“I’ve got strong hands, and I promise to be a gentleman unless you ask me to tear off your clothes and kiss every delectable inch of you.”
Silver didn't know how to love, but she knew how to hold on to her people.
“Explain what's happening.”
“We're happening.”
“I’ll be beary good,” he promised, his face lit from within.
She had the sense of playing with a wild thing. “Now you’re just beyond bearing.”
Bears have big bodies and big hearts. No one can ever argue otherwise. But there is a school of thought that says these big, blunt, gorgeous, and often aggravating creatures are the most sensitive changelings of us all. It’s hard to hurt a bear … but if and when you succeed, their pain is enormous.
“She cleared her mind of all other thoughts, her attention only on the wild, beautiful man who called her his sunshine and who saw starlight in her eyes.”
“I’ll be beary good,” he promised, his face lit from within.
She had the sense of playing with a wild thing. “Now you’re just beyond bearing.”
“I love you, Valyusha.”
“I’ll be your teddy bear anytime, Starlight.” Taking her hand, he pressed it to the bass beat of his heart. “It’s yours. Forever and always.”
“She cleared her mind of all other thoughts, her attention only on the wild, beautiful man who called her his sunshine and who saw starlight in her eyes.”
“Today an apple, tomorrow ice cream, the next day licking honey from her body, it was all about strategy… and stubborn bearish hope.”
“He needed a mate who’d refuse to take any of his shit. She’d also drive him insane, of that he was certain, but bears were lunatics anyway. It’d be fun. All he had to do was convince Silver of that.”
“You have anything but suits in your closet?”
“No, I sleep this way and wake up perfectly pressed.”
“Have you thought about my offer?” he asked, the laughter still in his eyes.
“The answer remains the same,” Silver said as a burn spread through her chest. “I do not wish to go have ice cream with you.”
“It’s really good ice cream.”
“Solnyshko moyo.” A kiss to the dampness of her neck as he roughly spoke words whose meaning had deepened to raw intimacy with a simple change in order.
Sun of my heart. Sunshine of my life.
“I love you, Valyusha.”
“I’ll be your teddy bear anytime, Starlight.” Taking her hand, he pressed it to the bass beat of his heart. “It’s yours. Forever and always.”
This book is for … die hard fans of the series. 16 books into a universe there can hardly be any breakthroughs concept-wise.

“Love is no rose. It’s a goddamn weed that digs its roots in so deep, there’s no hope of getting it out."
"Did you know the bear idea of courtship is to kidnap their mates off the streets?
"Surely not."
"Surely yes."
“I want to be alone . . . said no bear ever"
“He was an alpha bear. He had balls big enough to handle rejection.”
“I’m bigger and meaner than you.” Krychek raised an eyebrow.
“Bigger, yes. Meaner? Let’s leave that an open question.”
“I will fight all your monsters beside you, solnyshko moyo. You just have to point them out.”
Infinite stars!!!!!! I loved this book so much!!
They might be the most illogical, most wild, and most impossible to understand changelings in the world. And she was about to go live with them. With Valentin. Who called her Starlight and asked her out for ice cream when he wasn’t attempting to aggravate her into an emotional reaction.
Silver Merchant believes in control and her family. And as the new director of EmNet, the worldwide Emergency Response Network, that’s run under the aegis of the Trinity Accord, Silver plays a crucial role in helping Trinity Accord achieve its goal of a uniting their divided world. What she doesn’t need is the chaos and wildness the alpha of the StoneWater Bears brings, who tries to charm and aggravate her into letting go of her Silence. But for Silver letting go of Silence, embracing the emotion Valentin makes her want to feel, isn’t an option. No matter how much she’s tempted.
Today an apple, tomorrow ice cream, the next day licking honey from her body, it was all about strategy . . . and stubborn bearish hope.
Valentin Nikoleav has never met a more fascinating woman than Silver. Her icy control and the fire she hides calls to him like no other and he’s determined to win her over. He’ll climb apartment walls to get to her, run errands just to see her and even try sneaky cat ways to charm her. But when an assassin tries to kill Silver with poison, Valentin is determined to keep her safe. And there is no safer place for her than among his powerful bear clan. Finally Valentin has her in his home, now he just needs to find a way to keep her there.
Valentin was far more than a distraction. He threatened her very stability, made her consider a life she’d always believed was for other people, impossible for her.
I have always liked Silver and she was amazing in this book, easily one of my favorite heroines. On the surface she’s so cool and in control, a total alpha but a lot more quiet about it. But underneath she hides a wicked wit and passionate nature that only Valentin brings forth. She’s fiercely loyal to those she cares about, and I loved how she butted heads with Valentin and how protective she was over him. She’s also incredibly strong and brave, taking a chance at being with him, even though there was a big risk to her if she let go of Silence.
He needed a mate who’d refuse to take any of his shit. She’d also drive him insane, of that he was certain, but bears were lunatics anyway. It’d be fun.
All he had to do was convince Silver of that.
I adored Valentin. This growly bear was so charming and I loved how he flirted with Silence, how hard he’s pursued her ever since meeting her. He’s a total alpha, very protective of those he considers his and so possessive over Silence. He’s also incredibly playful and the fact that he admired and loved Silver’s strength made me just adore him even more. This is a hero whose heart is so huge, than no matter how much pain he was dealt, he always forgave and fought for those he loved. This sexy teddy bear is definitely one of my favorite book boyfriends!
“If I was yours,” she said, “how would you treat me?”
“Like a fucking queen.” A slight pull on her hair, Valentin tugging her closer with his fisted grip. “I’d also probably drive you a little insane,” he said with a shrug. “Bears can be a bit hardheaded—that’s not just rumor. But I think your head can be just as hard, so we’ll be fine. I’d also touch you. A lot.”
The romance was amazing!!! I just loved them together, their playful banter and how sarcastic Silver could be. They were just perfect for each other, equally strong and stubborn and the chemistry between them was so passionate and intense! It was wonderful seeing how determined Valentin was in making Silver his, how he never gave up and I loved seeing Silver show her true self the longer she was around him and his clan.
It was so much fun meeting new characters and I must say the bear changelings are AWESOME, so curious, playful and naughty and I FREAKING LOVED them!!!! They are my new favorite changelings! And I loved that we got to spend time in Moscow that we got to see Kaleb, whom I love and seeing him interact with the bears was wonderful. Also the Mercant family are fascinating, especially Ena the grandmother. She is one very tough Psy and I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side.
The psychically gifted Psy seek to feel emotion for the first time in over a hundred years.
Changelings with their primal hearts fight their natural instinct to trust only pack, only clan.
Humans look to the future with a grim-eyed determination to no longer be the weakest race.
And others . . . they seek to spread chaos and death and division.
Welcome to the Age of Trinity.
Trinity might have brought the hope of peace but there is still so much danger to everyone. The PsyNet is still in danger of collapse and there are still those who are determined to put a stop to the unity Trinity is trying to build, fear and the greed for power their excuse for committing such evil deeds, causing so many deaths.
This is my absolute favorite series. It has the best world-building, with a story arc that continues to surprise and captivate me, characters that you will love and also hate, and a romance that will make your heart swoon. And this book was another fantastic addition and the perfect first installment to the second arc. It was playful, funny, sexy, sad and so romantic – it surpassed my expectations and I loved every single page of it. A must read for all fans and if you haven’t read this series yet, you are missing out!! Highly recommended.
Also while this may be the first book in the next series, I definitely wouldn’t recommend starting with it. You’ll miss out on the incredible journey this world has taken to get to this particular point.
