective Constable in the Folly, but is sent on an undercover mission to check on anything "weird" on the premises of a secretive billionaire tech company owner, Terrence Skinner. And of course he finds plenty of weirdness.
He also trips over "The Librarians" of the New York Public Library, on the same mission as himself & Nightingale. So another protagonist to add to the list.
Meanwhile, Beverley's bump is demanding attention & Peter is very happy to assist in its oiling and listening to the twins singing. The domestic scenes in these books are wonderful.
Looking forward to the next in the series.

Review: Kitty and gang are at it again. This time they are confronted with a prison escape of all the bad guys they put away, invisible commandos, a virus caused by bioterrorism and visiting aliens. Once again Kitty has to save the world on a timer. This book had incredibly funny moments and some very sad moments. Loss of loved ones and allies. Things are going to be different in future books. I love this series and I can't wait to continue it. I especially love how everyone always expects Kitty to save the day, and she does, one Aerosmith song at a time.

Review: This was one wild ride! Science fiction is not one of my favorite genres as a rule although I have found some series that I really like. And this is young adult as well which can have its own set of issues. But this book was fantastic! Set in 2575, the planet that the MC's, Kady and Ezra, live on is attacked by a hostile warship and everyone is forced to evacuate. Kady and Ezra have just broken up and are barely speaking but just manage to escape on spaceships that have come to rescue them. The action takes place on these vessels with a warship in pursuit. With an AI (AIDAN) that has been injured and presenting its own set of dangers and a virus that mutates into a horror zombie show, the action is non-stop and extremely suspenseful. I listened to the audiobook which was very well done and had me on the edge of my seat throughout the story. I can't wait to read the next book of this trilogy.

Review: Two Arrow leaders, Aden and Zaira, are kidnapped and someone appears to be trying to get the different groups (human, changeling and psy) to fight each other again. I really enjoyed this book. I didn't think I would, because I didn't know much about Zaira before, but I really loved this one. It was great to watch the Arrows begin to learn how to be free and access their emotions. The hope and fear that are beginning to be expressed. To see Zaira left go of her past and become the partner that Aden needs. To see Aden do something for himself for a change instead of always thinking of the squad first. This book seems to have put closure on the events of the first 13 books and is setting us up for the future. I always forget how much I love this series because for some reason I only seem to read it during bingo games. I really need to make a concerted effort to catch up because this is such a great world.
