Vi | 943 comments I so want to start Vision in Silver (The Others, #3) by Anne Bishop . But I'm trying to postpone reading it so that the waiting time isn't long. It's not going to happen but I can try..

Have you guys read October Daye series starting with Rosemary and Rue (October Daye #1) by Seanan McGuire ? It's another excellent UF series.

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments I had a hard time getting into Rosemary and Rue. I haven't read anything else in the series. Does it get better?

message 203: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Oh yeah, the first 1-2 books are the weakest. The series gets much better from then on. It's one of my top UF series.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) I'm not sure of my choice yet. Will have a search

message 209: by Moondance (new)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments I thought I was being good to get here a little after 4pm my time and I see the shelf was called early. Shifter books fill a huge part of my bookshelves and my ereaders. I'll have to think about it and pick something when I get home.

message 210: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeepers ... the shifter shelf doesn't help us out at all... bummer, oh well still fun to read though :)

message 211: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments OK, got a few books that fit the shelf. I'll wait and see which works out best.

message 212: by Moondance (new)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments I worked 16+ hours yesterday and crashed when I got home. Kat, I hate to hear about all the snow! I feel like a whiny butt for complaining about the little bit we got. I hope that Spring decides to come visit soon!

I enjoyed Burn for Me so much that I think I will stick with Ilona Andrews and return to the Kate Daniels series. I'm not sure why I stopped after the first book. Perhaps because I have a few books in my house? I will be reading Magic Burns for SHIFTERS.

I hope everyone has a great day!

SOS Bookshelf Bingo R11 ~ Week 5 ~ Shifter Shelf

Rafael (Stone Society #1) by Faith Gibson

Finished:21/03/15
Rating:4.5♥

Review:This is a great start the Stone Society Series. Faith Gibson has introduced us to a band of warriors who are shapeshifters called Goyles or Gargoyles and they are charged with protecting humans from The Unholy modified humans that only know how to kill.

Gibson's world building is good she doesn't dump a whole lot of info on you all at once but spreads it out through out the book. The main Characters Kaya and Rafael are very likeable and I enjoyed the build up with their relationship. The sex scenes where Hot and so are the men ;)

I have to say not bad for a first book in a new series, I will be continuing on with Gregor, book 2 in the very near future.

Good Luck Vi, I hope you land the Job! :)

And I wouldn't worry to much about being late with your review this shelf really doesn't help us out much at all :(

message 225: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Thanks, ladies! The interview went okay all things considered. I've a few more interviews coming up so hopefully I'll land a job soon.

My current book is not that interesting - the whole language thing is just not working out for me. I'm 55% in so just have to read through and finish.

It's been a while since I read a book set in this world, but it soon came back. I enjoyed the story, I liked North and Lexi together. Parker was a great kid. Love the Jameson family. It's all building for the final showdown in the last book. Looking forward to Cailin and Logan's book.

Thanks, Sandra! You probably need a cough drop. I keep hearing India :) I loved the NZ vs SA match. An awesome match till the penultimate ball. I'm hoping tomorrow's match comes close to that.

Vi | 943 comments Week 5: Shifters

Hawksong (The Kiesha'ra, #1) by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

Date Read: 25 March
Rating: 3 stars
Review:
I was really excited by the book's premise. I mean, it was a true enemies-to-lovers trope with two natural enemies (hawk and snake). It started off well enough. I was completely engrossed. The world built was interesting. The heroine, Danica was a little too fragile for my taste (as the relation dynamic reminded me of Harlequin Presents) but it was understandable.

Just when things got interesting, BAM! The book's finished; with a very comedic ending almost ruining the initial impression. There was a very interesting setup going on. The book is told from first POV of Danica and it would have been interesting to see the culture mishmash from her perspective. But no, she spends most that time unconscious. The relationship progress was also not clearly shown. At one point, she was still afraid of Zane (he being a snake). But 20 pages later, after a lot of time spent unconscious, they're in love. So, a lot of telling and no time showing or developing.

I'm so disappointed. Moreso as I was really into the book. The author needed to have spent 100 more pages as there was lot of things that she could have developed, explored. Sigh.

It was a fantastic match. Had everything, dropped catches, playing on, rain, great catches. And to win by a six was unbelievable, and Vettori was there at the end too.

Hope the match tomorrow is better but I don't want a heart attack if it comes down to the last ball.

Good luck to both India and Australia!

Well I have finally finished Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh and it turned out better then I thought. I found it really slow to start for me anyway but things picked up in the end and it even had me shed a tear or two. I'm glad a pushed my way through it I'll definitely continue on with this series.

message 233: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments The stadium was great, wasn't it? I kept hearing the chanting. I can't even imagine how NZ team must have felt. And Vettori.. *Sigh*

That's true. I was able to enjoy yesterday's match being (almost) neutral. I'm soo excited about tomorrow's match (I also have an interview so must remember to prepare for that too)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments WEEK 5: SHIFTERS

Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews

Read: 3.21.15
Rating: 4 stars
Review:

The phone rang in the middle of the night.

Kate Daniels is a mercenary in magic torn Atlanta tasked to retrieve maps stolen from the Pack. The city is in the throes of a major magical flare that occurs every seven years. Kate becomes the guardian of a young girl, the seeker of a secret coven and next potential plaything for Curran, Lord of the Pack.

I'm not sure why I waited so long to read this book. It took me a bit to catch up with the storyline but once I did I loved it. Kate is mouthy, kickass and smart. Curran is brooding, scary and a bit smitten. The flare has unleashed gods and goddesses that should not be on the mortal plane. Interesting interaction between the characters. The description of Atlanta is stark and oh so real. The Oracle creeped me out or perhaps it was the giant turtle. I enjoyed the ever growing tension between Kate and Curran. Now I want to run out and read the next book in the series. A very good, solid read.

Sandra | 25913 comments Vi, it started out a really good game and then it seemed to fall apart. What went wrong?

I think we're gonna have trouble against NZ on Sunday. NZ have been playing really good, though its at the MCG so we've got home team advantage.

Hope the interview goes well!

message 248: by [deleted user] (new)

I decided to change my book choice, I'll be going with Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh instead it fits in better with a few other challenges I'm doing :)

message 249: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I know! I'm sitting here wondering. The first 10 overs went well and I was happy. Interview and then everything is falling apart. Ugh. A little depressed right now.

If I was a neutral third party, I would have picked Australia & New Zealand for the final purely because of the drama - the two host nations. While I would ordinarily say Australia, it would be good for New Zealand to win. Mainly for Vettori. New Zealand have been stunning so far. Though, as you said it's MCG. So homeground for you guys. It's going to be an intense final.

My interview went ok. Answered most of the questions; missed some. Though, I think the job will not work for me. Oh well.

message 250: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25913 comments Well, the more interviews you do the better you get, though they don't get any easier. At least that's what I found when I had to do them.

You'll find the right job soon I'm sure :)))

I won't actually mind if NZ beat us, always have a soft spot for those across the ditch plus cutie Vettori :)

Saying that, I'll be pretty happy if we win!
