I know!! What is wrong with them!?! I've been calling used bookstores today. None of them have it either. I guess I will need to download it to my Kindle. Sometimes you just like to hold a book....

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) WEEK 9: CREATURE FEATURE

Ritual Magic (World of the Lupi, #10) by Eileen Wilks

Read: 17/04/15
Rating: 4 stars

Review:
This was much better that the previous book. It was full of action straight from the start. Lily's mother has somehow last her memories and thinks she is twelve years old. Loved that we saw some of Toby. He is such an awesome kid. There was also plenty of Sam and Grandmother too. Looking forward to the next one.

Song in the Silence (The Tale of Lanen Kaelar, #1) by Elizabeth Kerner by Elizabeth Kerner

Date Read: 19 April
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
I was in a dragon mood and I came across this in the library. This was a very good debut book. The book takes some time to get going but once it does, it was difficult to put down. The twist in the end was something that I didn't quite anticipate until the hint was dropped. I recommend this book for anyone looking for a fantasy-romance. I'm definitely continuing the series.

SOS Bookshelf Bingo R11 ~ Week 9 ~ Creature Feature Shelf

Burn For Me (Phoenix Fire, #1) by Cynthia Eden

Finished:04/19/15
Rating:4♥

Review:This isn't my first Cynthia Eden book and it certainly won't be my last. Book one in the Phoenix Fire Series was great! In this story we got to met Eve and Cain and lets just say that when these two met the sparks fly.You see Cain is a Phoenix a creature of myth and legend, a being that can die and then rise again more powerful then before. He is being held captive and tortured in a research facility by a mad scientist with dreams of creating the perfect weapon. Little does he know that the beast will not be caged much longer and then everything is going to burn. With the help of Eve, Cain is freed and looking for revenge and when he finds the man he's looking for everything will be burned to ash.

The relationship between Eve and Cain is Super Nova Hot! These two literally burn up the pages. I have always enjoyed Cynthia's writing, she writes a story with enough ebb and flow that you can almost read the entire book in one sitting. Her Characters are engaging and have plenty of depth that you instantly become attached to them. I can't wait to read the next story in the Phoenix Fire series about secondary character Ryder, a bad ass vampire on a mission to find the girl he loves!

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments WEEK 9: CREATURE FEATURE

Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop

READ: 4.22.15
Rating: 5 stars
Review:

Nudged awake by his bedmate's restless movements, Simon Wolfgard yawned, rolled over on his belly, and studied Meg Corbyn.

My first reaction to the start of this book was, "What! When did this happen?" Then I read a little more and realized that Simon is basically protecting his pack rather that wooing Meg. Or is he?

This second book of The Others begins soon after the end of Written in Red. Simon is Meg's self appointed bodyguard when she is not at the Liaison office. He is confused by the feelings that he has for this human although he does not consider her to be completely human. The drugs introduced in the last book are back in play as the Crowgard is targeted. Gone wolf and feel good are being used to incapacitate Crows and crows alike in order to kill them. Crowgard are nosy and bring information back to the Courtyard from the human communities. Humans are attacking the first line of defense against the Others. Simon soon discovers how the drugs are manufactured and sets out to stop it. Monty and the police join forces with the Others as tainted meat is added to the mix. Humans and Others alike are fighting and dying because of the drugs.

We learn more about the fragile relationship between human and the Others when communities begin to fall. The others own the land that human town are built on and can(and will) take it back. The introduction of the Intuits as a bridge between human and the Others is wonderful. It also answers some questions about the Cassandra sangue. The Ferryman and the Peole of the Simple Life give hope for a peaceful existence between humans and the Others.

I love that Simon has started thinking of Meg and the other women in the Courtyard as the human pack. His bewilderment at female moods and biological events is quite entertaining. The entire Courtyard tries to keep Meg wrapped in bubble wrap to protect her. There was not as much interaction with Sam in the book but the introduction of Skippy was excellent. Poor little Skippy is the epitome of ADHD.

You really want to smack the majority of humans outside of the Courtyard. It is illegal to deny services to the Courtyard but some businesses try it anyway. The loss of Wolf cookies was almost a disaster until Steve Ferryman offers to have some baked at the Great Island Community. The homemade offerings are amusing. Cow shaped for beef, bird shaped for poultry and human shaped for chamomile. Not a great marketing plan to give wolves human shaped cookies!

The female humans are more vocal in this book. They band together to give Meg pep talks about dating and sex. Meg's innocence is a refreshing change from the hardcore kick ass heroines in most paranormal books.

I feel like I could sit and analyze this book for hours! I love the play on the title as a "murder of crow" in addition to meaning true murder is also what a group of crows is called. The tension between humans and the Others points out the stupidity of hate crimes. I ADORE this series and look forward to reading the next book. A solid 5 stars!

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments WEEK 10: MAN'S WORLD

Hunted by Kevin Hearne

Read: 4.24.15
Rating: 4 stars
Review:

It's odd how when you feel safe you can't think of that thing it was you kept meaning to do, but when you're running for your life you suddenly remember the entire list of things you never got around to doing.

In book six of the Iron Druid Chronicles, Atticus, Granuaile and Oberon are running across Europe to escape the goddesses of the hunt, Artemis and Diana. As if that is not enough. throw in Loki who is intent upon killing Atticus and unleashing Ragnarok(the Apocalypse). The Polish coven led my Malina is back in this installment and offers help against Loki. The seemingly luckless Druids are unable to shift planes without drawing the attention of the gods and goddesses so they must use their heads (and feet!) to stay a step ahead.

Although I love this series, this was not my favorite. It seem a little slow in places and I occasionally had to go back a page or two to remind myself what was going on. Oberon never disappoints! His comments and everlasting love of bacon keep me enthralled. I know that I will continue to read the series simply because it makes me think about mythology and how the various gods and goddesses relate to each other. At times it makes me stop to do a little research to confirm what I know about the gods.

And, I’m typing this sitting in my brand new office so I’m happy. So far, my new day has gone by in a lot of introductions, inductions, meetings. Not much work to do (yet) and everybody’s asking me to enjoy this period :)

SOS Bookshelf Bingo R11 ~ Week 10 ~ Man's world

Avalon (Avalon, #1) by Mindee Arnett

Finished:04/27/15
Rating:4.5♥

Review:
This Book was awesome! This is the first Mindee Arnett book that I have read and I enjoyed it so much! It was so much fun to read and the action and adventure was great. I don't usually read much Sci-fi but once I started this one I couldn't put it down. A lot of other reviews say this is like Firefly only in book form and they are right each character in the book reminded me of all my favorite characters from the TV show except we are dealing with young adults instead of grown-ups. I am most definitely going to be reading the next book because now I have to know what I going to happen to my rag tag group of space pirate teens :)

I enjoyed this story. Some fun moments. The one thing I would have liked was a bit more focus on the relationship between Hunter and Ari. There was a bit of a step up for the next book, which I will read.
