Vi | 943 comments But the book will be released US time right? Cause it's only 2 hours 3 minutes to 3 March.

Judithe | 6566 comments Right on time...though I checked a little late. Got distracted! G'night! No longer feeling the urge to run to the Discussion thread and scream SHELF.

message 106: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I ordered it from the very recently minted amazon.in. Singapore is very bad for ebooks due to geo restriction. Lucky for me India isn't. Long story short, I have it on my Kindle now. YAY!! I can't wait to start.

SOS Bookshelf Bingo R11 ~ Week 2 ~ Demons Shelf

Drop Dead Demons (Divinicus Nex Chronicles #2) by A&E Kirk by A&E Kirk

Finished:04/03/15
Rating:4♥

Review:
Yet another solid book from the writing duo of A&E Kirk. This book pretty much picks up where book one left off with my girl Aurora getting in to all kinds of trouble, but boy does she do it with flare, quite literally. This book ratchets up the action ten times more then book one and the humor to just to funny. Also things are starting to heat between Aurora and Ayden to the point where things a literally catching on fire. Throw in love sick gods and pet demon worms and you have Drop Dead Demons.

A&E Kirk is fast becoming a favorite author of mine, they make a fantastic team and have a uncanny way of making you fall in love with the world and characters(ahhh... Matthias...so yummy) they are creating. If your not reading this series you should, it's great and worth the time.

OK the lovely and wonderful Sandra said that this was acceptable for the green cover so I'll be reading
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1) by Michelle Hodkin this is my first choice but I do have a second choice of Lost Girl (Hidden, #1) by Colleen Vanderlinden if the first one turns out to be a dud :)

Vi | 943 comments Sorry Moondance, I was binging on Charles & Anna and didn't want to take time off. ;) Going to put my review soon.

I haven't started my demons book yet - Dead Heat followed by Hero by Samantha Young were so awesome that I'm not sure what book to start next. *Sigh* I'm going to try changing genres. I'll definitely start my demons book in a couple of days.

Vi | 943 comments Freespace: (From SoS shelves)

Shifting Shadows Stories from the World of Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs

Date Read: 28 Feb
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
An awesome collection of short stories set in whole Shape Shifter world. The best thing was the little bit of intro the author gave for each story - basically why she wrote it. Except for the Alpha & Omega, I haven't read the rest so it was a great read. I especially loved Samuel & Bran's beginning sort of read.

It was a perfect prequel before I re-read the Alpha & Omega series. Now I just want a story on Bran. Pretty please.

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments Week 2: DEMONS

The Good, the Bad, and the Undead

Read: 3.3.15
Rating: 3 stars
Review:

I hitched the canvas strap holding the watering canister higher up on my shoulder and stretched to get the nozzle into the hanging plant.

The second book in the Rachel Morgan/Hollows series begins with Rachel trying to rescue a fish. Oddly enough, this caught my interest more than the first book. The usual cast is back with Ivy, Jenks and Nick. Detective Glenn Edden is introduced as a partner/handler to Rachel as she works as a consultant for the FIB. Their first case together involves a missing witch who just happens to be the boyfriend of Trent Kalamack's secretary, Sara Jane. The investigation takes Rachel to a class on ley lines which she failed in college. On the Ivy front, we meet a rather scary vampire, Piscary. He doesn't understand why Ivy has not claimed Rachel.

I have such mixed emotions about this series. I find that the first half of the book drags a bit and then we get into the true story. Finding out Trent's true self was a good revelation. The contact with the demon Algaliarept is interesting. The Rachel/Ivy relationship can be confusing-strained then supportive. I may give this series a rest for a bit. I had planned to read the entire series this year and I may still, but for the moment I have had enough of Rachel. I'll miss Jenks. He is by far my favorite character,

SOS Bookshelf Bingo R11 ~ Week 3 ~ Green Shelf

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1) by Michelle Hodkin by Michelle Hodkin

Finished:07/03/15
Rating:4♥

Review:
I have to say that I quite enjoyed this book. It was very interesting in that the build up to solving the mystery of what is happening to Mara leaves you wondering if she really is crazy or if there is some kind of supernatural element going on. By the end of the book we are only just starting to understand Mara's and Noah's abilities and the ending leaves you hanging in stunned shock and wishing for book 2 right away to see what is going to happen next.

I really enjoyed the author's writing technique she had good flow and I never found myself having to reread anything twice. I also liked that the author used some above average words that would make some younger readers have to look things up to find their meaning. It was kinda like have an English lesson but much more fun to learn. All in all a very good book and I will definitely be moving on to the next book very soon :)

Vision in Silver (The Others #3) by Anne Bishop

Read: 07/03/15
Rating: 5 stars

Review:
This series is one of my favourites and each instalment is eagerly awaited. I've rated the previous book both 5 stars and was hoping this one too would be good. It was. The world is unique, the characters fascinating. Meg and Simon are the main characters and we learn more about each in this one. There are many secondary characters to love too. The tension between The Others and certain humans is building with each book. I can't wait for book 4 next March.

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments WEEK 3: GREEN

Ivy Cole and the Moon by Gina Farago by Gina Farago

Read: 3.7.15
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review:

When darkness falls on a mountain, it does not descend slowly, like the sinking of a great black ship over the peaks.

Ivy Cole returns to her home state of North Carolina after being away for a decade. Strange things are happening in the small town of Doe Springs. A "devil" appears each full moon and people disappear or die. Ivy has always tried to be careful about the prey she chooses during the full moon. They are bad hurtful people that she hopes no one will miss. Killing the local postal carrier brings things to close to Ivy and her secret. There is also another werewolf in the area that is not being as careful and Ivy searches for him before he reveals what they are.

This was an enjoyable story set in a small town in the mountains of North Carolina. The local sheriff is a woman on edge because of the mysterious deaths. One of the deputies falls for Ivy and digs a little too close into her past. Ivy's pack of dogs are a mishmash of rescues that she loves unconditionally. I enjoyed the characters and the descriptive settings. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Night Season (World of the Lupi, #4) by Eileen Wilks

Date Read: 09 March
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
Really enjoyed this installment in the series. I have been looking forward to Cynna and Cullen's story. The biggest strong point of the series is the world building. The world is built in detail and the supporting characters are also completely fleshed out. I'm definitely picking up the next book.

Yay! Another cricket fan. India is rocking at the cup and so is New Zealand. Vettori's bowling has been just awesome. He used to be my favorite spinner but Ashwin's just now edging out. Especially after India vs Ireland. I can't wait for the QFs.
